www.hurstville.nsw.gov.au/lmg PICTURE BOOKSThis collection targets 0 - 6 year olds.  You’ll �nd beautifully illustrated books with simple stories which come in various formats including  board, pop-up, lift-the-�ap and big book styles.

TOYSWe provide a small big toy lending collection. These are held in the Children's Section at Hurstville City Library. The toys cannot be reserved and the loan period is three weeks.

AUDIOVISUALYou will �nd a wide variety in this collection!  Books and music on CD, kits (CD with book to read along with as you listen), DVDs including popular titles that you will �nd at your local video store.  We also have educational CD Roms.

JUNIOR FICTIONIf you’re aged 7 - 12 years this is the collection for you!  You’ll �nd classic stories  like Peter Pan and popular titles such as Max Remy Superspy  and everything in between.  Amazing stories, places and people aplenty on these shelves.  We also have a Junior Paperback Stand where you’ll �nd simple stories which are excellent  if  you are taking the BIG step from picture books to novels.

JUNIOR NON-FICTIONThis collection contains information books for primary aged children.  If you’re doing a school project on insects this is where you’ll �nd 1001 insect facts! School project  material is limited to two items per child NO OVERDUE FINES OR RESERVATION FEES CHARGED ON JUNIOR ITEMS

KIDS AND COMPUTERS @ YOUR LIBRARYBoth libraries provide Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Internet Reseach, email and printing facilities at 20c per page for black and white. There is no colour printing from the internet. Black and white and colour photocopying is available at both libraries. Access to computers is by membership card and pin number and available for 1 hour sessions. Access is free for school assignment work but charges apply for email access at $2.10 and printing costs which can be added at the Self Service Points in the Libraries.

Young children can access educational and fun games in the Childrens Area. These computers must be booked at busy times by going to the Information Desk and booking for a half hour period. There is no internet access or printing access on these Kids Computers 1-4.

HOMEWORK AND ASSIGNMENT HELP AND RESOURCES Need help with homework at all study levels? Check out the Assignment Assistant and Your Tutor options on our website. There are databases that can be accessed on the website that include ; MACQUARIENET, ANZ NEWSTAND, SCIENCE REFERENCE CENTER, BRITANNICA ONLINE.These can be acessed from home using your library membership at www.hurstville.nsw.gov.au

SPECIAL EVENTS @ YOUR LIBRARY> School Holiday Activities are run through the year > Preschool Storytime goes to the Museum one tuesday per school term (see website for dates and details) > Seniors Week Storytime held in March annually. > Simultaneous Storytime (Wednesday 11am, Library Week event in May annually) > NAIDOC Week (July annually) > Children's Book Week Activities and school visits in (August annually) > Summer Reading Program for ages 5-16 years (December- January school holidays annually, details on our website)

TEENAGE FICTION You’ll �nd novels in this collection suitable for teenagers 13-18 years of age.  Again the contents are varied covering everything  from  issues that a�ect the youth of today  such as relationships & peer pressure through to popular works such as Manga and graphic novels. 

TEENAGE NON-FICTIONContains more detailed information books.  High School students will �nd their assignment and wider reading needs are met  in this collection.

MANGA & ANIMEThere is a wide range of Manga and graphic novelscovering Japanese and American styles. There is a junior and teenage collection. 

MAGAZINESCan be found in both the junior and teenage libraries.  You will �nd everything from comics like MAD magazine to information magazines such as Street Machine and Disney Adventures  COMMUNITY LANGUAGES - Hurstville onlyIf you speak a language other than English at home or you’re learning a language at school this collection will be very helpful.  You will �nd picture books, junior �ction, non-�ction and a small audiovisual selection covering many languages including: Chinese, Arabic & Vietnamese.

PARENT TEACHERThis collection is tailored to provide specialized information for parents and teachers who are looking to explore the areas of child development  and educational philosophy.

SCHOOL CERTIFICATE AND HSCYou will �nd material in the collection speci�cally targeting  students.  These items o�er students additional study support outside the school environment .  Includes EXCEL study guides, sample questions and material detailing  speci�c units of study and can be found under HSC Help on our library  website  at  www.hurstville.nsw.gov.au and then go to HSC Help.
