17:00 Wrap up & Conclusion

Contemporary building practice and thereby architectural edifice is facing radical transformation in the future due to evident climate changes, increasing energy standards and the accelerating industrialization of the building industry. How and to what extend does a tectonic approach address these challenges must be a central question in contemporary architectural discussion. Highly acknowledged architects from Scandinavia and India will present examples of how tectonic thinking can be used to reach a more sustainable, qualified and holistically based architecture.

The symposium is arranged by the research group behind the research project: “Towards a Tectonic Sustainable Building Practice” which is anchored at the Royal Danish School of Architecture, Design & Conservation - School of Architecture, Aarhus School of Architecture, SBI - Danish Building Research Institute, supported by the Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF).

In the fall of 2012 a second symposium will be held focusing on tectonic theory. The outcome of the two symposiums is planned to be published in the spring of 2013.

NB: The symposium will be in English and is open to researchers, students, practitioners and others involved in the field of architecture.
