It is the goal of Ridge Street School to develop our students academically, emotionally, physically, and socially in order to be life-long learners who will think critically and creatively and make intelligent choices in everyday life situ-ations. Through current knowledge of docu-mented learning programs and collab-orative decision-making involving ad-ministrators, staff, students, and par-ents, we will nurture the school's cul-ture and climate by providing our stu-dents with values, beliefs, and aca-demic pursuits needed to be produc-tive adults and contributing members of society. We are dedicated to this endeavor by providing an academic environment where opportunities are available to all (students, staff, parents) in order to be learners and leaders where high expectations drive our mission to in-crease student achievement. We welcome your input and hope you will visit us soon. Sincerely,

About Us Located in the beautiful Forest Hill section of Newark and nearby Branch Brook Park, Ridge Street School opens its doors to students in kindergarten to first grade at our Early Childhood Center, and grades second through eighth in our main building. With an enrollment of more than 700 students, the entire school community of administrators, teachers, support staff, and non-instructional personnel is committed to providing a safe and caring learning environment for all children. Our highly qualified teaching staff, many of whom are recipients of grants and awards, is dedicated to enrich-ing the lives of students through research-based instruc-tion that challenges and stimulates young minds to attain their academic potential. Ridge Street School also offers a wide variety of extracur-ricular activities such as book clubs, sports clubs, art & music clubs, and afterschool enrichment programs that continue throughout the school year. Our Ridge Street School parents are supportive and active-ly involved, thus playing a huge role in our success. By providing PTO conferences, activities, and workshops, parenting skills are developed by promoting the parent/teacher relationships. We are truly partners in the social development and academic growth of our children!

All students are mandated to wear school uniforms. It

provides our students with a sense of pride and creates

a positive learning environment without additional dis-

tractions. We ask all parents to maintain our dress code

throughout the school year.

The Parent Teacher Organi-

zation welcomes you to the 2017-2018 school year. Every parent is a member of

the PTO and is invited to participate in our meetings, committees, sponsored

activities, and fundraisers. Attending PTO meetings is a great way to learn more

about different opportunities you can get involved in, share your ideas, and use

your creativity by volunteering and meeting parents within the school community.

Our meetings are held the last Tuesday of every other month at 9:00 AM. Meet-
