Ethan Hunt is an exceptionally

competent super agent. He

knows all forms of fighting and

is an expert with all relevant

weaponry, though his specialty

is unarmed and lightly armed

combat. He is in perfect physical

condition and is a master of

disguise and impersonation.

He can penetrate nearly any

facility through electronic or

deceptive means, as the

situation requires.

Through experience and

self-motivation, Ethan has risen through the ranks of IMF

to serve as a field team leader. Clearly he thrives in

dangerous situations, has a genuine desire to serve justice,

and flourishes in the unstructured environment of IMF. A

handpicked team reports to Ethan, who reports to

Swanbeck, who in turn reports to the Secretary.

Luther StickellStatus: Computer expert

Location: Classified

DOB: Unknown

Luther is an extraordinarily skilled

hacker and all-around computer

expert assigned to provide

technical backup and coordinate

field team communications. He

often uses his skills to hack a

facility’s security system and clear

the way for infiltration. He is an

experienced agent whose combi-

nation of formidable physical

presence and technical expertise

make him one of the IMF’s most

valued agents.

Sofia IvanescuStatus: Dangerous

Location: Somewhere in Yugaria

DOB: 05.22.78

Sofia is the daughter of Yugaria’s

most famous scientist, Dr. Nicholas

Ivanescu and has followed in her

distinguished father’s footsteps by

becoming one of the world’s

foremost software engineers. In the

last days of the previous regime, Dr.

Ivanescu disappeared mysteriously

after making comments critical of

the government. Sofia could find no

trace of him, and Algo persuaded

her that the previous regime had Dr.

Ivanescu imprisoned and executed.

Enraged, Sofia gladly joined Algo in his efforts to overthrow

the government, developing the ICE WORM virus to break

into protected government systems and plant false evidence

of widespread corruption. Although she was bothered by

the unethical nature of her activities, she allowed Algo to

convince her that such means were necessary to eliminate

the politicians who had her father executed.

Recently Sofia has begun to suspect that Algo is less than

altruistic and is becoming uncomfortable with her role.

Although she continues to help Algo by using the ICE

WORM to gather valuable information he claims will be

used to improve the lot of the Yugarian people, she is

becoming more and more suspicious every day. Although

she enjoys the wealth and influence her allegiance to Algo

has given her, she has begun to have second thoughts.

Vasyl BerkutStatus: Critical

Location: Unknown

DOB: Unknown

Berkut was a high-ranking

officer in the Yugarian Military

Service and quickly aligned himself

with Algo as he saw the change in

power advance. Berkut serves Algo

with fanatical zeal, enjoying his

new access to power, responsibility,

and wealth.

Jasmine CurryStatus: Rookie agent

Location: Classified

DOB: 04.03.80

This highly trained agent is a

recent recruit to the IM Force

and has proven to be both

capable and multitalented. A

rookie, she operates only with

another agent during Operation

Surma. Jasmine is friendly, open,

and unusually idealistic for an

IMF agent, motivated primarily

by a strong sense of justice.

DOB: 08.13.58

Algo is an extremely well

trained and experienced agent,

a veteran of the ceaseless intelligence

battles of the Cold War who has flour-

ished within the collapsed democracy

of Yugaria. He acquired tremendous

wealth by seizing major communica-

tions and manufacturing companies

during the privatization phase that

followed the fall of the communist

government that ruled Yugaria in the Soviet era.

Subsequently, he has used his wealth and intimate

knowledge of intelligence operations to discredit the corrupt

democratic government that succeeded the communists and

has assumed almost complete control over the government.

Algo is gathering sophisticated technology stolen from the

West to further secure his grip on Yugaria and expand his

influence over the entire Balkan region.

IP 45 Pistol

This is the IMF team’s handgun ofchoice for lethal combat situations.It’s noisy and draws attention from the enemy, but it has greatknockdown power.

NotesThe pistol is your primary means ofdealing with enemies when stealth isno longer an option. Firing a .45 cal-iber round, this pistol causes damagethat varies depending on where youhit a target. A single shot to the headtakes down an enemy, but it takes twoor more shots to the body or limbs toachieve the same result. It is usuallyworth the extra time it takes to line upa head shot.

Sniper Pistol

This high-caliber pistol with its built-inscope allows Ethan to shoot distantenemies with a zoom feature that permits highly accurate shots.

NotesYou only use this weapon in a few lev-els, but in those cases, you do a lot ofshooting. As with the standard pistol,the sniper pistol kills with a singleshot to the head. It takes two or moreshots to other locations to eliminate

WeaponsTranq Gun

This dart gun fires needle tippedrounds full of fast acting serum thatquickly incapacitate an opponentwithout causing permanent harm.

Tranquilizer Darts: Needle-tipped rounds full of fast-actingserum quickly incapacitate anopponent without causing permanent harm.

NotesWhen using the tranq gun, be awarethat it takes about a second for thedart to knock out the target. In thattime, he may fire at you or alert others.As a rule, duck behind cover after firing the tranq gun.

The IMF Arsenal

EWG

This sophisticated gun is capable offiring a variety of different ammunitionmaking it an excellent non-lethal toolfor infiltration into hostile or neutralfacilities. Compressed air drives therounds making every shot silent andhighly accurate. Ethan has a selectionof three types of rounds.

Camera Disabler Darts:electronic darts allow Luther toconnect to the camera and feedfalse information, endlesslyplaying back an innocuous signal thereby incapacitatingthem and allowing Ethan toeasily sneak by.

Tracking Darts: tiny emitterscan be attached to unsuspectingtargets and allow Ethan to permanently track an opponent’sposition on the minimap.Remember to duck behindcover after firing a distractiondart because targets usuallylook in your direction when theyfeel the little sting of the dart.

Distraction Darts—thesesmall darts are effective formaking noises, breaking fragileitems, or activating buttons ata distance. Used in the rightsituation, an unsuspectingguard can be distracted fromhis patrol to investigate anoise made by this round.

NotesThe EWG is one of your best friendsduring a mission. While there arethree different types of darts, you onlyselect the EWG from the inventory.The three darts are chosen dependingon the target you aim at. The reticulefor the EWG highlights an icon thatshows you which type of dart will be used.

For example, if you are aiming at acamera, the camera disabler dart isreadied. Aiming at a person selects atracking dart; any other target willselect a distraction dart. You have alimited supply of darts for each mis-sion, so use them wisely. However,you usually have enough for disablingcameras which are difficult to sneakpast and for tracking guards you cannot always see but do not want totake out.

The distraction dart is effective atgetting enemies to move away fromtheir post so you can sneak past themor into positions where you can attackthem. Use one to lure a guard arounda corner, for example, so you can thenuse the tranq gun on him.

concealed. The binocular feature has three levels of zoom for closeinspection. A built-in digital cameratakes photographs at the selectedzoom level and automatically transmitsthem to Luther for evaluation. Thedirectional microphone can be usedto overhear distant conversations,telephone conversations, orexchanges that take place behindclosed windows. Skillful use of theBinocs’ various features can provideimportant clues to accomplish mission goals.

NotesOne very important feature is scanning. Activate this to highlightsuch objects as control panels, andthe Binocs tells you what type ofdevices they are. When you’re stuckor not sure what to do next, take outthe Binocs and study both guards anddevices in the area for clues as towhat you might have to do to complete your assignments.

Electronic LockPick (ELP)

This gadget lets Ethan silently openelectronically locked doors.

NotesYou don’t have to select this item fromthe inventory to use it. Press Usewhile standing next to an appropriateobject and Ethan automatically usesthis gadget as needed.

Micro Cord

This tool gives Ethan access to areashe could not get to on his own, raisingor lowering himself to otherwise inaccessible areas. In some cases,the intent might be to avoid a guard orget into position for a stealth attackfrom above. In other cases, Ethan maybe called upon to perform specificstunts such as hanging while hackinga computer or swinging back andforth to reach an object.

NotesThe Micro Cord can attach to hookshanging from above as well as pipesand some cables. Attached to hooks,it allows Ethan to raise and lower himself. Attached to pipes and cables,it pulls Ethan up so he can shimmyalong them or pull up his feet andcrawl along. If Ethan positions himselfover an enemy while hanging from apipe or cable, pressing Attack causesEthan to let go and take out the guardbelow with a falling strike. Be sure theattack icon appears in the upper rightcorner of the screen, indicating thatEthan is in the correct position.

