What is Mobile Learning?Current perspectives on mobile learning generally fall into the following four broad categories:
Technocentric - learning using a mobile device eg. phone, psp, PDA, iPod etc.
Relationship to e-learning - seen as an extension of e-learning
Augmenting formal education - formal education is seen as face to face (lecture driven). Loosely they describe the concept of Distance education.
Learner-centred - Learning that takes advantage of opportunities presented by mobile devices. Smartphone Revolution
Smartphone Adoption in AUS is 2nd in the World at 37%, only Singapore is higher.
Mobile market penetration is currently at 75% and is expected to be at 96% by 2014.
iOS 42%, Android 29% growing quickly.
Google has adopted a mobile first mantra.
