PLB-WBC Boilers
From PLB ECOWOOD Ltd.
RHI Compliant on woodchip
The Heateco PLB-WBC boiler range has been designed primarily for the UK biomass market.
Heateco have been manufacturing biomass boilers for many years. Heateco are specialists in the design and construction of large scale biomass boilers for the commercial and industrial market.
They have installations all over Europe. Where reliability, economy, and effective heating is of utmost importance. Heateco boilers can be depended on to deliver all of these.
The boiler design allows for effective use of the fuel and flexibility of installation.
The capacity range of these boilers is from 100 Kw to 1500 Kw. The two boilers that we feel are ideal for the present UK market are the 499 Kw and the 998 Kw. Both these boilers are RHI compliant.
The Key Features of Heateco boilers are as follows
• Fully RHI compliant
• Fully automated
• Quality workmanship
• Robust construction
• Extremely efficient
• Excellent value for money
• Designed to increase the durability of the boiler
• Multiple built in safety systems to prevent burn back

WHY CHOOSE A HEATECO BIOMASS BOILER?These boilers are designed with the UK market in mind. They feature easy to use straight forward operation systems.
This medium size commercial boiler is just what the market demands, especially now the RHI structure has changed to favour medium size biomass installations. These Heateco boilers are helping the environment by reducing your carbon foot print. Unlike some of our competitors our boilers are economical to buy yet offer an excellent standard of workmanship and quality. The robust design makes them a more efficient and easier boiler for most circumstances. A hardworking less problematic boiler, less likely to block yet still efficient.
Designed to take a G50 chip and incorporating safety features should the unlikely event of a burn back occur.
Heateco boilers can be used for all industrial applications from hospitals, hotels, care homes, factories, process heating i.e. chip and log drying systems, district heating and Farms.

Automatic Optimization Combustion ControlThe Heatco boiler controls the combustion process using two key factors.
1. Exhaust gas temperature
This ensures combustion takes place at extremely high temperatures thus ensuring a clean burn, low particulate matter and low ash. This is made possible due to the refractory lined combustion chamber.
2. Exhaust gas velocity
This ensures regardless of atmospheric conditions and stage of combustion that the combustion chamber is always kept at the correct negative pressure. This ensures combustion takes place under ideal conditions and also improves safety as it reduces the possibility of burn back.

Heateco boilers are equipped with robust powerful trough augers this ensures up to G50 chip can be used without difficulty. The auger motors have thermal over load sensors and are reversible so if a blockage does occur or a foreign body such as a stone or piece of steel gets in to the fuel it will stop rather than continue and cause damage such as a snapped auger or burnt out motors.
Industry standard fuels
Heateco boilers have three safety systems in place which ensures maximum safety at all times.

The diagram below shows these systems, which include quench valves on feeding auger and stoke auger. These flood the augers in the unlikely event of a burn-back. Also the rotary valve which ensures that the fuel in the stoker auger and the feed auger never come into contact.

Induced draughtHeateco boilers use induced draught technique.
The induced draught technique i.e. fan providing a negative pressure in the combustion chamber as opposed to relying on the chimney height and hot air rising to create the negative pressure. This technique has many advantages, firstly this ensures there is always a negative pressure throughout the boiler regardless of atmospheric conditions thus ensuring high operational safety without the risk of deflagration in the stoker auger.
Secondly the induced draught fan enables the use of an economiser to increase boiler efficiency by 5% Higher than if there was no economiser.
An economiser takes heat out of the waste flue gasses. This heat would normally
go straight up the chimney and into the atmosphere.
On most boilers the flue gasses leaving the boiler would be between 180 to 210 degree’s C However on the Heateco the flue gasses go in to the economiser and will leave the economiser at around 90 to 100 degrees C. On most boilers this heat would go to waste not on the Heateco.
Some may argue, you incur a higher running cost due to the extra electricity needed to run the induced draught fan. The induced draught fan uses 0.25 kw of electricity per hour which equates to about 3.75p assuming a cost of 15p per kwh for electricity. However the economiser gives you 5% extra efficiency so on the 499kw model you will get an extra 24.95 kwh of heat for 0.25 kwh of electricity used.

The fire can be regulated between minimum and maximum settings. So that in the autumn and spring when heating loads are smaller the fuel and air flow can be adjusted to suit the lower heat requirements. This prevents pauses in combustion thereby preventing the build up of tar caused by smouldering in the combustion chamber during the pause.
Combustion settings
After short breaks in combustion the refractory lined combustion chamber retains enough heat that when new fuel is introduced it will ignite from the remaining heat and embers. The ignition fan only needs to be activated after long periods without combustion. To save electricity the ignition fan is deactivated after successful ignition, the photo sensor detects flame and shuts the ignition fan off. Heateco boilers use ceramic igniters which have a life expectancy of 100,000 heating cycles.

The fuel enters the combustion chamber from the under fed retort system. This automatically agitates the fuel thus ensuring complete combustion and the subsequent ash falls in to the ash auger tray below. From here the automatic deashing is administrated by the deashing auger which transports the ash to a galvanized wheelie bin for convenient disposal.
Automatic deashing System
Heateco wood chip heating systems can be adapted to fit all configurations of chimneys. This reduces the complexity of the installation. The variable speed draught fan ensures a constant negative pressure in the combustion chamber regardless of chimney height and atmospheric conditions.

Exhaust gas recirculation can be added. This allows for the fitting of ceramic filters and to comply with the WID 2 second rule allowing Heateco boilers to run on waste wood and shavings and still complying with the RHI emission limits which makes the

Heateco boiler a very attractive option for furniture factories and poultry farms who want to turn their waste in to heat and RHI.
