PIAT

Pune Institute of Applied Technology has a well equipped studio replete with audio-visual aids such as

OHP, LCD, Audio system. The studio is exclusively designed for additional input such as seminars, guest

lectures, presentation etc. Interaction with Consultants, Practicing Architects and Interior designer

enrich students by providing them the experience of business and profession on wide ranging topics

from Academics to Time Management, Personality Development, Yoga, Stress Management to Global

Business Practices.

STUDIO

COMPUTER LABS

The Suryadatta computer centre is well equipped with computing resources for catering to the

academic needs of the students. The computer lab has 32 higher end terminals. Students have

unlimited access to internet at these nodes. Softwares available in the lab are Windows XP server, MS

Office, Auto-CAD, Google Sketchup etc. The lab can be accessed by the students for about 6 hours a

day. Since PIAT has integrated computers for information technology into the learning process, many

courses at the institutes use appropriate computer based models.

The library is a rich resource centre, providing multi functional services and facilities to meet the ever-

growing requirements of the students/professionals. The library has huge collection of books,

periodicals, magazines and journals on Interior Design, Information Technology and allied areas.

SURYADATTA is institutional member of British Council Library (BLC), Mahratta Chamber of Commerce

Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), Pune Management Association (PMA) etc. There is a general

reading room where all newspapers and magazines are available.

THEME BASED EXHIBITION ORGANISED BY SURYADATTA STUDENTS To showcase the academic and extracurricular talent of the students every year, PIAT organises a mega

exhibition “AURA”. It is a theme based exhibition by means of which students gets a vibrant platform to

showcase their hidden talent and art. This exhibition also provides good opportunity to display their work and

get the placement assistance as many Architects, Interior Designers, Builders, Suppliers, Service providers visit

this exhibition.

Being a theme based exhibition, every year for the decorum we have used various themes like Under Water,

Seven Wonders, Best from the waste, Garage, Ajanta caves, Palace, Reflection, Motion etc. Through the

exhibition we have tried to put focus on some of the social issues like joint family and nuclear families, old age

homes etc. Even we had given free service of design consultancy to the society. These themes are adding

unique identity and interest to the exhibition.

Every year PIAT students and faculty members work day & night to make the event successful. During the

exhibition student exhibit their projects, models, paintings, handicraft and portfolios. This event is open for all.

It has been receiving tremendous response every year. This is one of the most awaited event for all the students

and faculty members. Parents are also looking forward for this exhibition every year.

India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, spanning a period of more than 4000 years, and

witnessing the fusion of several customs and traditions, which are reflective of the rich culture and

heritage of the Country. The history of the nation gives a glimpse into the magnanimity of its evolution -

from a Country reeling under colonialism, to one of the leading economies in the global scenario within a

span of Fifty years. More than anything, the nationalistic fervour of the people is the contributing force

behind the culmination of such a development. This transformation of the nation instills a sense of

national pride in the heart of every Indian within the Country and abroad, and our exhibition this year is a

modest attempt at keeping its flame alive.

This new-fangled edition of our “METEORS” is the very footstone of our success towards eliciting a bulletin

defining the modus operandi of our institute ‘SEF’S PIAT’. Meteors is a booklet which displays the various

works and achievements by our ex-students, ie. “Our shooting stars.” These students have moved really fast

into the field of design to create a bright future for their career. They shine like a shooting star in the field of

interior design. This book is an initiative to give a platform to our ‘meteors’ to show the world their work and

creativity. And to motivate the ‘new comers’ in the field to be one of them. Our only intention behind

publishing the book is to encourage all our students to work harder and harder towards becoming the

brightest stars in our field. This being our very first edition we intend to elucidate entire year’s curriculum, the

Designing firms as well as known Builders. We guide the students to enroll with Institute of Indian Interior

Designers (IIID) through which they can get the jobs in Multinational firms. Every year most of the students

get placed through this Placement Cell.

After completing the course of DIDD you can go for Advance course in Landscaping, Interior Design,

Vastushastra, Construction Management etc. Students can join any Architectural or Interior Designing firm

as an Assistant Designer to start with or they can also work as freelancer on their own projects.