Binocs

This multifunctional device is animportant tool that lets Ethan scouttargets from a distance while remaining

For example, if there is an enemy in theother room, the sonic imager allowsyou to see when he is walking awayfrom the door, giving you an opportu-nity to sneak in unseen.

WASP

This unique miniature robot combinesa surveillance camera with a one-shotstun gun packed into a remotely controlled flying device that is virtuallyundetectable. Ethan can launch theseand remotely control them, scoutingareas and quietly taking out key targets.Ethan’s supply of WASPs is limitedand their shot capability is limited toone each, so use this device wisely.

NotesFor most missions in which you’regiven the WASP, you need a certainnumber to complete your objectives.Even so, you usually have one or twoextra. WASPs are a great way to takeout enemies who are difficult if notimpossible to get to by other means.Ethan stays hidden from view at alltimes. The disadvantage is that, oncelaunched, the WASP cannot be recovered. If you are using it to scout,you might as well stun an enemy,because the WASP self-destructswhen you stop controlling it.

an enemy. Watch your ammo whenusing this weapon. The clip only holdsfive rounds, so reload whenever thereis a pause in the action.

Use the 2x zoom while scanning fortargets, then increase to 4x or 8x forshooting. Try for the head shots if thetarget is stationary. If the target ismoving, shoot for the center ofmass—the body. It takes a couple ofshots, but you are more likely to hitthe body than the head in motion.

FAAR

The FAAR, with its high rate of fire,provides Ethan with excellent firepower.

NotesThis weapon puts out several roundswith a single press of Fire. For accuracy, fire short bursts rather than long bursts.

Gadgets

Sonic Imager

Used against doors, the sonic imagerfocuses high-energy waves to createreal-time images. The sonic imagerallows you to see what is on the otherside of a door.

Ethan can pick up health packs hanging on walls throughout missionsto bring his health to full. Any unneededhealth goes into his inventory up to amaximum of 200%.

NotesWhenever Ethan takes damage, taphis inventory to replenish his health.There is nothing worse than dyingwith unused health packs still in theinventory. To quickly use a healthpack, press down on the D-pad.

AmmoDuring a mission, Ethan finds boxes ofammo for his pistol. Grab ammowhenever it’s available so you don’trun out in a firefight.

Jet Pack

In one of the latter levels, Ethan willbe issued a jet pack. This allows himto fly through the air for a limitedamount of time. At a certain time,Luther will tell you to activate the jet pack. Then just use the left thumbstick to guide Ethan up, down,and to the right and left. Ethan willautomatically shut off the jet pack atthe correct time.

MasksIn some missions, Ethan receivesmasks allowing him to temporarilyassume their identities. Ethan alsomust sometimes photograph specificindividuals and have masks madefrom the reference photos. While disguised, Ethan can gain access toand operate within heavily patrolledareas without arousing suspicion.Some actions—such as picking alock—arouse the suspicion of theguards despite the mask.

NotesYou don’t select masks from yourinventory. They are used automaticallyat specific points during a level. Youcan attack while in disguise, but anyone who sees you do this alsosees through your disguise and eithersounds an alarm or comes after you.

Hacks and BugsSome missions require Ethan to hacka computer or place a bug on otherobjects. Sometimes the effect isimmediate; other times it is delayed toreach a later mission goal.

NotesWhile these are not devices, Ethanwill automatically hack computers orplace bugs. There’s no need to selectanything from the inventory.

Health Packs

Explosives

Ethan can plant timed explosives toaccomplish objectives such as blowing open a door or causing alarge-scale distraction.

NotesExplosives do not show up in yourinventory and cannot be used excepton objects. To place, just walk up tosuch an object and press Use.

Equipment

IMF ContactLensesEthan’s IMF contacts are equippedwith night vision capability, allowinghim to see more clearly in the dark-ness. An additional feature of the con-tact lenses includes a mission mapdisplayed in the lower left corner ofthe screen. The map displays roomlayouts, objectives, security cameras,and enemies tagged with trackingdarts. Luther can uplink other information to the map based on mission needs.

NotesDuring the game, you do not actuallyuse the contact lenses or even selectthem from your inventory. They function as your night vision as wellas the screen interface for the game,including the minimap.

Laser Cutter

This allows Ethan to open sealed orlocked doors or control panels thatELP can’t unlock. The disadvantage isthat it makes noise that might alertnearby enemies.

NotesThis is another device that Ethan usesautomatically as needed. Just pressUse to bring it out.

Remote CameraViewer (RCV)

Ethan can hack into security camerasystems in certain locations and thenlook ahead into unexplored areas byviewing the security camera videofeed through his IMF contact lenses.

NotesYou can also use the RCV to view thefeed from cameras that you have disabled with the EWG. You must hackthe camera controls to view the feedfrom nondisabled cameras.

Climbing andJumping

Climb onto things to get to upper levels.

At times you need to climb up objects,such as crates, to get to an upperlevel. Move toward an object andkeep moving after you touch it. If itcan be climbed, you automaticallyclimb onto the object.

Other times you may need to jump toreach a ledge, or to grab hold of a lowpipe or wire. To do this, move underthe object, then press Jump. If it’spossible, you jump up and hang fromthe object. Pressing Jump while runningcauses you to perform a diving roll.

TIPUse the Micro Cord to getup to locations higherthan you can jump.

Shimmying

Shimmying gets you to places that areotherwise unreachable.

Stay close to walls or objects and usethem as cover.

Where you move is also an importantconsideration. Try to stay near wallsor objects that provide cover in atleast one direction. If you have tomove across an open area, scout itout first. See if there are any guards,or cameras or other devices thatcould detect you. Take all of that intoaccount, then move as quickly as youcan while maintaining a noise levelappropriate for the situation. If noguards or other people are around,run for the next bit of cover.

Hugging the Wall

Hug a wall to avoid being seen—andto set up for a stealth attack.

At times you’ll need to lean against awall. To do this, move next to a wall,then press Hug Wall to put your backto the wall. You can then move left orright along the wall. When you get toa corner, you can then peek around it.This type of movement can also behandy when you have to squeezethrough a narrow opening or movealong a thin ledge. It also sets you upfor an attack against enemies whowalk past your position.

Noise is also an issue when movingnear enemies. Crouched movement ismuch quieter than running around. Ifyou stay low and go slow, you can getright up behind an enemy. What youdo then is covered in a later section.

If stealth is not an issue and you haveto move through an open area, run asfast as you can—especially if you areheaded to safety.

At times you want to get across anarea quickly. If you’re trying to avoidsomeone or moving through an openarea under fire, run. Your speed isgoverned by your left thumbstick. Thefarther from center you move it, thefaster you move. To sprint, push thestick all the way forward. If you’rebeing shot at, press Jump while runningto do a diving roll, making it harder forenemies to get a bead on you.

TacticalMovement

How you move can be important. It isoften a good idea to stay crouchedand move quietly.

Tactical movement is just another wayof getting around. During missions,you need to infiltrate installations andfacilities, advance to achieve yourobjectives, then get out. Let’s look athow you can use tactical movementto your advantage.

Stance andSpeedIn a mission, there are two stancesand two movement speeds. Whilestanding, you can walk or run. If youchoose to crouch, you can only walk.As a general rule, it is best to moveslowly and crouched down. In acrouched posture, you are better ableto take advantage of cover and concealment and are more difficultfor the enemy to see.

Advanced Training for the IMF OperativeSo you’re the rookie. No problem. If you’re on the IMF force,

you must have some training and experience in the real

world. If you are used to shooting or blasting through all

obstacles and leaving a trail of bodies behind, you need a

change of thinking while working for the IMF.You must shoot

it out on occasion, but the most successful missions are

those in which the enemy never even knew you were there.

This section provides tactics and strategies for accomplishing

your mission objectives. Learn them to increase your chances

of success and decrease the chances that you become a

casualty or are disavowed.

At times, it is a good idea to track aguard. The tracking dart, fired at aguard, shows the guard’s location andfield of view on your minimap. Thismakes avoidance easier.

With a disguise, you can get past theenemy without being detected.

At times, you’re provided with disguises.In disguise, you can move around inthe sight of enemies without raisingalarms. But if you do anything suspi-cious, such as attacking someone, theguards pay closer attention to youand see through the disguise.

Hack into systems or use the ELP toget through electronic locks.

