California OT/PT Program

Overview Progressus SLPs participated in a collaborative reading project where they coached reading instructors to modify their instructional communication during daily reading activities to incorporate proven language intervention strategies.

Approach Individualized or small group therapy was not implemented and instead SLPs worked directly with Reading Instructors, Parents and the Parent Liaison.

They focused on training team members to implement instructional accommodations and strategies that would improve performance.

Outcomes Extraordinary gains were made in reading as highlighted below;•Sixty percent (60%) of the students with 20 or more hours of instruction made gains of at least 1 instructional level on the Burns/Roe Graded Word List•Fifty-six percent (56%) of the students with 30 or more hours increased by one level on the Reading Comprehension subscale of the National Outcome Measurement System for Speech-Language Pathology (NOMS)

Data Analysis and BenchmarkingData Analysis and Benchmarking

We have the ability to analyze a district’s caseload data to identify service delivery patterns and potential areas for improvement:-Over Identification – are services being provided at a higher rate than peer districts?-Homogenous Service Delivery – are all students receiving the same level of direct service regardless of grade level and diagnosis?

Exceeding Compliance

Progressus operates under the simple philosophy that “Every Child Deserves the Best.” First and foremost, we work with our clients to ensure that their related service programs are fully-staffed and compliant. But beyond compliance, Progressus works to implement best practices in service delivery to drive student achievement. Every child’s IEP should be individualized and customized to meet that student’s needs. Too often, therapists are unable to move beyond compliance. Progressus provides therapists with the tools and training to move beyond compliance to ensure that the right students are receiving the right therapy.

The Value of Working with UsThe Value of Working with Us

Cost Advantage

Progressus Therapy’s related services programs are more effective in graduating students while eliminating unwarranted therapy. Our therapists are trained to vary service delivery models and intensity in order to maximize time spent with the neediest students and graduating students who no longer need services. As a consequence, districts are able to realize meaningful cost savings while delivering collaboration, parent satisfaction and student outcomes they so desperately desire. While the benefits of our approach are seen financially, the most importantly benefit is student success!

Satisfaction Promise

A successful related services program not only addresses the needs and concerns of students, but also of parents, teachers and advocates. Progressus arms its clinicians with the tools and knowhow to effectively manage the challenges typically experienced in the special education arena. Everything we do, from holding in-services for parents to how we train our therapists, is geared around building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with key constituents.
