The Position
U.S. Biologics Technical Development (USBTD) develops, deliversand supports robust, cost-
effective production methods and technologies to meetthe needs of Genentechs Research,
Development, Commercial and ProductOperations groups. The group has long been
recognized as a world leader indeveloping large-scale manufacturing processes,
sophisticated analytical methodsand effective drug delivery systems.
We are currently recruiting for Process Development summerinterns in USBTD for our South
San Francisco, CA headquarters. The three-month internship will begin inMay/June 2015.
As a Process Development intern, you will be assigned aproject in one of the following areas
within USBTD:
Cell Culture and Fermentation Development
Purification Development
Protein Analytical Chemistry
Analytical Operations
Pharmaceutical Development

This program provides a broad perspective and appreciationof the development of new
processes, methods and technologies at differentproduction scales in the biotechnology
industry. Candidates applying for theUSBTD Co-op and Intern Program should bepassionate about science/engineeringand thoroughly enjoy the challenges associated with
complex problem-solving. Candidatesmust be highly self-motivated and willing to work
independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams thatwork hard in an atmosphere of
casual intensity developing medicines for unmetmedical needs.
Who You Are
Other qualifications include:
Enrolled in sophomore year or higher at a college/universityor any year at a graduateschool
Preferred disciplines: chemical and biochemical engineering,biomedical engineering,
bioengineering, pharmaceutical engineering, analyticalchemistry, biochemistry,
molecular biology, microbiology, biology, or relateddisciplines
Demonstrated high level of scholastic achievement
Relevant work experience in research labs or thebiotechnology industry is highly
desirable