Many of the doors or gates arelocked. Use your ELP to hack throughan electronic lock. Move up to thepanel and press Use to start hacking.Burn through standard locks using the laser cutters. Many computer terminals allow you to access securitycamera feeds, shut down laser tripwires, or open secure areas.

NOTECameras are easy to avoidif you know what you aredoing. Your minimapshows you a camera’sfield of view. You can seewhere it is looking andmove through areaswhere it is not. The camera has a blind spotunderneath it. While it islooking away from you,move along the wall soyou are below the camera.Then, as it pans in theopposite direction, youcan continue your movementout of its field of view.

Distract or Con

Fire a tracking dart at a guard to keeptrack of where he is and which directionhe’s looking.

As an IMF operative, you have severalgadgets at your disposal. Many ofthese allow you to distract or conopposition. The EWG is your mainweapon for these types of actions. Itcontains three types of darts. Theirfunction depends on the target. Oneof the most common uses is to disablecameras. This dart allows you tomove past disabled cameras unde-tected, and you can also use yourRCV to see what the camera sees.

Distracting guards is another usefulability provided by the EWG. Fired atanything but a person or camera, adart makes a noise and a blinkinglight. This attracts the attention ofnearby guards and lures them towardthe dart. By firing a series of darts,you can lead a guard away from hispost so you can sneak past or possibly attack him.

Start off by tryingto avoid opposition as much as possible; termination is the last resort.

Avoid

If you time it just right, you can movebeneath a camera—its blind spot—then continue on when it pans theother way.

In many cases, the best choice is toavoid the enemy altogether. Hide inshadows, then move past guards orcameras while they are looking away,and find paths that bypass securitymeasures. The goal of avoidance is tonot be seen, so it entails less risk ofbeing detected or tripping an alarm.

To avoid opposition, study what youare up against. Learn the patrol pathsof guards, the location of cameras,and whether laser tripwires are in thearea. To do this, use your BCM toobserve from a distance, your sonicimager to see through doors, and yournight vision to make lasers visible toyou. To successfully avoid the enemy,you need patience. But it is oftenworth the time and effort.

Once you grab onto a ledge, wire, orpipe, you can shimmy along it. This is a good means of crossing overobstacles or moving about unnoticed,because most guards never look upwhile on patrol. If you are hanging onto a pipe, pressing Crouch brings yourlegs up and around the pipe. You canthen crawl along the pipe this way.This allows you to move throughtighter areas. Press Crouch again tolower your legs. To drop from a pipeor ledge, press either Attack or Jump.In some places you can pull up to thelevel above while hanging from a ledge.

Hiding in theShadows

Guards walk right past you when youare hiding in the shadows.

One of the best ways to avoid beingseen by the enemy is to hide in theshadows. Also, hide bodies in shadowsso other enemies cannot see them.You often find shadows in alcoves orbehind objects. In a shadowy area,your stealth meter in the upper rightcorner indicates your hidden status. Ifan enemy walks into you or sees yougo into hiding, or if you fire a weapon,enemies see you despite the shadowsand either attack or sound an alarm.

OvercomingOppositionYou’re forced to confront varioustypes of opposition in a mission.These can come in forms ranging

The sniper pistol works great for long-range engagements.

You also have firearms—the IP 45 pistol, the machine pistol, and thesniper pistol. When you have achoice, engage at range, because thefarther away you are, the less likelythe enemy is to hit you. Take advan-tage of cover—stay low and behindsomething. Expose yourself to onlyone enemy at a time—the one you areengaging. Keep an eye on your ammoand duck behind cover when youhave to reload.

Whatever weapon you use, aim forthe enemy’s head. It only takes oneshot to the head to bring down anenemy. It takes three or more hits tothe body, arms, or legs to kill anenemy, and he’s shooting at you allthat time. Unless your adversary is soclose he’s sure to hit you, take theextra time to line up a head shot.

Combat

Use cover as much as possible duringshootouts. Doorways and walls aregreat for limiting your exposure toenemy fire.

When all else fails, you need toengage in combat with the enemy.Silent hand-to-hand combat is best.Once you get a hit on an enemy, itstuns him so he cannot attack you.But to take the enemy out of the mission for good, you need to complete a combo of hits. Just keeppressing Attack until the enemy isdown for the count. The sound of theattack alerts guards close by, but noone else hears you.

Drop onto an enemy to take him out quietly.

You can use a couple of other one-strike attacks if the situation is right.While hugging a wall at the edge of acorner, press Attack as a guard walksby and swing around to take him out.It is just as effective as the droppingattack. To perform this, you must behanging from a pipe over an enemy.An icon appears when you are inposition. Press Attack to drop andtake out the enemy below.

The tranquilizer dart provides you witha stealth attack at range. Just targetthe guard and fire. Duck out of sightafter firing, because the enemy usuallylooks in your direction and may fire orshout out during the second it takesfor the dart to knock him out. Withsome planning, you can arrange it so the body falls out of the sight ofcameras or other guards.

TIPHide bodies. If you leavebodies lying around, otherguards may find them andsound an alarm. Pick upand carry bodies intoshadowy areas or behindobjects where they cannotbe seen by guards on patrol.

NOTEMost missions havealarms that, if set off,must be deactivated within 30 seconds or themission is a failure. Asyou move around, takenote of where alarm control panels are located.You can hack into theseand shut off alarms. Ingeneral, take care of thepotential activator of thealarm as well, whether itis a guard or a securitycamera.

Stealth Attacks

Grabbing and using an enemy is agood way to get through locked doorsrequiring a palm scan.

Sometimes avoidance and distractionare not enough; you must deal with aguard and remove him from an area.The best way to do this is throughstealth attacks to avoid alarms andthe reinforcements they often bring.You are an expert in many forms ofunarmed combat and can quicklyneutralize an enemy without making a sound.

The best way to deal quietly with anenemy is with a one-strike attack. Todo this, move up behind an enemy andpress Attack when the icon for stealthattack appears in the upper right cornerof your screen. You also can grab anenemy in this position by pressing theInteract with Body button instead.Then you can lead the person toanother location and press Attack totake him out where the body won’t beseen. blind eye to organized crime.

Tonight, you will meet an unidentified informant whom we

know to be a high-level insider of the nascent Yugarian

government—specifically with the Information Ministry. He

claims to possess information regarding the administration’s

ongoing secret operations in the southwest United States.

Jasmine Curry, our new recruit, will enter the area disguised

as a delivery person to reconnoiter the perimeter and provide

you with a synchronized equipment drop, after which she will

return to Luther’s van to observe your efforts.

Your mission will be to infiltrate the building from a low-risk

street approach, confirm the informer’s identity, and escort him

to transportation out of the capital. In addition to Ms. Curry,

the team includes your long-time associate, Luther Stickell,

who will provide real-time telemetry and security analysis.

Additionally we have secured the talents of Billy Baird as the

getaway driver.

As always, should you or any of your IM Force be captured or

killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of your

actions.This briefing will self-destruct in five seconds.

Don’t leave the guard’s body lyingaround. While standing next to it,press Body Interact to pick it up.Carry it into one of the dark alcovesand press the button again to dump it.Hiding bodies is important; otherguards sound an alarm if they see abody lying on the ground. Wait in thealcove with the body until the twoguards come back, and leave again.

Continue on to the next gate and hidein the shadows to the right of thegate. You are waiting for a guard tomake his rounds. Use Wall Hug andpeek around the corner to keep aneye on the guard. He walks past thegate from right to left, and pauses.

As soon as he pauses, move throughthe gate.

When you get to the gate, open it. It isnot locked, so just press Use andhead inside.

Move next to the wall on the right andpress Hug Wall. This makes Ethanstand up and press flat against thewall. Move toward the corner andpeek around. Around the next corner,you can see the back of a guard.Advance with caution.

Move away from the wall and crouchdown. Cross the walkway and hide inthe last alcove on the left. Wait untiltwo guards walk past you and continueon around the corner. Then quietlymove in behind the guard standingaround the corner from you.

As soon as Ethan is behind theguard—or if he turns around and seesyou—press the Hand-to-Hand attackbutton. If you took him by surprise,you can neutralize him with a singlehit. However, you may have to press

Move to the right of the statue andpress up against the low wall. Ethanwill automatically climb up to thewalkway at the top. Once you get tothe top, a window appears andexplains how to crouch down. You’reapproaching an area where thereare guards, so crouch down now.While crouched, you move moreslowly and quietly, and are less likelyto alert enemies to your presence.

