burning up, not only from the landscape crew cutting the grass too short, but also from lack of

rain. AND, we cannot water except on Thursdays and Sundays (before 10 am and after 4 pm).

I have a beautiful Estey Legend Millenni-um Edition organ that my mother used to

play. It does need some sort of computer adjustment that I was told should cost

only about $100 to fix.

I remember my mother playing all kinds

of things. Piano, back-up instruments and all kinds of fancy things that sounded

just beautiful.

I was wondering if anybody in the com-plex would be interested in it. I am sure

we could get a few guys to move it. And

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said to the old man.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened. Heavily sedated because

of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen

tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp

ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young

Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love

and strength Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile. He re-

fused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises

of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging

greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to

his son all through the night. Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now life-

less hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

"Who was that man?" he asked. The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered. "No, he

wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life." "Then why didn't you say something

when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son wasn't

here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he

needed me, I stayed." I came here tonight to find a Mr. William Grey. His Son was Killed in Iraq to-

day, and I was sent to inform him. What was this Gentleman's Name?

Anne Anderson, former resident of Raintree Village has

passed. She had returned to Honolulu, Hawaii eight years ago, where she had spent many working years as a paralegal

secretary. She travelled widely, loved Jazz Festivals, was a reader, and volunteered at the Clearwater Library for many years. The mature plumeria bushes on the right as you enter

the pool parking lot were planted by Anne, as are many cut-

tings around Raintree Village. She was 89.

Why do cats like paper bags:

To a cat, the basic brown paper bag is a crisp, fresh new toy, just waiting to be personally

scent-marked, cleverly hidden within, ripped and pounced upon. Kitty views this toy as something she can use for hunting practice, which is what feline playtime is all about any-way. Cats love to pretend that they are stalking prey and a stiff brown sack works quite

well for this. They can hide behind or inside it, they can move it across the floor, and then enthusiastically pounce at the trapped imaginary critter. The bag holds its shape pretty

well but also scrunches and smashes to further add interest to the hunting game. Cats like things that make interesting sounds and the crinkle of paper is one of their favorites. Stick a fake mouse inside the bag or tap the outside when the cat is crouching inside to mimic

the patter of little creature feet, and you'll be providing kitty with some exercise and mental stimulation. Older bags usually lose their appeal after awhile so it's best to pull out a new

one often. (Avoid using bags with handles as kitty can get tangled)

A couple of days ago news broke about a group of hackers calling themselves the Turkish Crime Family claiming they had access to at least 300 million Apple accounts, and were de-

manding a ransom of $75,000 in Bitcoin or Ethereum or $100,000 in iTunes gift cards directly from Apple. The hackers are threatening to remotely wipe victims' devices if Apple doesn't pay

by April 7.

Apple responded to the threat by stating that there had not been any breach of its systems,

and that if hackers had access to iCloud accounts then they must have gotten them from third party services — people often reuse their same credentials for multiple websites, which is a

poor security practice.

To prove they’re not joking around the group recently contacted ZDNet with a small sample of 54 account credentials for verification purposes. Some accounts dated back to 2011 and were

no longer in use, but of those that could be contacted by ZDNet, 10 people confirmed that the

passwords were accurate.

Now, this doesn’t prove that the hackers have managed to obtain 300,000 credentials, just that they do have access to some. Moreover, most of the people confirmed that they used their

iCloud email address and password on other sites, although three claimed that they weren’t

used in any other site.

Whether the threat is to be taken seriously or the result of a group of hackers looking for

some publicity and the possibility of a quick payout (which we doubt will ever happen), it

wouldn’t be a bad idea to change your Apple account password and enable two-factor authenti-

cation if you haven’t already done so.

It was early one morning when the Pastor heard a noise outside his door. When he opened it, he found

a jackass standing outside, which immediately fell over dead. Not exactly knowing what to do about the

situation, he called the local sheriff and told him about the situation, and the dead jackass. The old sher-

iff couldn’t resist jabbing the Minister a bit, and said, “Pastor, I thought the first duty of a Minister in a

situation like this was to bury the dead.”

Without hesitation, the Pastor said, “No, the first duty of a Minister is to notify the next of kin.”

