Positive atmosphere at KPS
In the past 2 weeks I have conducted a number of school tours with
prospective parents and various Department of Education and Training
officials. It has been pleasing to receive such positive feedback from
these visitors about our great school. Positive comments about our
school have included “there is a really good feel at this school”,
“everyone is so friendly here”, “the students look so happy and engaged
in their learning”, “wow what beautiful school grounds you have”. We
already know all of this but what a nice reminder for us all.
Depression Proofing Your Kids – Andrew Fuller
As mentioned in a previous newsletter, please take the time to read
Andrew’s articles. His article titled Depression Proofing Your Kids
contains many handy hints of how we can minimise the chances of a
member of our family becoming depressed. Please also take a moment
to find out at Andrew’s website – www.andrewfuller.com.au
ESO Week Next week is ESO week when all Education Support Officers are recognised for the great work they do in schools all across the state. We at KPS value and respect the huge contribution that the ESOs at Korumburra Primary make to the students they work with and across the whole school. So many things could not happen the way they do without the dedication and commitment of these staff members. Thank you.
Emergency Drills Yesterday our school did a practice Lock Down drill. This involved our students, staff and visitors being secured (locking all entries and exits of all buildings) in the event of an emergency. Our students and staff did an excellent job following the Lock Down procedures. Well done everyone. In Term 4 we will again practice a lock down drill. This time students and staff will be required to move to a secure place from the playground. Sickness, Colds and Absences We have had a large number of students and staff suffering from the recent out-break of colds and flus. If you feel your child is not well enough to spend an active day at school please make the decision to keep them warm and quiet at home. Whilst we advocate that students do not stay home if well and miss valuable time at school, they cannot function and sustain the energy for a full day if they are unwell.

Yarram Eisteddfod 2015 On Thursday the 6th of April the KPS Choir headed off in the wee hours of the morning to Yarram to perform their hearts out at the 2015
Yarram Eisteddfod.
They performed two songs of contrasting styles and were awarded an Honorable Mention by the adjudicators. The Choir was congratulated
on their excitement for performing and ability to remember words and perform with clear diction.
We had an absolute ball, and for many members of the choir it was their first experience of an Eisteddfod style performance. The students
should be congratulated on their beautiful audience manners, and ability to control their nerves and perform with enthusiasm in front of other
school students, parents, teachers and strangers alike.
I look forward to our next adventure together and am very proud of each and every student who achieved a solo performance, group or
individual success.
