OF PAPER LANTERN

DESIGN STATEMENT

The lantern are inspired by the first case study which is ‘Paper Making in Japan: Washi’. From the

country of Japan, the concept of using an origami are used in making this lantern. The lantern are using

the folding technique called ‘chestnut’ where it consist repetition of the ‘mountain’ and ‘valley’ folds.

The lantern are using the color scheme of cherry blossom pantone which are cerise, cherry blossom

pink and sky blue. The lantern have three forms of origami structures that resembles of cherry blossom

shape.
