Power Driven Turks Head

• Available in both plain and universal type roll configurations.

• Easy roll change. • Compact design- less floor space

required. • Power screw adjustment

available. • No pull through device needed-

reduces scrap.

Efficient Production of Precision Shaped Wire with Minimum Scrap. For over 100 years, Fenn has been a leader in providing quality metal forming solutions across the globe. The Turks Head is a metal forming machine that can be compared to an adjustable draw die but is actually infinitely adjustable within its limiting dimensions. The Turks Head operates on the Rolling Mill principle and imparts the same qualities to the metal as the Rolling Mill does, namely, superior finish, accurate size and shape, and improved grain structure of the metal. The Turks Head differs from a rolling mill in the number and arrangement of rolls. The Turks Head utilizes two pairs of rolls, one pair is arranged horizontally, while the other is arranged vertically. Today, Fenn offers standard pull through models, as well as our redesigned Power Driven models. With Power Driven Turks Head, the need for a capstan is eliminated, saving space and precious material. Rolls are easily removed and re-inserted for maintenance. www.fenn-torin.com [email protected] +1 860.259.6600

Advantages:

Easy roll change system

Complex wire shapes made easy.

As a long time, proven producer of Turks Heads, Fenn is proud to announce its latest series of Power Driven Turks Heads. Fenn’s Power Driven Turks Heads produce the same quality results as standard Turks Heads, but feature self-driven rolls. Universal type Turks Heads are available in the power-driven roll format, eliminating the need for a pull-through device, and reducing the total floor space requirement. In addition, the easy roll change system saves time, and helps ensure the line can return to production as quickly as possible. Finally, for those clients who process high value materials such as precious metals, the Power Driven Turks Head design inherently produces minimum scrap, reducing your manufacturing costs. Contact Fenn today to learn more about how Fenn’s Power Driven Turks Heads can help you reach your production goals and improve your business!

Optional Features

Torin FZ 125Wire diameter range: .080”-.275”Minimum index: 3 PPH: Up to 18,000See it on YouTube!

www.fenn-torin.com

A selection of optional features are available to meet the diverse requirements of the spring making industry. Optional features include:

• NEW Spring Vision- utilizing advanced image processing, Spring Vision has the capability to measure and adjust the spring’s free length, pitch and diameter in real-time without additional interaction from the operator beyond entering tolerance values at set-up. This allows for the coiler to self-adjust, via closed loop control, for any changes that may have occurred with the material, the tooling or the environment. All measurements as well as the captured spring image are displayed on the HMI along with Statistical Process Control (SPC) data pertaining to Pass/Fail and measurement distributions. The system records all of the captured measurements to log files, easily extractable for remote data processing or as supporting documentation for the customer

• Ring Production Attachment- This optional attachment is designed to produce large diameter rings on your existing Torin spring coiler. For example, an FZ 115 size ring attachment can produce rings ø15”+, depending on springback of the material and shape of the ring

• Forming Attachments- Such as end formers and spinners• Quill Style Tooling- To enable more complex wire forming• Length Gauge Interface- For customer supplied length gauge such as a Larson or Moyer for on

the fly, automatic adjustment of free length.• Torsion (5th) Axis- Servo controlled torsion axis provides the capability to feed straight lengths of

wire for the creation of torsion legs or magazine springs, or other wire forms. Includes torsion tool holders and a complete set of torsion tooling

• Lateral Coiling Point (6th Axis)- Servo control provides lateral movement of the coiling point motion (in & out of machine face) for on the fly control of initial tension and the production of complex wire forms

• Retractable Bending Arbor- Provides a bending anvil for use with lateral coiling point when performing more complex bends such as extension spring ends

• Laser Torsion Probe- The laser probe provides precise feedback of spring geometry to the FZ control system, enabling the spring maker to control critical dimensions such as the angular clocking of torsion legs and extension hooks

• Part Handling Devices- Such as dump troughs, conveyor belts, ejection devices • Wire Straighteners- High quality 2 plane wire straightener that eliminates cast in the wire resulting

in higher quality springs • Customer Configurable Programmable Inputs/Outputs- enables the connection of secondary

inline equipment• End of Wire Sensor-

This sensor signals the operator when the wire has run out, or will shut the machine down for lights out production

• Tool Breakage Sensor-In the unlikely event that a tool breaks, or something malfunctions in the set up, this sensor will stop the machine, preventing further damage

Great machines make happy customers!

“The efficiencies gained by reduced setup time, increased throughput, and significantly reduced scrap rate while holding extremely tight tolerances was immediately realized through a complete statistical analysis. The machine paid for itself within months. Success with our first Torin “Z” CNC led Springfield Spring to purchase another “Z” CNC coiler, followed by three more of the latest model, the Torin FZ Series. Our five newest Torin spring coilers replaced all [40] of our mechanicals, freeing up substantial space for new business endeavors. Fenn not only produces a top-notch machine but their sales, service, applications, and technical professionals are second to none. Fenn acts and responds like a business partner, not your traditional machine “dealer”. Springfield Spring continues to look forward to building our business with the help of Torin Spring Coilers for years to come.”