Tip Listen for whistling—thissignals that a guard ispatrolling nearby andheading your way.

Turn and face the building, then pressthe Jump button. Ethan jumps up andgrabs hold of the pipe.

Ethan can now shimmy across to thebalcony opposite where he jumpedup. Keep moving until Ethan is overthe balcony, then press Use to drop down.

Before running around the balcony,drop to a crouch and activate yournight vision. This allows you to see acouple of laser tripwires. Walk underthe first while staying in a crouch.

As you approach the second lasertripwire, you see a security camera.Once again, use the EWG to disablethe camera.

Aim the reticule on the camera.When you press Fire, the gun fires a

dart that disables the camera andgives Luther control of it. From thevan, he can then loop the video soEthan can walk past the camera without setting off an alarm.

Now go through the gate and headdown the stairs to the door. Beforeopening it, select your sonic imager.Press Aim to activate it. This allowsyou to see what is on the other sideas you stand next to the door. Whenlooking through this door, you see aguard with his back to you. Use theELP on the lock and open the door.

When it opens, the guard starts walkingaway. Don’t worry. You get him whenhe comes back. Move forward to thewall and hug it. Move to the cornerand wait for the guard to come back.When he’s adjacent to Ethan, pressAttack and Ethan takes down the guard.

Leave the body where it lies and thenclimb up the ladder to the upper walk-way. At the top, head to the left .

New Objective• Jasmine dropped your

equipment in the garbage and you must find it.

With the system hacked, use the RCVdevice to transmit the view of securitycameras into Ethan’s contact lenses.Select the gadget and press theAiming Mode button to activate theview. The Fire button allows you tocycle the view between three cameras.Look through each to see what liesahead of you. Press Aiming Modeagain to return to normal view.

You need to get through the next gate,to the right of the telecom box. Thisgate is locked. Walk up to the lockingmechanism and press Use. Ethanpulls out his electronic lock pick, orELP, and unlocks the gate.

After going through the gate, crouchdown and select the EWG. You mustdisable a security camera on theother side of the gate before continuing.

Sneak up behind the security guard.Use Hand-to-Hand to take him out.

TIPThe guards can hurt Ethan,and they can also set offalarms. If this happens,you have a certain amountof time to deactivate thealarms before the missionis compromised and Ethandisavowed. There is analarm box at the lowerlevel near the telecombox. If the guard sets itoff, take him out, andhead to the alarm controlbox. Press Use here andEthan hacks the systemto shut off the alarm. Topractice, press Use nearthe alarm and set it offyourself. Then try deacti-vating the alarm. In mis-sions, note the locationsof these boxes just incase an alarm goes off.

You can leave this body because noone else comes through here. Moveto the telecom box and press Use tostart hacking it. This allows Luther toaccess the security system and findinformation you need for the mission.You also get a new objective.

Move under the second laser tripwireand toward the ledge leading to thegarbage area. Stop before you dropdown and use the Binocs to observethe security guard across the court-yard. You need to neutralize him, sowatch his patrol path.

Now jump down into the garbagearea and then use the Micro Cord toget out via the pipe. Walk along thewall toward the security guard. Notethe alarm control box along the way,in case you need it.

Wait by the corner of the building until the security guard comes towardyou, then turns around and beginswalking away.

This is your chance to sneak upbehind him. Be ready to rush theguard if he turns around and sees you.

Select your Binocs and press theAiming button to bring up the view.Center it on the tower as shown andpress Fire to take a shot. You canzoom in if needed by pressing Use.Luther lets you know if the shot isgood enough. If not, change the viewa bit and try again. Luther can be picky.

With the first shot taken, move to theleft where you find a gate. Use theELP to unlock it and you’re back at theladder. Climb up it and shimmy acrossthe ledge to the balcony again.

Continue past the first laser tripwireand take a shot of the communicationstower next to the second laser tripwire. This completes your objective—and gives you a new one.

New Objective• Luther arranged a meeting

with the informer, and you must make contact.

Shimmy along the pipe until you aredirectly over a security guard below.Rotate your view to make sure Ethanis correctly positioned.

Press Attack and Ethan drops downfrom the pipe and takes out the guardwith a single hit. Remember this attack.

You now need to find the communica-tions towers. The first tower is acrossthe courtyard. Turn so you are facingthe fountain, crouch down, and thenhead past the left side of the fountain.To your right is a security guard. Staylow and to the left, and he does notsee you.

Keep moving past the fountain andthen to the right a bit until you find thecommunications tower.

Move under the second tripwire and follow the balcony around and tothe left. Pass through the door.

Continue out onto a ledge until youare overlooking the garbage area.Below is the equipment Jasminedropped. Jump down onto the rubbishbin to pick it up and add it to yourinventory.

You receive a new objective. Beforeyou can take any pictures, you needto get out of the garbage area. Selectthe Micro Cord device that you justacquired. Press Aim and then centerthe reticule on the pipe overhead.When you press fire, Ethan is carriedup to the pipe.

If you look around the corner, you seea guard. This is the one you could seeusing the camera hack. That meansthere is a security camera rightbehind the guard.

Lure the guard away from the view ofthe camera so you can deal with him.Hide in the shadowy alcove. Selectthe EWG and fire a distraction dart atthe crates to your left.

As the guard moves toward the crate,fire one at the shelves and thenanother at the barrels. It may take afew more darts to lead the guard overto the barrels. When he’s there andnot looking in your direction, sneak upbehind him and press Attack. Ethantakes him down.

With the EWG out, head around thecorner and disable the security camera. You have just a few secondsto disable it before the alarm sounds.

Walk to the single door and pressUse. It is locked. Press the buttonagain and Ethan takes out the lasercutter and slices through the lock.

Once through the door, you see anopen corridor leading to the controlpanel for the laser tripwires.

If you activate your night vision, youalso see tripwires blocking your way.

Select the Micro Cord and fire it at apipe above you. Your feet hit the lasertripwires if you try to shimmy across,so press Crouch to bring them up ontothe pipe. Now crawl across the trip-wires and drop down on the otherside. You have to press Crouch againto lower your legs before dropping.

You now have to get the informantback to the van. Before you leave,select the EWG. Aim and shoot it atthe informant. It does not hurt him.You’ve fired a tracking dart thatallows you to keep track of his location on your minimap.

Now head back down the stairs andthen straight ahead. As you pass bythe planter, turn to the right. You see acouple large doors. To the right is analarm control box. Remember it (justin case) and then head toward thesmall door on the left.

As you approach the door, activateyour night vision to see laser tripwiresblocking your way out.

If you can get behind him, press theBody Interact button, like you did topick up bodies. This time, Ethan grabsthe guard.

Now turn around and walk the guardback toward the gate leading to theinformant. When you get to the lock,press Use to make the guard put hishand on the pad and unlock the gate.Then press the Attack button to knockhim out.

Head up the stairs, where you meetwith the informant. He gives you thelaser cutter, which you soon need.

As you exit the gate, head right andmake your way down the road. Luthertells you to abort the mission. It is notworth going after the assassin.Neutralize the rest of the guards soyou can get away.

Continue down the street. You take aleft and head up some stairs. As youapproach an opening on the left,crouch down and halt.

Pick up the health pack near the gateand use it if needed. Use the lasercutter to get through the locked gate.

New Objective• The mission is blown.

Finish the remaining guards and meet Luther.

With Mikhail dead, Ethan is onceagain on his own. The first area hasthree guards. You need to take out thefirst one at the top of the stairs beforehe sees you and alerts the rest. Justrun up and attack.

Wait at the top of the stairs and watchthe guard at the bottom. He walks upthe stairs a bit, then turns around andheads toward the gate. As he leavesthe stairs, crouch down and head forthe guard on the landing.

Sneak up behind him and then pressAttack. Ethan lays him out cold. Nowgo after the last guard. Stand up andrush him, because he usually seesyou approaching. Complete the attackcombo to make sure he stays down.

The Streets ofVilistra

Briefing

Ethan and Mikhail prepare to leavethe Ministry.

Having helped Mikhail Marcou getsafely out of the Ministry ofInformation, you run into someserious trouble. Someone is awareof your little plan and assassinatesMikhail before you can get him tothe van. The informant is no longerof any use, so Ethan takes the datadisc and prepares to go after theassassin before making his escape.Several enemies stand between himand safety.

