Project Synopsis

The main goal is to find a common Cost Estimating code for ships built in India with provision for evaluating changes in design parameters, Productivity of shipyard, Wage rate, Complexity of construction etc. Calculation of cost during preliminary design stage of a Ship is quite challenging and it would be desirable to find a mechanism to compare two designs at design stage. It is intended to use Data mining algorithms like regression, neural networks. and generalize code for other ships and study productivity in Indian shipyards. Also a cost Estimate for the replacement of O.R.V SAGAR KANYA- A vessel under National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean research (NCAOR), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. is to be prepared with details.