Ryan Nadeau, Operations Mgr, Springfield Spring Corp.

Gary Albers, Plant Manager MW Industries - Economy Spring Division

For over 100 years, FENN has been the leader in providing high quality swaging equipment for a variety of industries across the globe. Swaging is metal forming without cutting chips for reducing wire, tube or rod. It is a special type of forging in which metal is formed by rapid succession of hammer blows. It is a highly economical method to point tubing, rod, and wire for redraw- and to size, shape reduce, taper and bond or form metal parts, hot or cold. Swaging benefits include:

• Improves physical characteristics because metal is forged with improved grain structure, and increased elastic limit and tensile strength.

• Imparts a high finish, which in most cases eliminates finishing operations.

• Permits control of wall thickness through the use of a mandrel.

• Speeds assembly where tubes are to be crimped together, fittings attached to tubing, rod, hose, flexible tubing, or wire cable.

• Permits lower stock inventory: Swaging to the required size and finish permits stocking fewer sizes.

• Saves on material because metal is displaced longitudinally as it is hammered…not wasted into chips by removal.

• Tooling is relatively low in cost: Dies are quickly changed and tooling is extremely flexible.

• Saves on labor because highly skilled operators are not essential. Several machines incorporating mechanical feeds can be tended by a single operator.

Rotary Swagers:In a Rotary Swager, the dies and hammers revolve around the work, producing perfect symmetrical pieces with an exceptional finish. FENN offers nine basic sizes of Rotary Swaging machines ranging in capacity from needle size to 6” O.D. tubing.Rotary Swagers are available in two types: 2-die or 4-die, which can swage harder materials and generally achieve greater reductions per pass. See back page for capacities of all models.

Swaging Dies for Most Makes of Machines:Dies are the very heart of swaging machines. Production of precision parts requires high quality dies. It’s no coincidence that FENN, the leading supplier of swaging machines, is also the leading supplier of swaging dies. Whether your swager is small or large in size, your swager dies, hammers and other wear parts are made specifically with your machine and application in mind. All of our FENN made spare parts are crafted with expertise, accuracy and pride in the USA.

Long Die Swagers:For tapering tubing up to 24” long. FENN Long Die Swaging Machines produce long, shallow tapers for items such as furniture legs, sporting goods, aerospace products economically and rapidly. These machines serve a wide variety of materials: both welded and seamless tubing of either ferrous or nonferrous metals, from stainless steel to aluminum. Coolant/Slushing Systems are available as an option on all size swagers.

Stationary Die Swagers:For non-circular cross sections: because the dies and hammers do not revolve in a Stationary Die Swager, it is possible to forge asymmetrical shapes never before produced by swaging. Two basic types are available: simultaneous blow (fluted shapes, circular cross sections) and the patented alternate blow (rectangular shapes, squares and hexagons).

Turks Head

• Permits forming directly from round to square, rectangles and special shapes.

• Accurate width & thickness control.

• Greater flexibility because rolls are infinitely adjustable.

• Lower maintenance costs- rolls can be reground.

• The Turks Head rolling principle produces less inherent friction than drawing.

• Used for making a variety of different profiles.

Achieve precision wire shaping with Fenn Turks Heads. For over 100 years, Fenn has been a leader in providing quality metal forming solutions across the globe. The Turks Head is a metal forming machine that can be compared to an adjustable draw die, but is actually infinitely adjustable within its limiting dimensions. The Turks Head operates on the Rolling Mill principle and imparts the same qualities to the metal as the Rolling Mill does, namely superior finish, accurate size and shape, and improved grain structure of the metal. The Turks Head differs from a rolling mill in the number and arrangement of rolls. The Turks Head utilizes two pairs of rolls, one pair is arranged horizontally, while the other is arranged vertically. Each type of Fenn Turks Head is designed to meet a particular requirement of precision wire or rod shaping. With the exception of power driven models, all types require a pull-through power source such as a bull block, double capstan, shedding drum or rolling mill. www.fenn-torin.com [email protected] +1 860.259.6600

FENN is proud to have hundreds of installations across the globe including many successful well screen wire lines

The importance of a proper well screen cannot be overemphasized when considering the efficiency of the filtration process. Well Screen wire is widely used throughout the world for the filtration of water, oil, and gas wells, and is the dominant screen type used in the water well industry.

Well screens are made by winding rolled wire (typically stainless steel), triangular in cross section, around a circular array of longitudinal rods. The wire is attached to the rods by welding. With proven success across several installed lines, let FENN help your company become a leader in the production of well-screen wire with a line designed to suit your requirements.
