Golden Star understands that there is more to the value of our products than just cleaning, therefore we have dedicated ourselves to the education of our customers and the innovation of an eco-friendly product line for a greener tomorrow.

From Trash to Treasure

Polyethylene Terephthalate, or PET, is used to make high-impact resistant containers. Everyday products such as soda bottles, water bottles and many household products create PET waste. According to the Container Recycling Institute, more than 116 billion beverage containers are thrown away, littered and incinerated annually.When we are able to take ordinary PET plastic bottles and turn them into high-grade dust control products, we make a significant impact on everyday waste. Our Scepter™ looped-end mops are made with 76% post- consumer content, of which 30% is PET plastic.

Another source of recycled material for our mops comes from recycled cotton fibers. Using fibers from clothing, linens or other fabrics, we are able to produce mops with up to 93% post-consumer recycled fibers. Our dust mops may contain up to 60% post-consumer recycled fibers.

We believe that every little bit counts, our mops contain the highest percentage of recycled content of any mop manufacturer in the business. We are consistently looking for ways to refine the manufacturing process to both reduce and re-use waste whenever possible. By utilizing a vertically integrated manufacturing system we are able to provide the most eco-friendly products while maintaining excellent performance and durability. In today’s global economy one of the most important issues is to insure we are maximizing shelve pack-out with all products we are providing. Golden Star Max-Pack™ mops allow you to maximize your shelve pack-out by up to 43% over standard boxed mops. On average a standard pallet of boxed mops will contain 502 mops. On average Max-Pack mops contain 720 mops per pallet for the same cubic foot print.

Max-Pack mops are eco-friendly: Wet mops contain up to 93% post-consumer content and dust mops contain up to 63% post-consumer content (PCC), utilizing over 3,088,800 million pounds of recycled plastics (PET) and PCC fibers per year.

Max-Pack mops allow 43% more products per truck load reducing the number of shipments needed, saving 264,000 gallons of fuel and eliminating 2,102 tons of green house gas emissions per year. As to distribution of our Max-Pack pallets and other products we work closely with our carriers to achieve full truckloads and utilize intermodal rail transportation whenever possible.

Waste management is also a very important part of protecting the environment. Max-Pack mops are packaged with recycled poly-wrap packaging materials, reducing land fill waste by 97% over corrugated packaging.

Non-Preferred CarrierPrepaid shipments requesting a non-preferred Golden Star carrier will be converted to collect charges. Golden Star will extend a freight allowance of the Golden Star preferred carrier charge for the same shipment. Golden Star will not be liable for any additional charges that may be accrued by using a Golden Star non-preferred carrier.

Add-On OrdersAn add-on order must be received within 24 hours of the original order to guarantee shipment together. If an add-on must be shipped separately, the customer will be responsible for any additional freight charges.

Private Label PolicyGolden Star offers the finest private label mop program in the industry. Minimum order required for private labeling is 120 mops. Orders may include mixed products.

YARN OPTIONSBlended: • Golden Star’s blended cotton, rayon, polyester and acrylic yarns offer the optimum performance. Cotton provides high water absorption and retention. Rayon affords maximum water pickup. Polyester supplies excellent strength and abrasion resistance. Acrylic provides the color and aids in water release.

Cotton: • Mops made with cotton yarn are popular because of their low initial cost, limited shrinkage and great absorption. They require a break-in period to remove natural oils and are susceptible to mildew and rot if not properly maintained.

Golden Star mops are manufactured to the highest quality standards in the industry. They are specifically designed and manufactured to withstand the demands of tough industrial and commercial maintenance applications. A broad range of mops is available to suit every purpose and budget.

INITIAL COST VERSUS VALUESince labor costs represent over 90% of the cost of cleaning, it only makes sense to invest in cleaning materials that reduce labor. Spending a bit more on quality materials and supplies will often save many times the amount in labor over the product’s lifetime.

HOW TO SELECT THE BEST WET MOPThe selection of a wet mop requires taking into consideration several factors: style of mop, yarn type, size, headband style, color and launderability, among others. The following information will help you determine which mop best fits your needs.

LOOPED-END VS. CUT-ENDLooped-ends (or Fantail Style) provide better performance and cost savings. •

They cover more space in one pass, reducing labor costs. They last longer, don’t fray or lint, and provide smooth application of chemicals. These mops are ideal when a facility wants to launder their wet mops. Golden Star’s Barricade® anti-microbial wet mop is the best wet mop available in the industry.

Cut-ends (or Standard Style) are popular because of their low initial cost, but are not as cost-effective •in the long run. They may lint, unravel and leave floors with uneven coverage. They are effective for general mopping.

HEADBANDSGolden Star wet mops are available with 1 • 1/4” (3.2cm), 5” (12.7cm) and Sta-FlatTM style headbands. Screw-N-Go mops have a special screw-type head for easy changing. Barricade, ScepterTM and SynergyTM mops come standard with 9” (23cm) headbands.

Nylon:• Nylon yarn is made of continuous monofilament that is non-linting and releases liquids evenly, leaving a uniform, glossy finish. It won’t mold or mildew and is the preferred yarn for finish mops.

Rayon: • Rayon fibers have fast absorption but low retention and are commonly used for finish mops or for applying dis-infectant. They are mildew resistant, do not lint and dry fast.

• Color options: Many Golden Star mops come in a variety of colors that are both aesthetically pleasing and useful for assigning and easily identifying job selection or usage area.

HOW TO SELECT THE BEST DUST MOP

A good dust control program, when used in conjunction with wet mopping, can reduce labor costs, prolong the finish on floors, reduce dust-related health problems and enhance the appearance of floors. Golden Star provides a broad selection of dust mops and specialty accessories designed to meet every need.

LOOPED-END VS CUT-ENDLooped-end construction helps eliminate snagging, fraying and linting. The mops will last longer and withstand launder-•ing.

Cut-end mops are more economical in their initial cost, but they are not designed to withstand rigorous use or repeated •laundering.

YARN OPTIONSGolden Star’s• Infinity Twist® yarn provides the ultimate in durability and performance. Dust mops made with this specially-formulated yarn can withstand repeated laundering and won’t fray or unravel. Infinity Twist yarn is the best dust mop yarn in the industry.Synergy• TM yarn picks up dust by static attraction, eliminating the need for dust mop treatment. Mops can easily be rinsed out and air dry quickly.Disposable dust mops are made with absorbent open-twist blended yarn. They are not launderable, but can be re-treated •for extended use.

RETREATING INSTRUCTIONSMops that require treatment will last longer and be more effective if the following procedures are followed:

Clean away soil by brushing or vacuuming mop head.•Apply oil-or water-based treatments, following instructions on the container.•Roll up mop with the yarn facing inside and place in poly-bag to allow overnight wicking.•
