Welcome to Highland Reserve State School
On behalf of our school community, I welcome you and your family to our wonderful school.
Established in 2009, the educational philosophy of Highland Reserve State School places an emphasis
on putting students first and maximising student learning potential. We are very proud of what we
have achieved thus far and are excited about the possibilities that lay ahead in terms of academic
offerings and student development.
To achieve our vision of creating clever, skilled and creative students, an engaging and diverse range of
curriculum offerings are available to all students to meet their learning needs. These are delivered
through personalised classroom learning experiences and are supported by extra-curriculum options
within the four pillars of Sport, The Arts, Academics and the Community.
Our staff are a wonderful team of dedicated professionals who are committed to offering families a
high quality education, delivered within a disciplined, safe and supportive environment. This
environment is developed through a focus on the school’s four key values:
Be a Learner
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
At Highland Reserve State School, we believe that every member of our school community contributes
to every child’s learning journey and as such, we strive to establish positive community partnerships
with parents and community groups to enrich learning experiences for our students.
On behalf of myself and my team of over 100 committed and enthusiastic staff, I welcome you to our
school.

Principal
Why Programs of Excellence? Highland Reserve State School is committed to an educational program that encourages, challenges,
extends and supports each student’s special interests, skills and talents to become the very best student
they can be. Students with these qualities may be selected to participate in one of our Programs of
Excellence. These programs are designed to challenge and support students in their Primary School
learning and link them to a Secondary School pathway of their choice. Each Program of Excellence has been
developed by an expert teaching team for students who are ready to learn, achieve their dreams and
ambitions at a higher level.
How will a Program of Excellence benefit my child?
Increase in confidence and self-esteem
Higher levels of engagement in learning
Specialised skills and improved learning outcomes
Increased likelihood of gaining access to a Secondary pathway of choice
With an extensive range of choice available, students can be selected for any number of our programs where
they have a high level of ability, motivation and interest to learn. It is an expectation that students selected
for Program of Excellence pathways will commit to before school and lunch programs where necessary. Celebration of Achievement: Students who successfully engage in and complete a Program of Excellence will be invited to participate,
with their parents, in Celebration of Achievement assemblies and events held throughout the year.
Depending on the program, students will receive a certificate, a Program of Excellence medallion or a badge
to recognise their achievement. Programs of Excellence offered:
