    SUMMARY:.

    Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV)

The pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) protects against pneumococcalinfections. The bacterium is the leading cause of serious infections, including

pneumonia, blood infections, and bacterial meningitis.

Children under 2 years old are most susceptible to serious pneumococcalinfections. The vaccine not only prevents the infection in children who receiveit, it also helps. At birth, infants have protection against certain diseasesbecause antibodies have passed through the placenta from the mother to theunborn child. Microorganisms can be viruses, such as the measles virus, or theycan be bacteria, such as pneumococcus. Some parents may hesitate to havetheir kids vaccinated because they're worried that the children will have seriousreactions or may get the illness the vaccine is supposed to prevent. Becausethe components of vaccines are weakened or killed and in some cases, only

parts of the microorganism are used they're unlikely to cause any seriousillness. Some vaccines may cause mild reactions, such as soreness where theshot was given or fever, but serious reactions are rare to its spread.

    REACTION:

Yes I agree on this article that the baby must be fully immunized, even if they

have an antibody that serves as their protection against such disease it is onlytemporary, so the baby must have all kind of vaccination for them to becomefully immunized baby. This vaccine will kill or weakened the microorganism thatcauses the particular disease. Vaccines stimulate the immune system to reactas if there were a real infection it fends off the "infection" and remembers theorganism so that it can fight it quickly should it enter the body later. So it isvery important for a baby to have an immunization it will help the baby tobecome healthy and it will serve as protection from the future invader orforeign object as they grow. Recommended Vaccinations: Hepatitis BPneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) , DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, acellularpertussis) , Hib (meningitis) , IPV (polio) , Influenza , MMR (measles, mumps,

rubella) ,Varicella (chickenpox) , MCV4 (bacterial meningitis) , Hepatitis A forthem to be called as fully immunized baby.

    PROGRESS NOTESSUMMARY:

We started our duty with a morning prayer held near the chapel in SMC by thelead of Mr. Cabunoc. After the morning circle a short orientation followed theneach one of as provide a photocopy related to our concept and discussion allabout immunology. Mr. Galo is the one who is assigned for the photocopy to beused so we wait for him, At 9:30 after we received the photocopy weimmediately deported from the school to our designated area in the Health

center in Suaybaguio, we divided our groups, some are assigned to get thepatents VS while the other are conducting Leopolds maneuver. When 11:30 amarrived 4 members remain in the health center for vital signs taking for all thepatients that will be arrive. So others deployed their pair groups to find somepatient to be interview. When the time all of us are finished in our entire task sowe take our lunch and when back at 1:00pm to have our research, when3:10pm passed we went to our respective houses safely and soundly.

REFLECTION:On this day I feel relaxed, maybe this concept is our rest day from all ourhospital duty, even thought it is very far and very hot to find a client for me it isvery enjoy. While I am assessing my client I felt pity for her because she is ablue baby have a small whole in her heart and it is a caution to her to get tired. And we know the nature of a toddler they are very active and alert whileplaying. So all I can do is to pray for her to have more blessings to come in herlife. God bless us always.

    PROGRESS NOTES

    SUMMARY:

We started our 2nd day of duty with a morning prayer together with the groupA2. After the morning circle we immediately deported our selves to ourdesignated area in Prk. Suaybaguio health center. Upon arriving weimmediately prepare our paraphernalia to use in getting the VS of the patients. We assisted the community health care nurse in performing their prenatalprocedure. This day is a prenatal day so many parents and pregnant motherarrived for the weakly check-up. So all we do is to scale their weight, check

their VS and transcribed it. When 11:30 am arrived after we finished all ourtasks we take our lunch break and be back at 1:00pm for the lecture headed byMam Lesley. After the lecture about immunization we proceed to the library tohave a research and at 3:00pm we went to our respective houses safely andsoundly.

REFLECTION:This day is somewhat opposite for yesterdays duty, today is a prenatal day somany mother went to the health center to have their weakly check-up, so weare slightly busy unlike yesterdays activities. In this day also I got many tipsfrom Mam Lesleys sharing of experiences in her past board examination. Thisday is very inspiring days for me hoped someday I will become a registerednurse for the fulfillment of my dreams, God bless us always.
