NGOs by the Budding Managers of I2IM, CHARUSAT

Indukaka Ipcowala Institute of Management (I2IM), a constituent of Charotar University

of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT), Changa organized an Industrial Visit to

Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd., Kheda and Blind People’s Association (BPA),

Ahmedabad on July 12, 2014. In this Educational Tour, about 100 students of I2IM

different spheres i.e. Industry, Education, Society and Spirituality and could develop

broad perspectives and a holistic approach to perceive the world around.

The visit was organized with the objectives of imparting information, knowledge and

exposure to the students regarding the system in industry and NGO and to learn the

crucial lessons of Management and life. It primarily focused on providing a vital scope

for interaction regarding the impact of Budget 2014 on the respective industry and

NGO.

It is here noteworthy that the Union Budget 2014 has made provision for setting up of

15 Braille presses and enhancement of many other presses across the nation and

Braille-embossed currency was historic as for the first time, the word 'Braille' was given

the importance of being mentioned in a central Budget. Students of I2IM visited BLIND

PEOPLE’S ASSOCIATION (BPA) at Ahmedabad and met Mr. Bhushan Punani, The

Director, Blind People's Association, - an IIM graduate who chose the social sector over

the corporate one. The students visited every nook and corner of the BPA, interacted

with the Director and all the blind people staying and working with BPA and collected

their reflections over the impact of new provisions for them in the Union Budget 2014.

The visit promoted social and professional relationships between students and BPA and

sensitized the students with the hardships and plights of people in BPA. It filled them

with compassion, and developed a novel and positive perspective towards life and

work. They learnt the lesson of cultivating undying spirit in every stage of life without

compromising with values.

The students also visited HINDUSTAN COCA COLA BEVERAGES PVT. LTD, Kheda and

interacted with the HR Group regarding the impact of price hike in Soft Drinks on their

production, business and market. They visited the industry, understood the production,

packaging, labeling, marketing and HR processes prevalent in the organization and

received the valuable exposure to Mass and Batch Production System and Management.

The visit set up a very good interface between students and industry. It enabled the

future business tycoons and entrepreneurs to expand their professional sanctum,

enhance their level of information, knowledge and understanding regarding the know-

how in Industry. On the auspicious eve of “Guru Purnima”, the students also visited

Swamianrayan Akshardham Temple at Gandhinagar and witnessed the unique

conglomeration of science and spirituality.

It was Dr. Govind Dave’s extensive qualitative research in 2008 regarding “A Study on
