PROMES Process Models for Engineering of Embedded Systems Project leader Matias Vierimaa VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Email address project leader matias.vierimaa@vtt.fi Project website https://itea3.org/project/promes.html OBJECTIVES PROMES will develop new mechanisms for defining and handling process components while integrating mechanical, electronics, software and service development disciplines. PROMES’ objective is to clarify how can process compositions: n support cooperative development of different disciplines? n support distributed development in different locations and organisations? n coordinate multiple lifecycle approaches effectively? PROJECT SUMMARY Embedded Systems are composed of mechanical, electronics, and software components. Only a smooth integration of these parts can ensure their functionality. The development processes for Embedded Systems have to ensure multi-disciplinary, multi-site and multi-organisation development at the same time. New engineering technologies have come up such as model driven development or product line engineering which have put new challenges on processes. BUSINESS VALUE & EXPECTED RESULTS n Reduced lead time and costs in product & service development n Increased collaboration through out the value chain n Process framework containing: - methods for designing and maintaining process components, - a set of predefined standard components including tools, and - guidelines for applying the framework in real-world contexts

ObjEctivESPROMES will develop new mechanisms for defining and handling process components while integrating mechanical, electronics, software and service development disciplines. PROMES’ objective is to clarify how can process compositions:

n support cooperative development of different disciplines?

n support distributed development in different locations and organisations?

n coordinate multiple lifecycle approaches effectively?