Now walk over to the control paneland press Use. Ethan takes out thelaser cutter and disables the lasertripwires inside this room as well asoutside the door.

To exit the level, you need the hand-print of a security guard. Pick up theone you just knocked out and carryhim out the door and to the pad on theright. Press Use to unlock the doorand complete your objective.

Once one guard is down, sidestep tothe left a bit more to take out the next.

Four guards are on the ground. Somehide behind crates. The fifth is on thetower to the right. He is hard to see,so let your targeting reticule find himand fire away. Once all guards havebeen eliminated, the mission ends.Good job! You are now ready for moredifficult assignments.

Crouch and press Aim to bring the IP45 up to use. Sidestep left until thefirst guard is in sight. You can targetdifferent parts of the guard’s body.Aim for the head and fire. Head shotskill with one shot. It is worth takingthe extra half-second to aim for thehead, or you’ll have to fire severalshots to take down an enemy.

Before you exit the room where theguards were located, walk over to apedestal on the right and pick up theIP 45. Switch to this new weapon,because you need it to get past thefive remaining guards.

Take a right and run down the streetto the place where the road makes aright turn. Around the corner is thetrouble.

Select your tranquilizer gun, aim,crouch down and sidestep to the rightuntil the first guard comes into view.Fire a dart at him and then sidestepback to the left. The dart takes a second to knock out the guard. Repeatthe process for the second guard.

With the guards down, Ethan can usethe laser cutter to get through anotherlocked gate.

This mission is fairly straightforward.You need to deal with four securityguards and four security cameras.They are separated so you can dealwith one at a time. Avoid settingoff alarms, because the alarm control panels are not always nearyou. As usual, stealth is the besttactic, although in a few instances,it is best to run after a securityguard and take him out before hecan respond to your presence by shooting you or sounding an alarm.

When a security guard enters theoffice at the bottom of the stairs, headdown and continue past the window.Stay low so the guard inside does notsee you. Continue inside and take himout with an attack combo.

You can leave the body here. A healthpack is at the back of the office. Alsonote the alarm control box. If youwant to use the monitor box, you cansee the views through the securitycameras.

Don’t spend a lot of time in the office.The doctor is on the move. Make yourway to the rocks across from theoffice and hide in the shadows.

Make sure you have a good view ofthe entrance to the facility.

When it is clear, make your way to thecamera and wait under it until it turnsback to view up the stairs. This is yourchance to head down the next flightof stairs.

Use the same tactic to get past thesecond camera. This time, use theminimap to time it just right.

You may not have time to rush pastthe third camera, so use the EWG tofire a disabler dart at it. Be sure it islooking away when you move aroundthe corner to fire.

Wait at the corner by this third cameraand watch the area at the bottom ofthe stairs. You are waiting for a phoneto ring in the office below.

Try to advance while the guard islooking away. He will see you eventually.When this happens, stand up and runto attack him, using hand-to-handcombat.

Continue to the stairway. Off to theright, you see the first security camera.

Wait until the camera turns away fromyou. Watch it from around the corneror by watching the minimap. Eitherway works, but the minimap showsthe camera’s field of view exactly.

Shortly after the mission begins, thehelicopter takes off. Don’t worry aboutit. Instead, turn to your left and hopdown to the platform below.

If you look up, you see a wire over-head. Pull out the Micro Cord and fireit at the wire.

Shimmy across the wire to the walk-way surrounding the helipad. Droponto the walkway as a guard walksbelow to take him out.

Take a left and head toward the stairway. Keep an eye on the othersecurity guard.

When he is on the other side of theparking lot, exit the office and headfor the rocks to your right.

Hide behind a rock until the securityguard makes another round.

Then rush to the door. Luther unlocksit for you. Press Use to open it andenter the next level.

When it is clear, continue on to thesecurity office.

Open the door and take out the guardinside with a hand-to-hand attack.If an alarm is sounded, you can

deactivate it at the alarm control boxin this office.

Now hack into the security computer.Walk over to it and press Use.

New Objective• Enter the Los Muertos

facility.

Crouch down and watch out the window or on the minimap for thesecurity guard outside to pass by.

New Objective• Hack the security computer

and Luther unlocks the base doors.

You now have to get to the securitycomputer in the office on the oppositeside of the parking lot. You could takeout the security guard, but just taghim with a tracking dart instead. Youcan then monitor his location on theminimap.

Fire a disabler dart at the securitycamera near the entrance so you donot have to worry about it.

Wait for the guard to move away fromyou and around to the other side ofthe parking lot. Then head past theentrance of the facility.

You can hide behind these rocks ifnecessary. The shadows conceal you.

Then pull out your BCM and wait forDr. Norton to head to the entrance.When he gets near the entrance, thedoctor turns and faces you momen-tarily. This is your only chance to geta shot of his face. Take the picture,but do not harm the doctor.

A security guard patrols the parkinglot in a clockwise direction. Move soyou are still hidden but can see theright side of the parking lot.

Pull out the BCM and zoom in theview so you can take a shot of thesecurity guard’s face for Luther. Thattakes care of the first objectives.

While hidden, use your BCM to watchthe guard in the security booth. Hemoves back and forth between consoles a couple of times, thenheads down some stairs to a coffeemachine. Always wait until he is away from the consoles before moving about.

Head up the stairs to the left. Thisputs you along a wall with a coupleshadowy alcoves in which you can hide.

and hack his computer for information.

Shimmy across so you are on theother side of the checkpoint. A guardshould be below. If not, wait until hereturns, then press Attack to dropdown and take him out.

The MainEntrance

Briefing

You are inside the facility, but there iseven more security here than therewas outside.

This is your most difficult level yet.You can get past most of the security,but you have to keep an eye on aguard in a security booth. He canbe tough to see at a distance, buthe sounds the alarm if he sees you.To complete your objectives, youonly need to deal with one guard;avoid the rest. Look around forshadows in which you can hide.Also, remember that guards forgetto look up. Take advantage of pipesto get around unseen.

Your first task is to eliminate Dr.Norton, then access his computer.Along the way, you have to providean opportunity for a member ofyour team to enter and provide youwith a disguise that you need to getto the next level. You can completethis level even if an alarm is raised,but the guards shoot to kill and youhave only 30 seconds to deactivatethe alarm before the mission is afailure. Stay out of sight.

Use the Micro Cord to rise to the pipeup above your head, then shimmyacross toward the second securitycamera. Drop onto a platorm and hide.

There is a guard along the northernwall. From your vantage point in theshadows overlooking the hallway, use the tranq gun to knock him out.Pick up the body and hide it in theshadows near the crates. When thepatrolling guard comes around, do thesame to him and hide the body. Thisclears the halls for you.

Wait for the guard in the booth to getsome coffee, then disable the cameraabove you.

Quickly climb up the ladder on theother side of the camera. When youget to the top, use the Micro Cord toascend to the pipe.

New Objective• Log Dr. Norton out of the

security computer.

Before you rush out to take on yournext objective, stop by the door andtake out your sonic imager. Activate itand you see a security guard comedown the stairs to give Dr. Norton amessage. Stay put; the guard headsback up the stairs and exits. Now youcan head back up to the door of theconference room.

Check the minimap to make sure thepatrolling guards are not headed yourway. Exit and head to the right, hidingin the shadows. You need to disable acamera. Wait until it pans away, thenuse the EWG.

With the camera out, make sure thepatrolling guards are not coming, then walk toward the corner with thecamera.

Continue to the door for the confer-ence room. Open it and enter.

Sneak up behind Dr. Norton and grabhim by pressing Body Interact. Knockhim out with Attack if he sees you.

Take the doctor, conscious or not,down the stairs and have him use thehand panel to unlock the door to his office.

Once inside, knock him out or dumphis body in the corner.

Now head over to the computer andhack it to complete your objective.

A guard patrols in a clockwise direction. When he has passed and itis clear, head to the second alcove.Diable the camera to the right of thesecurity booth.

Continue on to hide behind the filecabinets. Take out the EWG and fire atracking dart at the guard on patrolso you can use the minimap to seewhere he is. After firing, move into thecorner by the desk so he does not see you.

After the patrolling guard is aroundthe corner and the other is gettingcoffee, follow the patrolling guardaround to the left. Hide in the shadows here.

Watch for the break room to your left.A guard inside sounds an alarm if hesees you. Stay in the shadows whilehe is visible in the window.

Now make your way toward the doorto the right of the security booth.

