What is it ??
• Procrastination, according to Webster’s, is
– To put off doing something unpleasant or burdensome until a future time, especially to postpone (such actions) habitually
• According to you, Procrastination, is ???
– Write down THREE things that you have been putting off……
Life is a steady drizzle of tasks..
• Face it, the “to-do” list NEVER gets shorter, and you’ll never get “caught up”, so embrace that thought, we cannot possibly do it all…………
So before you get swept away..
• Determine of all the things confronting you, what should be done and separate them from the things that could be done, and be selective…..
Remember, it’s OK to say NO!
• Filter what you commit to do, choose those things that will make THE difference in your life and those you care about
• It’s your life, and your choices
• Don’t get manipulated by guilt
• Stay within your comfort zone
• Focus on what makes you happy– By being productive– By making inroads on a large project– By making steady progress everyday– By winning small victories– By winning the war
What does it mean to be “fulfilled”?• Determine what is important in your life and select three main areas to focus
– To be truly successful, you need to focus and apply yourself everyday to these areas– This requires that you set and maintain clear, written, measurable goals– Get a partner that is vested in your success and be accountable to that partner– Set realistic time based metrics, and strive to meet them by overcoming whatever is holding you
back…..

Get at the root of your procrastination• Contrary to popular belief, it is not simply poor time management…..
• In many instances there are deep seated internal forces at work, dark forces
Six Styles of Procrastination
• Perfectionist – it only needs to be DONE!• Dreamer – fanciful and vague, not specific.• Worrier – afraid of change/failure/success.• Defier – rebellious and oppositional.• Crisis maker – needs the stimulation to do.• Overdoer – trouble saying no/prioritizing.
Can have one or more styles active at once!!
How to overcome procrastination?
• Need to become aware of WHEN you are doing it (keep a time log)
• Need to understand WHY you are doing it (read and analyze)
• Adopt those strategies that best help you overcome it
• Adapt those strategies to the situation and style being employed
Visualize your life without it!!
• What a breakthrough that would be, if only…….
We focus on those things that matter most …….
• And it will be smooth sailing……….
