Second Reading: 1 Timothy 2:1-8 Beloved: First of all, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone, for kings

and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all devotion and dignity. This is good and pleasing to God our savior, who wills everyone to be

saved and to come to knowledge of the truth. For there is one God. There is also one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as ransom

for all. This was the testimony at the proper time. For this I was appointed preacher and apostle — I am speaking the truth, I am not lying —, teacher of the Gentiles

in faith and truth. It is my wish, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or argument.

Secunda Lectura: 1 Timoteo 2:1-8 Te ruego, pues, lo primero de todo, que hagáis oraciones, plegarias, súplicas, acciones de gracias por todos los hom-

bres, por los reyes y por todos los que están en el mando, para que podamos llevar una vida tranquila y apacible, con toda piedad y decoro. Eso es bueno y grato ante los

ojos de nuestro Salvador, Dios, que quiere que todos los hombres se salven y lleguen al conocimiento de la verdad. Pues Dios es uno, y uno solo es el mediador entre Dios

y los hombres, el hombre Cristo Jesús, que se entregó en rescate por todos: éste es el testimonio en el tiempo apropiado: para él estoy puesto como anunciador y apóstol -

digo la verdad, no miento-, maestro de los paganos en fe y verdad. Encargo a los hombres que recen en cualquier lugar alzando las manos limpias de ira y divisiones.

sus cálculos: ¿Qué voy a hacer ahora que mi amo me quita el empleo? Para cavar no tengo fuerzas; mendigar, me da vergüenza. Ya sé lo que voy a hacer para que, cuan-

do me echen de la administración, encuentre quien me reciba en su casa. Fue llamando uno a uno a los deudores de su amo, y dijo al primero: ¿Cuánto debes a mi amo?

Este respondió: Cien barriles de aceite. El le dijo: Aquí está tu recibo:;aprisa, siéntate y escribe “cincuenta”. Luego dijo a otro: Y tú, ¿cuánto debes? El contestó: Cien

fanegas de trigo. Le dijo: Aquí está tu recibo; escribe “ochenta”. Y el amo felicitó al administrador injusto, por la astucia con que había procedido. Ciertamente, los hijos

de este mundo son más astutos con su gente que los hijos de la luz. Y yo os digo: Ganaos amigos con el dinero injusto, para que, cuando os falte, os reciban en las mora-

das eternas. El que es de fiar en lo menudo, también en lo importante es de fiar; el que no es honrado en lo menudo, tampoco en lo importante es honrado. Si no fuisteis

de fiar en el vil dinero, ¿quién os confiará lo que vale de veras? Si no fuisteis de fiar en lo ajeno, ¿lo vuestro quién os lo dará? Ningún siervo puede servir a dos amos:

porque o bien aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o bien se dedicará al primero y no hará caso del segundo. No podéis servir a Dios y al dinero.
