What is Mobile Learning?Current perspectives on mobile learning generally fall into the following four broad categories:

Technocentric - learning using a mobile device eg. phone, psp, PDA, iPod etc.

Relationship to e-learning - seen as an extension of e-learning

Augmenting formal education - formal education is seen as face to face (lecture driven). Loosely they describe the concept of Distance education.

Learner-centred - Learning that takes advantage of opportunities presented by mobile devices. Learner is not at a fixed, pre determined location.(Source: Winters, N 2007, ‘What is Mobile Learning?’ Big Issues in Mobile Learning, Kaleidoscope Learning Sciences Research Institute, University of Nottingham, Nottingham England pp7-8)
