1. INTRODUCTION
3PKK Program Exit Survey Report December 2013 Session (DHK)
1.1 Programme Exit Survey (PES)
PES is a method of collecting information on the quality of diploma education from the
perspective of graduating students upon the completion of their diploma programme. This
report refers to an indirect measurement method by way of self-evaluation based on
individual perception for the assessment of PLO. PLOs are the specific statements of
graduates’ knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired at the end of the programme as evidence
for the programme objectives achievements. This PES was conducted to assess the graduate
students’ satisfaction and perceptions about various aspects of their academic experiences.
100% of the final semester students from the DHK programme had participated in the survey.
The main objectives of this PES are to:
1) Determine the students perception in their attainment on the overall quality of
learning and teaching in PKK;
2) Determine the students self-assessment of knowledge, skills and soft skills
achievement after going through the PLOs of the programme;
3) Evaluate the students’ opinion towards contributions of Lecturer and Academic
Advisor system implemented based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) approach;
4) Evaluate the students’ opinion towards academic resources and facilities provided in
PKK.
1.2 Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO)
OBE is an educational philosophy that believed that educational assessment should recognise
and reflect progress made by individual students. PLOs are statements that describe what
graduates are expected to know or be able to do on graduation. In the curriculum for DHK
programme it has been specified that there are nine (9) PLOs’ to be acquired by the graduates
upon graduation. The nine PLOs are as follows:
i. Acquire knowledge to meet industrial requirements and adapting to the dynamics environment within the hotel and catering business.
ii. Apply technical skills to meet industrial requirements in tandem with the challenges and changes within the hotel and catering industry.
iii. Practices communication skills effectively rendering a quality managerial and customer service.
4PKK Program Exit Survey Report December 2013 Session (DHK)

to fill up the PES questionnaires which were posted online and 100% of them responded.
The respondents were required to evaluate and rate themselves based on 5-Likert Scale
indicated below:
1 = Weak
2 = Average
3 = Good
4 = Very Good
5 = Excellent
Student’s satisfaction and acceptance level was determined from the scale. Excellent, Very
Good and Good indication rate shows the students are satisfied with the item. While Average
and Weak indication rate shows the item need some improvements and correction for the
program.
This online survey was conducted between Marchs until May 2014. The survey
questionnaires were divided into five sections as follows:
i. Section A: General Information
ii. Section B: Overall Quality of Teaching and Learning

5PKK Program Exit Survey Report December 2013 Session (DHK)
v. Section E: Academic Resources and Facilities

PKK, students’ response on skills and knowledge related to PLO’s, students attainment on
the soft skills, students’ rating for lecturers and academic advisors contribution, student’s
opinion towards academic resources, overall services and facilities in PKK. This assessment
strategy was aligned with the Curriculum Development Cycle - “develop-implement-review”

Memperbaharui silibus pembelajaran dari semasa ke semasa untuk mempertingkatkan
lagi pengetahuan para pelajar. Sekaligus, mampu skor dengan cemerlang tidak kira
praktikal ataupun peperiksaan.
The administration of politeknik kota kinabalu should be more polite to the students,
because certain of the staff did not speak politely to the student even though the
student had speak in a good manner.
2) other than that, the politeknik kota kinabalu staffs, that drove the buses to telipok
town, should be on time by referring to the timetable from pkk to telipok.
3) next, the politeknik kota kinabalu web, should be progress in an effective way, this
is because the pkk web usually turn out to be too slow and sometimes I’m as a
student cannot register for my learning courses on time, because of cannot getting
through to the web due to the unsuccessful pkk web services.
Hope the facilities for student will be more improve while makes students' feel
comfortable in the environment to study.
Peningkataan kemudahan bagi pelajar di kampus telipok. Seperti bilik rehat utk lelaki

menunggu di cafe atau student centre.
KEMUDAHAN UNTUK PELAJAR PERLU DISEDIAKAN LAGI CONTOHNYA
KEMUDAHAN WATER COOLER DISEDIAKAN DENGAN LEBIH BANYAK
DAN BERFUNGSI. KEMUDAHAN WIFI INTERNET HARUS
DIPERTINGKATKAN SERTA KELAS YANG MEMPUNYAI KELENGKAPAN
SERTA CUKUP UNTUK PELAJAR. UNTUK DI ASRAMA KEMUDAHAN AIR
YANG CUKUP DI SETIAP BLOK, SERTA PEMASANGAN CAHAYA DISETIAP
TANGGA BLOK ASRAMA PERLU DIPERBAIKI. DAN KEKUATAN AIR DI
BLOK A ASRAMA PEREMPUAN PERLU DIPERTINGKATKAN KERANA
KERAP KETIADAAN AIR PADA WAKTU PETANG.
mohon asingkan gym utk lelaki dan perempuan. masa beroperasi gym selalu x
menentu. Perlu kedai stationary, tempat print assignment, cafe di telipok untuk
student jph. keselamatan politeknik cawangan telipok kurang.