Walk up to the door and use the door.The guard in the booth lets you enter.

Cross the room to the double doors onthe other side and exit to the next level.

Spelvin gives you a guard disguise.This allows you to walk around without alerting the guards.

To exit this level, you need a securitybadge. Exit the conference room andhead for the break room.

Enter the room and continue aroundthe corner to the lockers. You canpick up a badge from another uniform.

As you leave the break room, pick upthe health pack. You may need it later.

Wait by the door to the security booth.You cannot open it, but you can seethrough the window. Stay croucheddown. When you see the guard headedyour way and the patrolling guardsare across from the break room, standand run out the door.

Find cover in the shadows along thecorridor between the two securitycameras.

After the patrolling guards pass by,make your way to the conferenceroom and meet with Spelvin.

Shimmy across the pipe toward thelocked door. From this position, youhave a good view of the guard in the booth.

When he heads for more coffee, andthe patrolling guards are away, dropdown and run over to the electroniclock. Pick it with the ELP, then enterthe room.

Use the computer to log out Dr. Norton.Use the console opposite the door tosecurity booth. This will allow you to usethe RCV to watch the guard in the booth.

This makes the security system thinkDr. Norton has left. Now Spelvin, indisguise as the doctor, can enter thefacility through the metal detectors andit appears that Dr. Norton has returned.

Head for the metal square secondfrom the right. You should get therejust as the target is rising. Crouchdown and hide behind the targetwhile the turrets fire.

TIPYou may take some damage even while hidingbehind the targets. If itgets to be too much, usethe health packs youpicked up at the start ofthis level as well as theone from the previous level.

Now head through the steel door intothe weapons test area. Since the testhas been shut down, this door isunlocked.

As soon as you enter the test area,the scientist starts the test again.Move quickly or you will be shot down.

Turn to your left and head for the steeldoor. Open it and enter the next room.

On the table to your right is a healthpack. Pick it up; you’ll need it for this level.

The Weapons Lab

Briefing

The weapons lab is a dangerousplace. Be careful.

This level is short, but not so sweet.There are only two other peoplehere—a scientist and a guard. They are not your biggest threats.Instead, you have to get past a couple of automated gun turrets.Spend some time observing andthinking during this level and yousave a lot of time in the long run.Try to rush through, and you diequickly.

The Computer CoreBriefing

You have to get to these backuparchives to access files and see whathas been going on at Los Muertos.

This level is more involved than thelast. In addition to guards, youhave to deal with security systemsfeaturing lots of laser tripwires.There are also three puzzle-typeactivities in which you must accesscomputer files within a certaintime limit. Aside from the puzzles,there is no need to rush. Use stealthand patience to get through without setting off any alarms.

Ethan begins on a catwalk overlookingan empty corridor. Activate your nightvision and you see it is filled withlaser tripwires.

Falling into the green tank kills youimmediately. While hanging, watch

the turret. As soon as it dips into thewhite tank, move as close to the turretas possible.

When the turret moves for the heater,shimmy along the cable as fast as youcan. Drop to the ground once you arepast the green tank and before theturret heads back toward you. Thereis a guard to the left of the ladder; ifyou are quiet, you can sneak past him.

Climb up the ladder and move towardthe metal casing to climb onto it. Usethe panel to shut off the heating elements above.

Make sure the turret is gone, thenclimb up into the heater. Move pastthe elements and around the corner to the left.

Knock him out, then pick up the body.

Carry the scientist over to the door onthe left and use his hand to getthrough the security lock. Drop thebody when you are done.

You are now in an area where gunturrets are being cleaned. Use yourMicro Cord to get up onto the cableabove your head. Watch out for theturret. It knocks you off the cable if ittouches you.

The turret is first lowered into thegreen tank, then the white tank,before being taken to a heating element to dry off. The white tankdamages you a bit, so get out quickly.

Once the target lowers, head for themetal square to the right. Use the targets for cover. Follow the pattern toget through this area. From here moveforward and to the left. Then move right.

Once you get to the closest targets,there is only one on each side insteadof a pair. Move to the closest one andwait for the turrets to pause.

As soon as the target drops, standand run for the gap between the gunturrets. They both start to track youand end up shooting each other.

Continue moving toward the scientistat the computer on the right.

Tip:Ethan can also Wall Hugalong the edge of thetanks as an alternative tousing the Micro Cord cable.

The next gap is along the left wall.Hug the wall and move through it.

You need to use the Micro Cord to getto a pipe. This time bring your legs up,because you’ve less clearance thanpreviously.

Shimmy to the end of the pipe andlower your legs. Drop to the floorbelow, there is a health pack on the wall.

Locate a pipe above your head anduse the Micro Cord to reach it.Shimmy through a gap in the nextlaser grid.

Climb down the ladder and crouch.Move to the right side of the first lasergrid and move through a gap.

Move to access the terminal.

Use the laser cutters to access thesecond data archive. Use the sametactics as before to access five filesin a minute and a half.

The third corridor has the movinglaser grids. Just crouch down andmove through the gaps as you did inthe last corridor.

access all three files. When you haveall three, lower yourself to the groundand exit the gated area.

NOTEDon’t worry if you can’tget all three files in aminute. The puzzle resetsand you can try it again.You don’t have to startthe level over again.

The next corridor requires timing. Thelaser grid is moving toward you. Crouchdown and move through gaps thatappear to the left and right until youget to the other end of the corridor.

Move forward and over to the gate on your left. You must use the lasercutter to open the gate to access thebackup files.

Once inside, hack the panel on the leftto shut down the mechanical arms.

Now pull out the Micro Cord and aimat the metallic square above you.Unlike previously, you have controlover your elevation. Follow theonscreen instructions to lower andraise yourself as well as to positionyourself horizontally.

Lower yourself to the first red datafile. Rock back and forth until you canreach it. Once near it, press Use toaccess it. You have 90 seconds to

Once the core rises, move around tothe back and access the control panelto piggyback Sofia’s download.

floor through the secure elevator.

It is time to leave the computer core area.

As you get near the doors, use thecontrols on the right wall to open thesecure doors.

Exit the core area and take a lefttoward the elevator. You have to hackthe controls. Then enter the elevatorand use the panel. Once you do, thelevel is complete.

Once you have all the files, headdown the walkway and descend the ladder.

As the tour leaves the area, a coupleof security guards enter. One ispatrolling the walkway on your side ofthe room. Hide in the shadows until heapproaches, then take him out.

Do the same to the guard on the otherside. Use the shadows to hide youradvance and take him out. If the alarmsounds in the high security area, themission is failed and you cannot diasble it.

Now move over to the terminal andaccess the computer core.

computer core. You need this informa-tion for later. You also notice Sofiabegin a download action. You onlyneed to observe and not take a picture.

New Objective• Hack the computer core to

piggyback on Sofia’s download.

After the tour leaves, turn around andaccess the files in the third dataarchive. This is tougher, because youhave to get eight files and cannot shutdown the arms. Flip to vertical as thearms approach to avoid getting hit. Oryou can swing back and raise orlower yourself as the arms move by.

This causes the doors to open andallows Ethan to enter the core area.

Enter and head upstairs to the right.

Now you need to get data archive C.Climb the ladder to an upper walkway.

As you move along, you see that athree-person tour is about to enter thecore area.

At the end of the walkway, you canlook down at the terminal below. Usethe Binocs to observe what the termi-nal operator types in to access the

When the two start walking awayfrom you, move out into the hall. Thescientist walks ahead and then leftinto a break room. The guard headsdown the hallway to the right.

Halt at the wall so you are out of thesecretary’s sight and not visible to theguard and scientist in the hallway.

Shortly after the secretary walksaway from the elevator, her phonerings. This is your chance to sneakpast. Crouch down and make yourway toward the hallway.

This level is well lit—no more running about in the dark trying toavoid invisible laser tripwires.Instead, you have to avoid a securitycamera and a single guard. If youtake your time and use caution,you won’t have trouble completingthe objectives.

Make your way to the office room.You need to hack the security lock toget through the door.

This room comtains two roaming scientists. Knock them both outbefore they can sound the alarm.

Hide the bodies in the cubicle so theyare out of sight. Access the first computer indicated on your map toget the third code.

Go around the corner, then all the wayto the other side of the room.

