Principal’s Message Term 4 Week 8

High School Orientation Wishing all of our Year 6 students a wonderful day on their High School Orientation Day on Tuesday, 6th December, 2016. Every public high school has their orientation on this day. Swimming Carnival Our Swimming Carnival is on tomorrow for years 2 - 6. Please make sure that your child has all of the things that they need for the day as outlined in the permission note. Gold Reward Day – this Thursday Gold reward day is this Thursday. Please see the note sent home on Tuesday which will let your child know what they need to bring to participate in the fun activities planned. This is a reward for those students who have worked so incredibly well all year in their learning, attitude and behaviour. Bike Education Excursion Earlier in the term 1 Hurdles and 1 Javelin were unable to attend their excursion due to unforeseen weather. The students and their teachers will be attending this excursion on Friday. This is timely as we are soon heading into the holidays and we are reminded about the importance of keeping safe riding bikes. Parent Helper Morning Tea We wish to extend a warm welcome to anyone who has worked in any capacity, in our school this year, to enjoy a morning tea celebration with us. We sincerely appreciate your service to our students and school. Presentation Day and Recognition Day K-2 Presentation Day and Recognition Day is next Tuesday, 6th December in our school hall. Kinder will be at 11-40am and Years 1 & 2 will be at 9-30am. Years 3-6 Presentation Day and Recognition Day is next Wednesday, 7th December at 9-30am at Macquarie Fields High School. We hope that you can come along and help us celebrate the learning at MFPS. Party Day Years K-4 will have their party day on Thursday, 8th December. Teachers have organised fun activities for all students. Please refer to your child’s class note for further details. Stage 3 party day will be held on Friday, 16th December, followed by a farewell to Year 6. Christmas Carols and the giving tree This year at our Christmas Carols, we will be having a Christmas Giving Tree. This will be a collection point which will be forwarded to ‘Breaking the Cycle’ to help others in need. Please feel free to contribute a gift that could be used to assist a struggling family to have a happy Christmas. Greg Tyler Retirement We wish to acknowledge the fabulous contribution that Greg Tyler has made to public education throughout his teaching career, especially at Macquarie Fields PS. We wish Greg every happiness in his retirement and thank him for all that he has done to help students, families and colleagues over his years of teaching. Year 6 Uniform Donation If you have a youngest child transitioning into high school next year, we would welcome any second hand uniforms that are still in good repair. These can be given to some of our families who would appreciate a donation of a uniform for their child to help them out.

Year 5 Working Bee

Some of our Year 5 leaders worked with Mrs Smith and Ms Kessey today to beautify the garden outside the Infants toilets. These students are applauded for their community service to our school and the plants were funded as part of a community grant.

Year 6 Farewell

One event that all of Year 6 and the teachers are looking forward to is the Year 6 Farewell. It is on Monday, 12th December at Gledswood Homestead. The night will run from 6pm till 10pm.

PSSA Presentation night

We all want to congratulate the students from MFPS who received recognition for the sports skills and

achievements at the 2016 PSSA Presentation Night. Thank you to Mr Bennie for all of your coordinating

with PSSA sport and Mr Symington who is the Vice-President of the PSSA. Thank you to the families,

staff and students who attended on the night and helped our MFPS athletes to celebrate their sporting

success.
