PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS
This course contains two units of competency. Candidates can opt to complete both units or they can be completed individually. Applicants must have basic computing skills, an understanding of control circuitry and a working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
UEENEEI150A: This course provides training in development, installation and testing of programs for programmable logic controllers (PLC) using discrete control functions.
On completion of this course learners will be able to apply knowledge of control systems and development of programming methods, use ladder and function block diagrams, statement lists, and instruction sets, follow written programming instructions, and document program development and testing activities.
UEENEEI151A: This course provides training in development, installation and testing of programs for an industrial system requiring advanced control functions.
On completion of this course learners will be able to use structured logic and acceptable design techniques, apply knowledge of high level instructions, and document development and programming activities.

COURSE REQUIREMENTSApplicants must hold a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.
To gain entry into this course, applicants must have attained the pre-requisite units of competency, which can be delivered and assessed at the College requiring additional attendance and fees.

Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times in CET buildings. Safety boots/shoes must be worn when working in the workshop. Refer to the Code of Conduct on the College website www.cet.asn.au for details on dress code.
COURSE MATERIALSApplicants are required to obtain the following resource prior to course commencement which are available from the CET:
• ‘Programmable Logic Controllers latest edition by Frank D. Petruzella
It is recommended that participants have a current edition of AS/NZS 3000.
CERTIFICATIONA Statement of Attainment will be issued for each Unit of Competency completed.

SKILLS AND NATIONAL RECOGNITION The CET Skills Recognition process benefits applicants who have undergone prior learning and recognises competencies obtained outside a formal educational or training environment, gained through life or work experience. Competencies currently held by applicants will be formally assessed against each applicable Unit of Competency and maybe recognised regardless of how, when and where they were achieved. Skills Recognition is an assessment process and a cost recovery charge will apply.
CET accepts and provides credit to learners for units of competency and/or modules (unless licensing or regulatory requirements prevent this) where these are evidenced by:
• AQF certification documentation issued by any other RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation; or
• Authenticated VET transcript issued by the Registrar
