These lessons aim to assist children in developing skills in: Recognising and responding to unsafe situations. Strengthening attitudes and values related to equality, respect and responsibility. Recognising appropriate and inappropriate behaviours. Child Protection education incorporates teaching and learning in 3 broad themes: Recognising abuse. Power in relationships. Protective strategies. Lessons can deal with sensitive issues. All children must feel safe, comfortable and confident when dealing with Child Protection issues. If you have any questions or concerns about your child participating in Child Protection activities please contact your class teacher or the school, as soon as possible. Stay safe and remember to look after your health, including your wellbeing, over the coming weeks. Fishing For Friends and Golfing with the Stars Last week, two school well being programs recommenced after a one term recess. On Tuesday afternoon, two students travelled to the Deniliquin Golf Club practice fairway and enjoyed hitting a bucket of golf balls using either a 7 iron or driver. Some good shots were hit and both students can look forward to using their golfing skills on the club fairways next week.

On Thursday afternoon, a small group of students ventured to the Werrapankata Dam to catch that elusive fish. Everyone had fun talking about their personal fishing stories, while casting lines in the beautiful winter sunshine.

There was excitement when Marg Rankin caught a fish, but unfortunately it was a European Carp. It was not returned to the dam, and a quick on the spot lesson took place, about why carp is a pest in our waterways. Group numbers are small at present, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Safe COVID-19 practices are implemented during our well being excursions.

Thanks to Purtills for providing a 12 seater bus to transport students for fishing and Marg Rankin and Chelsea Jefferies for their assistance on the day.

Both programs will continue this week, with other students. Philip Hodgkinson School Chaplain