Now access the computer indicatedon your map to get the fourth code.

guard shows up a shorttime later. If knocking outthe first guard becomesnecessary, hide his bodyso the replacement doesnot see it and sound an alarm. Alternately, youcan use the Sonic Imagerto check for the guardbefore entering the hallway.

To the right you find a PDA on a table.Pick it up to get the first code.

Now head for the conference room toget a second PDA.

A scientist is inside. Sneak up behindhim and knock him out, then pick upthe PDA.

Wait again for the guard to passbefore exiting. Then follow himaround through the hallway, beingcareful to stay out of sight.

Lead the scientist over to Spelvin,who interrogates him.

codes and erase sensitive data from the server.

The scientist does not have all theaccess codes Spelvin needs. Youhave to search the office area for fourmore codes.

You no longer need the scientist, soEthan knocks him out.

Walk to the door and check your minimap. Wait for the guard to walkpast you and around the cornerbefore you exit. Walk straight aheadto the waiting area.

TIPYou may be tempted toknock out the securityguard. If you do, another

The Biolab

The biolab contains some nastygerms. Time to disinfect.

This is a quick mission. You haveonly a single security guard to dealwith right from the beginning.Once you take care of him, all youhave to do is destroy the virusesand get out of the biolab.

Initial Objective• Use the incubator controls

to destroy all three neurodioxin viruses.

Instead of turning left to the secretary,move forward and to the right to thesecurity panel. Hack it to unlock thedoor to the large conference room.

Use the EWG to disable the camera inthis room.

Now you have to hack the console tounlock the secure elevator.

Once the doors open, enter and usethe controls to send the elevator tothe biolab.

Head back to the server room andenter the codes. Check to make surethe security guard is not aroundbefore exiting into the hallway.

Continue to the computer terminal inthe fenced area and enter the codes.This gives Luther further access intothe system.

Continue past the control consoles tothe other side of the room.

When you get to the steel door, openit to exit the level.

The Basement

Briefing

Get ready to do some shooting.

This level is pure shooting. No puzzles to solve and no sneakingaround. Just take out all the enemies.

You now need to get out of the bio-lab—and fast. Take out your MicroCord and aim up at the pipe above.Fire through the glass of the biolaband rise to safety.

You set off alarms, but that does notmatter. Shimmy over to the ledgeabove the security booth and drop down.

New Objective• Leave through the

security booth.

Hop down to the floor below.

Climb up the stairs and enter thesecurity booth.

Walk over to the first incubator andstand by the keyboard marked“Control.” Make sure you can see thered, yellow, and green bar on the right.Press Use to raise the temperatureinto the yellow zone. You have topress and release the button continu-ously to keep the temperature in theyellow. If it drops to green, you haveto start the timer over again to kill theviruses. If the temperatures rises intothe red, the incubator breaks andreleases the virus, ending the missionin failure.

After the first virus has been killed,move to the second incubator andrepeat the process. Gas is pouringinto the room now, so make it count.

The gas is starting to affect yourvision, so rush and kill the virus in thethird incubator.

New Objective• Escape the biolab cage

before succumbing to flooding gas.

Sneak up behind the guard and grab him.

Take him to the biolab entrance andhave him use his palm to get throughthe first door.

You need to use the guard to activatethe panel inside the decontaminationchamber.

Once the decontamination processhas begun, you can knock out theguard. When the doors open, enterthe biolab.

On the console you find some moreammo for the IP 45. Pick it up,because you need it.

Head for the door near the dead bodies.

In the next room you find anotherhenchman. Shoot him!

Pick up some more ammo as well as ahealth pack before you exit throughthe next door. Crouch and have yourgun drawn as you open the door.

An enemy awaits as you open thedoor. Take him down.

With the first two henchmen neutralized,head up the stairs. Keep your pistoldrawn and ready to fire to your right.

A third henchman is on the walkwayto your right. Quickly take him out.

It is now time to head into the next room.Be careful; two enemies are inside.

Face to the left as you sidestepthrough the door and you can take outthe first henchman by the other door.

While maintaining this perspective,back up to find cover behind a shortwall, then eliminate the second hench-man when he heads over by the door.

There are two on the catwalks, soexpose yourself to only one at a time.Once you take out the one to the right,deal with the one farther away and onthe left.

TIPThe enemies like to hidebehind objects during agunfight. A good tactic isto aim where their headspop up and wait. Whenone shows himself, takehim out with a single shotto the head.

When the action music dies down,you know all enemies are neutralized.Head for the double doors at the endof the room to exit the level.

Disarming theBombs

Briefing

Jong Ho Li orders explosives to be setaround the area.

This is another shooting level. Youhave to take out several enemies.You must also deactivate threebombs set by Jong Ho Li’s men.There is no need to hurry to get tothe first bomb, but once it is deac-tivated, it starts a timer on theother two. Then you have to get amove on.

Don’t forget to pick up the health packand ammo up here.

Head back to the crates and drop tothe ground floor.

A henchman should be behind somecrates below the platform above. Takehim out.

The make your way around the cornerto the right. Another henchman isbehind a pillar up ahead.

Keep the pillar between the henchmanand you, and you can get in close forthe kill.

Now pull out your IP 45, crouch down,and head for the next door.

As you move into the large warehouse-type room, look to the right and takeout the first henchman.

You can climb up these crates to getto a higher platform.

From up here, you can shoot down onthe henchmen below. There is usuallyone off to the left...

...and another straight ahead below atthe end of the platform.

As you enter the room, anotherhenchman enters to your right. Drophim as well.

With the room now clear, use theMicro Cord to ascend to the pipeoverhead.

Shimmy over the fence to get past alocked gate.

Drop down and pick up some more ammo.

You can open the gate from the inside,so there is no need to use the pipe toget out again.

Pick up some more ammo as well as ahealth pack.

Then use the console to unlock a doorto the room where the first bomb islocated.

Head over to the door with the greenlit panel. It opens when you press Use.

Three henchmen are inside. Takethem out one at a time. You can gettwo as they come around the corner.

Then take out the third with a longshot—unless he comes to you.

You find some ammo on a crate infront of you.

Head through the door to this little office.

Drop to a crouch and pull out the IP45. Drop the enemy as he walks by.

Turn to face the doorway to the right.As you step out of the room in whichEthan begins, another henchmancomes through the doorway. Shoot atthe explosive barrel to take him outwith a single shot.

The bomb is on the fuel tank on theleft. Deactivate it before the timerruns out.

New Objective• Pursue Jong Ho Li and

capture him.

Climb up the ladder, then exit the room.

As you head for the stairs, you runinto a henchman waiting to attackyou. Shoot him down.

Head up the stairs and take out ahenchman in the large room at the top.

Head for the double doors on the rightto exit the level.

Continue onto the small office, whereyou find more ammo and a health pack.

While there, use the console tounlock the door to the room where thelast bomb is located.

As you exit the office, the door is toyour left.

Inside this next room are a couplemore henchmen. Take care of themwith your pistol.

When the area is clear, run forwardand up the stairs. At the top, you seea couple of holes in the platform.Climb down one of these ladders.

Head for the stairway leading to thelower level where the third and finalexplosive is located.

There is one henchman in the stairwell,so have your gun drawn and ready todispatch him.

When you get to the bottom of thestairs, be ready for more trouble.Three henchmen are in the next room.Stay in the stairwell and engage theenemies as they come into viewthrough the doorway. This gives yousome cover.

After all three are down, run into theroom and grab some ammo on a crate.

At the end of the room and on theright you find the first explosive. Hackit to deactivate it.

Now enter the security office.

Pick up a health pack and some pistolammo in the office, then head outside.

Your first task is to get to the securityoffice across the parking lot. You haveto take out a thug almost right fromthe start.

As you approach the office, shootdown a second enemy.

You start out in the parking lot. Crouchdown and pull out your pistol.

Keep up the fire on Jong Ho Li. Oncehe is dead, the mission is complete.

If you get low on ammo, run to thiscrate to your left to re-supply. Watchout for thugs that appear two at atime on the other side of the helipad.You can usually take them out atrange with a couple of head shotsbefore they get close enough to shoot you.

Now make your way up the stairs tothe helipad. Keep your gun at theready; you can ignore the cameras for now.

You face a couple of Jong Ho Li’shenchmen coming down the stairs. Ifthey get too close, use hand-to-handcombat to take them out.

At the top of the stairs, you have todeal with Jong Ho Li. He is armedwith an assault rifle that quickly killsyou if you are not careful.

