Brother Knights,

About a month ago, I

mailed out the Dues Notice

letter for 2018-2019. With

the Council’s approval last

December, the membership

calendar now starts on July

first and runs through June

thirtieth of the following

year.

I am disappointed to

report that only 53% of the

members who are required

to pay dues have submitted

their dues payment. I there-

fore will mail out a second

Dues Notice to the delin-

quent members.

Compared to other fra-

ternal organizations in the

area, our council member-

ship dues is only a fraction

of other organization’s

dues. The money collected

from the dues payments

help pay for the fixed costs,

By SK M. James Mortillaro, FN

Brother Sir Knights and friends,

On June 30, 2018, the Hudson

Valley Chapter hosted the Charity

Ball, here in Msgr. Loughlin

Memorial Hall. I am grateful to

report that several Assembly officers

attended the Ball, as it raised funds

for the restoration of the Shrine of

Our Lady of Martyrs, in upstate New

York (a 2-1/2 hour drive from the

Hudson Valley), the place where St.

Issac Jogues was martyred. There

are efforts underway to designate

this holy place as a National Shrine.

In July, we hosted our annual

Veterans' Picnic at Castle Point VA

on Sunday, July 15, 2018. While

thunderstorms the prior night added

to humidity, the picnic was a sunny

success with a pleasant, cool breeze

under the pavilion (which, I am told,

was built by Past Faithful Navigator

Don Feeney). The picnic was

enhanced by a band playing folk

music. Let me start by thanking

Jimmy C. for securing a donation

from the NY State Corrections

Officers PBA, to cover the expenses

of the picnic. Next, I would like to

thank Past Faithful Navigator

("PFN") Jeff Boldrin for his guidance

and limitless support for this event;

also, I thank him for rallying with

PFN John "Jaybo" Simons in

obtaining coolers to transport the

food and beverages to the picnic.

Thanks also (in alphabetic order) to

Dave Bell, Cathy Boldrin, SK Hank

Boldrin, SK Mike Catoggio, PFN

Richard Fitzgerald, SK Mike

Hernandez, SK Ron Kowalczyk, PFN

Tom Lynch III, SK Tony and Debbie

Siconolfi, PFN Tom Tompkins & his

wife Patty, and PGK Mike Van

Voorhis. Thanks to you, Castle Point

looks forward to seeing us next year

(which, tentatively, should be

Sunday, July 21, 2019).

There will not be an Assembly

business meeting this month

(August), but our Color Corps will

participate in the Deceased

Members' Mass on Sunday, August

12, 2018 at 9:00am in St. Mary's

Church.

Looking ahead, we anticipate

having our Installation of Assembly

Officers on Wednesday, September

12, 2018. Details will follow in the

September newsletter.

I hope that you are enjoying

your summer with your families and

loved ones. In between the county

fairs and other seasonal festivities,

please remember to give thanks for

our country and its abundance.

St. Issac Jogues, pray for us.