It's not surprising that some people wait until they're 80 to take up skydiving., If you're going to have your life flash before your eyes, at least it will be a longer trip.

It says in the Book of Genesis that Adam lived to be 900 years old. That explains why Eve ate

the apple and they had to put on clothes. Nobody wants to see a 900-year-old man naked.

"Mom," he said, "I keep telling you - you

have to back up your hard drive!"

"I would, son," Barb replied, "If you would just show me how to put the dammed thing

in reverse!"

A Golfer's Story.

One day, while an elderly golfer was chipping his ball from near a water hazard, his club fell into the wa-

ter. When he cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, "Why are you crying?"

The golfer replied that his club had fallen into water, and he needed the club to win the tournament to

supplement his meager pension.

The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with a golden club. "Is this your club?" the Lord

asked. The golfer replied, "No." The Lord again went down and came up with a silver club. "Is this your

club?" the Lord asked. Again, the golfer replied, "No." The Lord went down again and came up with an

iron club. "Is this your club?" the Lord asked. The golfer replied, "Yes."

The Lord was pleased with the golfer's honesty and gave him all three clubs to keep, and the golfer went

home happy.

Sometime later the golfer was walking with his wife along the water hazard, and she fell into the river.

When he cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked him, "Why are you crying?" "Oh Lord, my wom-

an has fallen into the water!"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with Kate Upton. "Is this your woman?" the Lord asked.

"Yes," cried the golfer. The Lord was furious. "You lied! That is an untruth!"

The golfer replied, "Oh, forgive me Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to Kate Up-

ton, You would have come up with Jennifer Anniston. Then if I said 'no' to her, you would have come up

with my woman. Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. And Lord, I am an old man

not able to take care of all three women in a way that they deserve, that's why I said yes to Kate

Upton ."

And God was pleased. The moral of this story is: If a golfer ever tells a lie, it is for

a good and honorable reason, and only out of consideration for others,

What's Cooking? .... A Raintree Village Cookbook is in the Making!

"Who brought the rice dish? It's delicious !"

"I need the recipe for that casserole!" "Did you try the salad? It's amazing!" How many times have we heard comments like these at our RTV dish-to-pass events? Our

little community boasts many fine cooks & bakers....one of the reasons our monthly get-togethers are so successful!

Wouldn't it be great to share the recipes of those favorite dishes we all look forward to sam-pling every month? Ding, ding, ding....an idea is hatched!!

I'm headed back up north shortly, but I'd love to work on creating a special cookbook over the coming months. The plan is to compile the recipes you send in, and have the cookbook

completed by the fall. They will be available for sale, with all proceeds benefiting our Toys For Tots Holiday fundraiser. I'm looking for your favorite "dish-to-pass"

Appetizer, Casserole, Salad, Sides and Sweets recipes. Allie ([email protected]) has offered to help compile recipes! Send them (preferably

by e-mail, but we'll take them handwritten or typed, too) along with instructions and any notes or stories to accompany the recipes. Send as many as you'd like to share, in as many of the categories you choose.

We'll update the cookbook's progress in upcoming newsletters. Thank you in advance for supporting this project!

It continues to amaze me over the years how the Raintree Village monthly dining out choices of restau-

rants just keep getting better and better. This month’s choice was made by Lee Evans and the choice

was perfect; The Carmel Kitchen & Wine Bar. This unique restaurant is located right off Enterprise and

McMullen Booth Road. Carmel Kitchen has a beautiful wide open dining area and a lounge area outside.

There is a full bar and a very unique menu. If you want to see what your menu choice looks like, your

server will bring it up on their tablet. And there is a FREE wine sampling station open between 6 and

7pm. Gabe, once again, made his way to two of the cutest female servers. This time the manager, Ter-

ry, and server, Joann, got into the picture. Service was superb and very professional. By 6:30 there was

not a seat left and that says a lot about the restaurant, especially on a Wednesday night. A great dining

out experience and it was another nice night of camaraderie with the Raintree folks. Saw some new fac-

es tonight, but did not get their names. I am sure that this restaurant will be re-visited by the Raintree
