The Chairman and members of the Governing Council of Quality Circle Forum of India, Varanasi Centre feels immense pleasure in inviting you to participate in the 2nd Centre Convention on Quality Circle Concepts on 14th September 2014 in association with School of Management Sciences (SMS) Varanasi through case studies presentation (oral, model & visual), participations in poem, poster, quiz, Skit competitions, sharing of practical experiences of implementation for productivity and through quality improvement and cost reduction system.

QCFI, Varanasi Centre is established on 12th May 2012 and is enthusiastically spreading QC’s philosophy and concept to enhance the quality in every sphere of life. We feel pleasure to mention that in a short span of two year, Varanasi centre has successfully organized three workshops in association with Indian Medical Association, IIT(MCIIE) BHU and did arrangement for 23rd Kanpur Chapter Convention. In future QCFI and IIT(MCIIE) BHU will start mass based training programme for engineering and management students of social science along with employees of different prestigious organizations. Varanasi centre has gained wide acceptance by the recognized organizations of Varanasi for proper implementation of QC’s Ideas in society and in different service sectors.

Varanasi, one of the oldest and cultural cities in the world, has been a centre of national and international conferences in various areas like religion, philosophy, culture, political, scientific and technical. As the eminent English author Mark Twain wrote. “Banaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks as old as all of them put together.” QCFI Varanasi Centre Convention is indeed an opportunity which God has bestowed upon all the participants to get the blessing of Lord Shiva.

Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is our God) has always been a way of life of Varanasi and continuing with this ages old tradition, we invite you to attend the convention in this holy city. Please make yourself ready for an academic feast with the enjoyment of ‘Banarasi Masti’, ‘Banarasi Pan’ and ‘Banarasi Ghats’ of the river Ganga.

Nominate your Quality Circle and Allied teams, as many as possible, to have stronger exposure of Quality Circle concept at your organization. The selected case studies will be recommended for the forthcoming National Convention in December 2014 at Pune.

We look forward for your whole hearted support and cooperation by participating in large numbers in VRCCQC 2014 to make the convention a grand and memorable event.

CONVENTION OBJETIVES

• To provide opportunity to quality circles to freely express and exchange their ideas and to express their

achievements through case studies presentations.

• To give opportunity and to encourage creativity talent in quality circle members through competitions.

• To provide a forum for interaction and exchange of knowledge on quality circle concepts.

• To encourage the spirit of competition, teamwork and continuous improvement.

• To make QC movement self-generating and an ever growing segment of Total Quality Management.

• To select and recommend the case studies for forth coming National Convention on Quality Circles to be

held at Pune in December 2014

• To felicitate the participating team by presenting the mementos in three categories i.e. Par – Excellent,

Excellent, and Meritorious

LAST DATE OF SUBMISSIONAll case studies and technical papers and registration forms duly filled and signed along with organization profile + Registration Fee for participating QC members should reach the convention Secretariat before 8th September 2014 along with meeting register.

LANGUAGEThe language of the convention is Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Malyalum

AWARDS TO BE GIVEN Certificates will be given to all QC members.

Awards will be given to the QC teams for presenting their case studies (oral/visual/model) on merit basis.

One award will be given to the best circle presentation case study in VRCCQC 2014 from the units outside of the centre area.

One award will be given to the unit for sending maximum number of participants.

Awards will be given for Quiz and Skit competition.

II Case Study presentation on Quality Concepts : Case studies on various Quality Concepts as detailed below will be scheduled for presentation parallel sessions. The entire presentation (including explanation with the aid of models) need to be done in 15 minutes.

III. Knowledge Test for QC Team Members : Knowledge Test is not mandatory for Chapter Convention. Test score will not be considered for the case study evaluation in the Chapter Convention but the same will be considered to shortlist the teams for Quiz competition. The question paper will be given during registration. The same, duly answered, to be submitted before lunch on 14th September 2014.

IV. Forum for Facilitators and Co-ordinators : Executives, Managers, Co-ordinators and Facilitators who attend the convention will deliberate on convention theme.

V. Essay/Poster/Poem/Slogan Competitions : To encourage creativity in QC members, Essay/ Poster/ Poem/ Slogan Competitions will be organized. Essays' on the theme of the Convention may be submitted along with the case studies on or before 08.09.2014. Only the registered delegates are eligible to participate.

VI. Model Exhibition : Teams are required to display their QC name and organization at the Model Exhibition. The criteria for evaluation will be on relevance to the project presented, creativity, use of scrap, skill of explaining, moving/live model. Judges will visit the Exhibition on 14th September 2014 at 11 AM to evaluate and select the best model.

VII. Quiz Contest : Three QC teams for quiz contest will be selected on the basis of Knowledge Test score.

VIII. Cultural Programme : Cultural Programme will be organized on 14th September 2014, where in, different events like skit, dance, mimicry etc. will be performed by the participants. Interested members may give their consent before hand so that necessary arrangement can be made.

IX. Special Attraction : There will be QCFI Books’ exhibition and Varanasi Handicrafts exhibition cum sale
