Transitioning from a Campus life to a Corporate environment is a key milestone in

the transformation process of any individual. The challenge that a student faces

while moving from an individual to a team based mode with pressure of day to day

performance, calls for a commitment from Corporates to expose students to a

structured learning process, where they appreciate not only these nuances but also

inculcate the new skills and competencies that are required for their success in the

Corporate environment.

In a study conducted amongst the managers of campus recruits at Wipro, most of

them felt that while the quality of education was good, there were certain key skills

that could be nurtured amongst the recruits.

Project Campus has been designed to bridge this gap and its objective is two-fold:

Augment Wipro recruits with specific skills needed for him/her to become a

‘work ready IT Professional’

Equip the non CS/IT recruits with knowledge on Computer Science and

Information Technology topics that are directly relevant to the IT industry

To meet the above goals, Project Campus is composed of two programs, JumpStart-I

and JumpStart-II.

JumpStart-I, is a 10 day program, which is

applicable for all Wipro recruits. The goal of

this program is to provide recruits with a strong

foundation in Analytical, Problem-solving and

Programming skills. When applied in real time

customer scenarios, Analytical thinking and

Problem-solving skills will enable them to

understand customer requirements and

determine an optimum solution by narrowing

down from a range of possible solutions.

In addition, Programming skills will equip

them to find effective solutions using an

algorithmic approach. Thus recruits get better

oriented to customer needs and can offer

effective and efficient solutions.

The courses covered for

JumpStart-I include:

Assessment post JumpStart-I

A formative assessment will be conducted post the 10-day program. Students scoring

above 75% in this assessment will be considered for a ‘Fast Track Induction’ post

 joining Wipro.

JumpStart-II, is a 15 day program, which is applicable only for the non CS/IT

discipline of recruits. The focus here is to equip the non CS/IT recruits with knowledge

on Computer Science and Information Technology topics that are directly relevant to

the IT industry. Since the workplace demands high performance from a fresh recruit

irrespective of the discipline of study, it is imperative to ensure that non-CS/IT recruits

are on par with their CS/IT counterparts as far as knowledge acquisition is concerned.

The courses covered for JumpStart-II include:

Assessment post JumpStart-II

To bring rigor into the program and enable learning, a formative assessment will be

conducted post the 15-day program. This assessment will be of ‘objective type

pattern’. To encourage students to learn and score well, Wipro will roll out a Rewards

program for students scoring above 75% in this assessment.
