Pacifi c Precision Grinding has been grinding precision cu ng tools since 1957. For many years Pacifi c has manufactured Machined Parts and Cu ng Tools for the Aerospace and Automo ve Industries. In 1994 Dave Kiff joined Pacifi c Precision Grinding and brought with him a wealth of cu ng tool knowledge. Dave formed what is now known as Pacifi c Tool and Gauge.

Chambering Reamers

Chambering Reamers and Headspace Gauges are available for every standard, custom, and foreign caliber. Chamber reamers are furnished in three basic sizes— Finish, resize and rougher. Finish reamers are precisely ground to cut minimum size chambers and sea ng dies. Resize reamers are used as precise full length resizing die reaming and can double as a precise rougher. Our carbide Roughing reamers (core drills) are fantas c for fast stock removal in roughing out a chamber cavity before using the fi nish reamer. We have over 22,000 chamber reamer and gauge prints on fi le, so if it’s been made we can grind it! We also carry many standard reamers, wildcat reamers & gauges on the shelf for immediate delivery.

Custom and Wildcat Reamers

Remember, if you need a reamer size changed or if we have a Wildcat or custom print on fi le there is no extra charge. Also, if you send your drawing or any other manufacturers print we will grind the tools at no extra charge. Please allow 1 to 6 weeks for comple on. If you would like us to design a reamer call us with specs, or send in a dummy round.Reamer tolerances: Finish Reamers minimum +.0004 and also for the produc on shops we havepopular calibers in carbide and M-42 in stock .001 over min. FEATURES

Alignment of a chambering or crowning reamer to the rifl e bore is extremely cri cal to controlling quality of cut as well as dimensions. There have been many ar cles wri en and many procedures developed to instruct gunsmiths on the best methods to achieve this alignment. In fact, many precision gunsmiths have been under the impression that if they align the barrel within .0001 or 0.0002 inches at each end of the headstock and have their tailstock within the same alignment, that they do not have a problem. This is far from true because regardless of how much care we take to align the tailstock to headstock there is s ll some misalignment present and that can vary with tailstock considera on. We all know that there is no such thing as a perfectly straight barrel. Therefore, just because both ends are indicated to within 0.0001 inches does not mean that the bore where the chamber is going to be is within the same alignment.A fl oa ng reamer holder needs to have the freedom to fl oat ver cally, horizontally and angularly. It needs to fl oat without resistance or binding. The bald Eagle Floa ng Reamer holder is designed to fl oat freely in the ver cal, horizontal and angular direc ons. It u lizes a hardened spherical surface against a hardened fl at. Evalua on of a number of diff erent designs has proven this method to be the only one that would result in fi nished chamber dimensions that closely match the reamer.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USESince the Bald Eagle Floa ng Reamer Holder is not restrained, it does require a li le diff erent procedure than other methods of reamer control. It is recommended that you prac ce on a piece of barrel scrap to develop the feel and technique to use this holder.

1. Use the fl oa ng holder only with reamers that either have properly fi t bore bushings or with solid pilotedreamers that have the pilot fi ed to the bore. The fl oa ng holder allows the reamer to fully fl oat and aproperly fi ed bushing in the bore is required to prevent bore marking (this also occurs with other holdersdue to binding).2. Insert the reamer shank in the fl oa ng holder and ghten both set screws against the fl ats on the shank.3. Set the barrel up in the lathe per your normal method (two methods preferred by Borden Accuracy are inprecision 6 jaw chuck on surface turned concentric with bore or running in steady rest on straight shank turnedconcentric with bore).4. It is recommended that roughing, resize and fi nish reamers are used to cut the en re chamber. This allowsmaximum capability of ensuring that the throat, neck and body of the chamber are concentric to the bore.5. Carefully place the bushing in the bore while suppor ng the reamer in your hand. The weight of the reamer can cause binding of the bushing if the weight of the reamer is not supported while the length of the bushing is inserted into the bore.6. Start the lathe and carefully feed the reamer for the depth of cut that you desire.7. Back off tailstock pressure on the reamer while stopping the lathe. DO NOT pull reamer back as this cancause marking of chambers - just relieve the forward pressure on the reamer.

Micro Adjustable Reamer Stop Kit$188.99

This is a add-on device that controls the depth a reamer can cut. It uses the reamer itself as the micrometer pinion and the barrel tendon face as the anvil. It does not ma er where the tailstock or the carriage is located, it measures off the reamer. It func ons with a fl oa ng reamer holder too. These new Micrometer Reamer Stops have 50 indexing marks and will allow for .0005” adjustments. The gunsmith can preset the Micrometer Adjustable Reamer Stop to about .020” out and ream without worry. Then re-measure, adjust once, and make the fi nal cut right on the money.

ACTION BLUE PRINTING JIG

This is the best thing to hit the bolt rifl e accurizing market for ac ons! This is not a sacrifi cial collar that onlydoes round style receivers. It’s a jig that works on round, square, fl at bo om-round top, long, and short. To date

all Remington bolt ac ons, long and short. Winchester’s long and short. Sako’s and I mean all of them. Savage’slong and short. Brno, Marlin, Weatherby, Ruger M77, etc.. The one that has not worked yet is a Ruger MK II 77with the investment cast trigger hanger.The ac on jig is held by a 4 jaw chuck . The rifl e ac on to be accurized is held inside the jig. With 4 front and 4rear centering adjustment pads, the rear having two loca ons for long & short ac ons, the center-line axis of thebolt bore raceway can be perfectly aligned with the rota ng

axis of the lathe. All single point machining of thereceiver face, lugs, and threads will be concentric. Perfec on is obtained by the use of two dial indicators to set perfect alignment. One placed on the alignment mandrel at the receiver face and the second placed at the end of the mandrel . When both dials indicate 1/10,000 or less run out at the same me and in the same rhythm, perfec on has been accomplished not desired. Once dialed in you DO NOT CHANGE OR MOVE the setup. All machin-ing will be in perfect rela on to each other and all to the axial center of the bolt bore raceway!

With the once accepted method of turning a collar with the ac on between centers and then moun ng in a 4 jawand indica ng only the collar in, two devasta ng accuracy robbing mistakes have been made. # 1 you havemoved your setup form your collar cut and will be machining from a secondary setup. You have lost center linealignment. # 2 you dialed in the collar around the ac on in a four jaw chuck to 1/10,000 or less and believe youhave achieved alignment. Here is the fl y in the soup. Are the jaws on your chuck perfectly parallel with the rota ng axis of the lathe to 1/10,000. If you put back or leave the mandrel in the ac on and check the run out at the end of the mandrel, you will with a sinking feeling see the ac on rota ng in a progressively larger cone as youmove away from the collar you dialed in on. The problem with the collar system is no way to take out this misalignment in this type setup. ALL MACHINING WILL BE INACCURATE & ASKEW FROM CENTER LINE OF THE BOLT BORE!
