F inal Exams Bash During the week of fi-

nal exams, HP 2058 will be converted to a Hospitality

Center for all CNHP students. There will be snacks,

drinks and music, a place to relax, and a spot to have a last minute

review. The Learning Caring Community Committee of the

CNHP, with the support of Mr. John Lawrence, a university and

CNHP friend in collaboration with faculty and staff, provides the

Omicron Psi Chapter of

Sigma Theta Tau Evening on Campus

On April 22, USI’s Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta

Tau, Omicron Psi Chapter, honored 30 graduate nursing

students with an early evening reception. Dr. Melissa

Vandeveer, keynote speaker for the April 23 Nursing and

Health Professions Research Conference, spoke with stu-

dents on the topic of Clinical Nurse Leader.

The reception was followed by a ceremony to induct 17 nursing students into

the campus chapter of the honor society. Three RN-BSN and fourteen MSN

students were this year’s inductees. Students are selected based on their scholas-

tic achievements and professionalism.

Induction Ceremony for Sigma Theta Tau

USI’s Critical Care Challenge stu-

dent team won the 2008 Tri-State

American Association of Critical

Care Nurses’ Critical Care Challenge

held on April 10 at St. Mary’s Medi-

cal Center. The team, led by Marilyn Ostendorf,

nursing faculty, and assisted by Tracy Kinner,

also nursing faculty, claimed the trophy for four

years in a row.

USI, University of Evansville, Henderson Com-

munity College, and Ivy Tech Community Col-

lege had participating teams.

Winner and Still Champion

The Living Learning Com-

munity, a floor in Ruston

Hall devoted to students par-

ticipating in programs in the

College of Nursing and Health

Professions, supported a team that raised $500

for The USI/UE American Cancer Society Relay

for Life held in late March. The team was also

voted the best rookie team. Daeli Sneed, a pre-

radiologic and imaging science major, was the

team captain.

3rd Year Nursing Student to Mayo

For Summer

Ginger Kreyling, 3rd year nursing student, has

been accepted into a selective program for nurs-

ing students at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,

Minnesota. Audrey Raber, a 4th year nursing

student here at USI, participated in the same pro-

gram last summer at Mayo Clinic and has ac-

cepted a job there after graduation.

were honored for their leadership and service during the USI Student Leadership

Awards and Recognition Ceremony on April 16. CNHP students named to Who’s
