Dear Parents
We are all very excited to welcome our new
Kindy students and their families, who will begin
their Kindy Orientation program this Monday
between 9-11.00am. The only change to the
school routine is the present kindy class will be
lining up with the Year 1s and enjoying the
morning with Pak Roy and Bu Mel.
Thank you to all the parents that took the time
to complete the online survey to provide
valuable feedback.
Congratulations to the Year 4/5/6 class and
their ‘Fish Film’, supported by Emily King, the
film has been selected out of the 150 entries to
receive film training and support in Term 1,
2016. The organisers were very impressed with
our entry and are keen to support the students
in improving their film and editing skills in the
future. Well done to the students, Mr Johnson
and Emily King for this outstanding
achievement.
Mrs E and the Scotts Head Community Group
have been successful in receiving a grant for
$4,950 to engage the older, highly skilled
members of our community in swapping skills
with our students. A social currency exchange
which sounds absolutely amazing.
Thanks to the parents who are giving up their
time this Saturday to be part of the Big Garage
Sale at the school. The P&C are fundraising for
much needed resources for our outstanding
programs. Please come along and support.
This weekend Peter Johnson, Annie Baxter, Roy
Mitchell, Ricky Buchanan, Mel Daly and myself
will begin Bronze medallion training through
our local surf club. Our beautiful beaches are a
wonderful resource that we are currently
unable to use due to Work Health and Safety
concerns. It is also very important that the
school continues to forge strong links within
the local community.
How lucky are our students to have every level
of the community in supporting them in
achieving all the learning outcomes that we
can possible arrange. Thanks a million
everyone.
Thanks for your continued support.

This week in Robotics
Bu Emma McAuley and Peter Johnson
All students were busy this week planning and
building the models used in the robotic game
board. Students stayed back Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening to get the
job done (3-5pm). What a great start to the challenge. During Friday robotics,
students' learnt about the game rules and Mr Johnston took the presenters to
work on there recycle or reuse challenge. Parents, if you know anyone in
the rubbish industry, can you email Bu Emma ([email protected])
or call ASAP. This is going to be a busy time as we have only 6 weeks to go until
we compete in Sydney.
Joes input- AGILE ASSASINS MAKE THEIR FIRST MOVE!
Its been great working together and completing the challenges. Today we were
working on the core values and we had to sort out the Lego and now we will use it to build our hopefully fantastic robot.
My favourite part is that we are all putting in the same amount of effort
and really want to make it to the end. We all know that its not all about
winning its about having fun.
We all really want to make it
to Sydney to compete in the
tournament. I really hope
that our team agile
assassins will make it to the
end. By Joe Young.
The 2/3 students
have been learning
about Australian
animals this term.
They have studied
the structure of
l imer ic ks and
written their own
about some silly
Australian animals. We hope you
enjoy them!

session for parents/carers will be happening on Wednesday the 11th of

NRL Program—Tuesdays
Reminder to students to wear joggers to
school on Tuesdays for the NRL
Program.
Bushfire Emergency Planning
Each year during the warmer months,
NSW is subject to risk of bush fire
across large parts of the state. Bush
fires have the potential to cause loss of life and have severe impacts on
communities. Effective emergency planning is important to assist our school
and workplace prepare and respond in the event of a bush fire situation.
With the help of the NSW Rural Fire Service the school has completed a Bush
Fire Evacuation Plan which we practiced very successfully during the week. In
the case of a fire threat the teachers and students will evacuate to the towns
Neighbourhood Safer Place which is Scotts Club, the local Bowling Club.
Communication alerts will be sent to parents through emails, schoolbag,
facebook page and school website. For the safety of all concerned, parents will
meet us at the Club and collect their children from this designated location.
The bush fire season generally runs from 1 October until 31 March each year.

Scotts Head Intergen Club
Scotts Head Intergen Club: bringing together the young, elderly and
all those in between to LEARN together, build networks and lifelong
connections.
This project is based on “Just in time learning” to enable all
participants individual choices in what they learn. Students would
partner one on one with an older person to learn something
following their particular interest. For example sewing, painting,
woodwork, crafts, gardening, cooking. In a reciprocal arrangement
the older person would learn from the student such things as “how
to use my mobile phone/tablet/computer”, “how to use social
networking/you tube, google”, “digital photography”. These activities
will be conducted once a week between the hours of 3.30pm and
5.00pm. Scotts Head Community Group are privileged to be able to
use our local primary school for these activities.
Anyone who would like to help out with this project please phone
Angie Evans on 0413115121 or 65698076.
