c. UGC Sponsored Innovative Course - Post Graduate Diploma in Biodiversity Informative is offered by the Department of Botany. Rs.3000/- fees per year.

Eligibility :

1. Lab fee Rs. 120/- for each allied subject per semester to be paid for U.G. classes along with lab fee for major subject.

Students may also join in any one of following courses along with a regular UG Programme. A separate application must be made for these additional courses and the fees should be paid at the time of admission to UG regular programme. Classes will be conducted outside the class hours.

Career Oriented Programmes approved by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi will be of a Certificate in I year, Diploma in II year and Advanced Diploma in III year. The Society of Jamal Mohamed College administers the College. It was founded in 1951 as an affiliated College to the University of Madras, and is now affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli from 1982. It was established as a religious minority institution with the primary objective of providing higher education to the downtrodden and socially backward sections of the society in general and Muslim minority in particular. Haji. M. Jamal Mohamed Sahib and Janab. N.M.Khajamian Rowther of revered memory were the founding fathers of this institution. Dr.A.K.Khaja Nazeemudeen is the present Secretary & Correspondent of the College.

The College was inaugurated in 1951 with 220 students and 12 staff members with intermediate courses and degree programmes in B.A. (Economics) and B.A. (Islamic History). Over the period of 66 years, the College was able to scale greater heights and raise to the present status as a multi faculty institution with 21 U.G Courses (B.A. B.Sc. B.Com. BBA and BCA), 21 P.G Courses including MCA & MBA (AICTE approved) and Research Programmes (M.Phil. & Ph.D.) in 16 Departments, by promoting quality and excellence in higher education with the sustained efforts and guidance given by the College Management Committee.

The College has grown from strength to strength under the able leadership of great men who adorned the seat of Principalship from 1951. Late Alhaj. Janab. M.J.Mohamed Sayeed (1951-1970), Late Prof. E.W.P. Thomas (1970-1971), Late. Haji. Prof. E.P.Mohamed Ismail (1971-1985), Haji.Dr.C.Nainar Mohamed (1985-1989), Haji.Prof.N.Abdul Samadh(1989-1998), Dr.K.Abdullah Basha (1998-2003), Haji Dr. M. Sheik Mohamed (2003-2011), Haji Dr. R. Khader Mohideen (2011-2013) Dr. A.M. Mohamed Sindhasha (2013-14) were the Principals in succession during those period. Dr.S. Mohamed Salique took over as the Principal from 2014-2015.

The College has been accredited at Five Star Level by NAAC during 2002 and conferred with Autonomous Status by UGC, New Delhi and Bharathidasan University in 2004-2005. In January 2009, the College was reaccredited with A-Grade - CGPA 3.6 out of 4.0. The college celebrated Diamond Jubilee functions during 2010-2011. Our College was bestowed with the unique honour of "CPE" status(Phase-II) by the University Grants Commission under the Scheme "Colleges with Potential for Excellence". We have retained ‘A’ Grade by NAAC during the third cycle of re-accreditation in 2015. The College has adopted Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) giving mobility to the students of U.G. & P.G. to study Electives in any discipline they like and to improve their skill in different fields including Gender Studies. Deeniyath Education is imparted to Muslim students outside the class hours.

The College strives to spread the light of knowledge, inculcate ethical values and spirit of service to society and build discipline and character in the youth entrusted to its fold so that they become proud citizens of this great nation. It keeps its doors open to all without any discrimination of caste, creed or colour.

FEE CONCESSIONS

HOSTEL

1. Students belonging to Differently Abled, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are awarded fee concession.

2. Government Scholarship is available for SC / ST / SCA / BC / MBC / DNT / DNC and Ph.D. Research Scholars.

3. Alumni and well wishers scholarship will be given to economically poor and meritorious students.

Accommodation is available to 2200 students in the hostel for UG, PG, MCA, MBA, and Sports Students separately. Students requiring hostel admission should apply in separate application form available in the Hostel Office. There are six non-vegetarian messes and they are run on dividing system.

Students admitted in the Hostel will abide by the rules and regulations in force and by those which may be framed from time to time.

All students at the time of Hostel admission should produce two copies (1 stamp size and 1 passport size) of photographs.

All bills should be cleared on the date announced every month whether the scholarship is received or not.Note : Muslim boarders must attend daily prayers, Deeniyath Courses and observe fasting

during Ramzan.

1. For Men and Women, separate application forms are available for U.G, P.G, MBA and MCA Courses of Aided and Self-finance Programmes.

2. All applications must reach the college office within 12 days from the date of declaration of the result of H.S.C. or Degree Examinations.

3. Candidates who have passed CBSE or HSC conducted by Boards other than Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Secondary Examination and Graduates from other Universities shall be required to produce an ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE from the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.

4. Candidates are required to quote their application number in all their correspondence. 5. As applications for admission are usually far in excess of the seats available, the list of

students selected for provisional admission for each of the course will be put up on the College notice board and uploaded in the College Website (www.jmc.edu). Selected students will also be intimated by SMS to their Mobile. Regret cards will not be sent to those applicants who are not selected for admission.

6. Students must bring a copy of their passport size photograph when called for interview (if he seeks admission into the hostel he must bring 2 more copies)

7. Applicants should produce the following certificates in original at the time of interview.i) Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate or Degree Certificateii) Transfer Certificate iii) Community Certificate iv) Conduct CertificateStudents are advised to take atleast TEN photo copies of the Mark Statement, Community Certificate, Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate prior to submission of the originals at the College Office.

13. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

14. Tuition fee (only for PG) and Laboratory fee will be collected in each semester and special

fees must be paid for the whole year.

15. Please note that, incorrect and incomplete applications shall not be considered for

admission. If any of the particulars furnished by the applicant is later found to be false, the

applicant has to forfeit his seat and fee.

16. Admission is subject to verification of marks certificate by the Director of Govt. Exams and if

the certificate is found to be bogus, admission is liable for cancellation besides criminal action

being taken.

17. All admissions will be made as per the Government norms and executed by the Committee

constituted by the Management.

18. For Admission into MCA the marks obtained in Common Entrance Test conducted by Anna

University or any other Association of Colleges must be enclosed.

19. Admission is not guaranteed to the course opted for.

20. Admission to the College does not guarantee admission to the College Hostel.

21. A student who has studied Tamil upto XII Std, and takes other languages like Arabic, French,

Hindi, Urdu in UG under Part-I has to study Advanced Tamil under Part-IV (Non Major

Elective).

22. A student who has studied Arabic, French, Hindi, Urdu up to XII Std, can study the same

language under Part-I. However he has to study Basic Tamil in Part-IV (Non Major

Elective).

1. Ragging and harassment inside and outside the College and Hostels are strictly prohibited

and will attract penal action as per UGC regulations.

2. The College is a "Alcohol and Smoke Free Zone". Violators will be severely punished as per

rules.

The college does not collect capitation fee nor does it accept donation for admission

to any of the courses offered in the college. If anyone promises to get admission on

payment of donation, the matter should be brought to the notice of the Principal.
