Dear Parents We are into the final term of the year and we are just so grateful for your partnership and support in the last three terms, especially our parents in the Parent Support Group, and our parents who volunteered to support the various school events and activities from the weekly Swimsafer programme, to the commemorative programmes, to the learning journeys for our pupils. Thank you PSG members for planning and organising the various programmes and events with our teachers! Thank you, parents also for your affirmation for our teachers through your conversations with us or through emails. Your affirmation has inspired us in many ways! With the current haze situation, I would like to seek parents’ attention to ensure that your children take their medications (such as inhaler for asthma) and have their medications with them. Please seek medical attention for your children if they are unwell. As we are into the final quarter of the year, it is necessary for me to share with you some important developments that will take place in 2020. Firstly, as mentioned to you in our last bulletin, The Farrerean Times, distributed at the end of Term 2, the school will adhere to MOE guidelines to end school hours at 1.30pm. For weekdays which end later, lunch breaks will have to be factored into the timetable. Hence, for FPPS, from 2020 onwards, lessons will end at 1.30pm on all days except for Tuesdays, which will end with CCA at 3.45pm. Be rest assured that staggered lunch breaks will be factored into the timetable for P3 to P6 pupils. For CCAs which are conducted outdoors, the school will ensure that rest breaks and water breaks etc, in accordance with MOE guidelines, are given to pupils on a regular basis. We seek your understanding that the changes are in line with MOE requirements and no curriculum time will be lost. Secondly, the school has reviewed its annual Prize Giving Day; and to support the national movement to recognise different strengths and talents of pupils, and to move away from excessive emphasis on academic performance, the school will be introducing new awards to recognize learning dispositions etc, as well as, streamline the academic awards.
