2nd Grade Summer Assignments
2021 – 2022
Dear 2nd Grade Families,
The Second Grade Teachers are SO excited to meet you! We hope that you enjoy your
break. Enclosed in this packet you will find many different engaging and fun activities to
help your child continue to grow. Over the summer vacation, we strongly encourage you
to set aside some time for your child to work on these skills to ensure continued
progress in second grade. We strongly suggest having a journal or notebook where your
child can complete each assignment. Students can then hand in their journals when we
return to school.
Activities:
Summer Bingo: Each day choose a bingo assignment on the board. Once you complete
the assignment you can cross it out!
Summer Reading: Read the story, Juneteenth Jamboree by Carole Boston Weatherford.
After reading the story, students must complete Activity 1, Activity 2 and Activity 3.
Sight Word Review: It is important that your child practices reading sight words
each and every day to be able to read fluently. You may create flash cards to help assist with daily review.
All of these activities must be submitted to their teacher on the first day of
school – September 7, 2021. These activities will be used as their first grade in
Quarter 1.
Have a Great Summer and Happy Learning!