At the start of this battle, run to thecrates ahead of you and on the right.Crouch down behind them and startshooting at Jong Ho Li as he pops hishead up to shoot at you.

Head over to the rocks to your leftand use them for cover as you shoot itout with a couple of enemies.

Make your way back across the parking lot, staying to the left andwatching right.

Head toward the rocks and use themfor cover as you take out the enemy inthe office by the stairs.

Head into the office for another healthpack and more ammo.

As you leave, be ready for anotherthug to come after you.

Your first mission back in Yugariais to track Sofia. The IMF has pro-vided you with a new gadget—theWASP. With this stealthy flyingdevice, you can remain hiddenwhile looking around the area. Youmust locate Sofia, identify her, andthen physically follow her as shewalks through the alleys. Comparedto some of the previous tasks youhave been assigned, this one is notthat difficult. Just remember to usecaution and maintain stealth.Avoid setting off alarms and yourjob is much easier.

Initial Objective• Use the WASP to

follow Sofia.

Ethan begins around the corner fromthe main street, hiding behind someboxes. For now, that’s where heshould stay.

Select the WASP and then press Aimto launch it. You may find the devicetricky to fly at first, because the con-trols are different than those forEthan. You’ll get it down with a littlepractice. Start off by flying around thecorner and head east. The compass in the heads-up display helps younavigate.

Leave the body where it is. Move for-ward and down the stairs.

Hug the wall on the right and move tothe edge. Now wait for the patrollingguard to come back your way.

As soon as he’s next to you, pressAttack. Ethan swings around the cor-ner and drops the guard.

Pick up the body and carry it upstairsto where the other body is lying.

Ethan is still hiding behind the crates.Make sure no guards are headed yourway, then turn around and facebehind you.

Use the Micro Cord to get up to thepipe under the balcony.

Shimmy along the pipe until you havecrossed the wall and are over aguard. The icon in the upper right cor-ner of the screen lets you know whenyou are in position.

Wait for the security guard in thealleyway to walk away and then dropdown to take out the guard below you.

Sofia eventually turns to the right andpasses through another gate. Keepher in sight.

Sofia heads down another alley andthen turns to enter a building. Yoursurveillance of her stops here.

New Objective• Catch up to Sofia on foot.

Instead of discontinuing control of theWASP, fly back through the alley tothe second gate. Once through it, flyforward and then down the alley tothe right.

You have to get to the building thatSofia entered. Use the WASP to scoutout the alleys to see where the guardsand cameras are located. This makesyour infiltration much easier. Whenyou are done, press Aim to switchback to controlling Ethan.

Keep flying until you see the tablescovered with raised umbrellas aheadand to the right. Close in on the figurealone by the lightpost. This is Sofiaand you have a positive ID on her.Now you must follow her.

Fly north toward the gate leading intothe alleys.

Either fly above the gate into the roombeyond or wait for the guard to openthe gate for Sofia and follow her in.

Keep following Sofia, noting all thesecurity in the alleys. You have to getpast all of it later.

Run back down the alley, careful toavoid the security scanner.

Continue through the gate before itcloses.

Wait at the corner and look around itto the left. You see a couple of securityguards up ahead. The one by the trash bin turns toward you and awayfrom you. The second guard patrolsup and down the alley.

Wait until the patrolling guard is walking away and the other guard isnot looking in your direction. Thenadvance toward the trash bin.

Head down the alley the last guardwas patrolling. Up ahead you see asecurity scanner. This cannot be disabled, so move around it. Hide inthe alley to the left until the scannerhas passed by.

Once past the scanner, continue tothe front entrance, where there isonly a single guard.

When his back is turned, sneakbehind him and drop him. Don’t forgetto pick up the health pack on the wall.

Find the red button on the right andpress it. This opens the second gatenear the camera you disabled. It staysopen for only about 15 seconds.Watch the security scanner and timeyour press of the button to make sureyou get past the scanner quickly.

When the guard walks away, move tothe wall across the alley so you arenext to the corner where the guardwalks past on his patrol, across fromthe camera. As he passes you, movein behind and grab him or knock him out.

Take him back to the stairs where youleft the third guard and knock out yournew target—or carry the body here ifyou knocked him out earlier.

Now head back around the cornerand disable the camera with yourEWG. This gate by the camera isopened by a control at the front gateto the area where Sofia first entered.You must get to that control.

Now head back down the stairs. Turnright and advance to the stairway onyour right. Another guard is at the top,facing away from you. You need tolure him toward you. Fire a distractingdart at the wall across from the stairs.

Hug the wall at the back of the stairsand wait for the guard to investigate.

As with the last guard, swing outaround the corner and neutralize him.Leave the body here for now.

Advance to the corner and lookaround. On the wall to your immediateleft is a security camera. A guardpatrols the alleyway to the right.

If Ethan can plant abug on it, Luther can searchthrough the data to find out howSofia is involved in the Los Muertosaffair as well as what she may haveplanned for the future. Besides theguards, Ethan must be careful ofseveral security cameras—somewith long fields of view—as well asa security scanner that cannot bedisabled.

One guard and a security camerablock your way into the building.Climb up onto this crate and thenmove behind the others.

From this position, you can see theguard. The minimap shows you wherethe camera is facing and its field of view.

Wait until the guard walks from thedoor and the camera is looking in thatdirection as well. Then make yourway to the door. Use the ELP to openthe door and complete the level.

Hide alongside it and wait again forboth guards to be facing away.

That’s your cue to use the Micro Cordto grapple up onto the pipe and thenquickly shimmy over the walkway.Drop down.

Move to the corner and hug the wall.

When the guard walks past you, pressAttack. Ethan swings around andtakes out the guard.

Carry the body around the corner todrop it off under the pipe and get itout of sight.

Now make your way through the tunnel.Use caution as it turns to the right.

Time your movement to get past asecurity scanner in one corner of thetunnel. When you reach the end of thetunnel, stay there for a bit.

A security camera is straight ahead.Use the EWG to disable it.

Now peek around the corner to yourright and watch for a guard patrollingthe upper walkway. When he movesaway, run across the courtyard andthen to the corner on your right. Usethe RCV to look through the camerayou just disabled and see when theguard begins to walk away again.

When he starts heading for thealarms, sneak up behind him and grab him.

Use him to unlock the palm securitypanel and open the gate. Then pullhim around to the other side of thetrash bin and knock him out.

Hide with the body until a guard frominside the gate comes out to see whyit is open.

When he heads back into the tunnel,sneak up behind him and take him out.

As soon as the guard begins walkingaway, move out from behind thecrates. To your left you see a securitycamera.

Pull out the EWG and disable thecamera. You need to move around herewithout worrying about it seeing you.

Now hide in the shadows behind thecrates along the wall on the right.

Wait for the security guard to walkover to the alarm control box. He onlydoes this on every other cycle of his patrol.

Make your way across the area, stay-ing along the hedges to your right.Continue toward the guard shack.

A guard patrols in and out of a tunnel.When he goes in, move into the shadows behind the guard shack andwait for him to come out.

This is your chance to grab him. Pullhim back into the shadows and knockhim out.

Now head into the tunnel and wait atthe corner. Watch the guard by the

It is a good idea to take out enemiesas you advance to your objectives,but hide the bodies in shadowyalcoves and corners. As usual, takesome time to observe a situationbefore rushing to action. Nothing ismore frustrating than sneaking upbehind an enemy just as anotherenemy comes around a corner onhis patrol rounds and catches youred-handed. Watch a couple ofpatrol cycles before moving in.

Initial Objective• Search Berkut’s computer

and learn about his plans for Sofia.

Ethan begins near the back door tothe Information Ministry. The corridorahead looks clear.

Move forward to the intersection andtake a left. Watch out for the twolaser scanners that protect this area.

As soon as you turn the corner, usethe EWG to disable a camera aheadof you.

Wait for the guard on this side to walkaway, then sneak up behind him andtake him out.

Leave the body and make your way tothe double doors leading into theMinistry of Information to completethe level.

Inside theMinistry

Briefing

Ethan needs to get to Berkut’s computer.

Ethan is now inside the ministrybuilding. You can expect lots ofguards as well as security cameras.The key to completing your objec-tives here is stealth. You can turnoff an alarm at one of the controlboxes, but often more guards cometo investigate. It is important toavoid setting off alarms at all.

From the balcony, look across thearea to another balcony and you see Sofia.

Pull out the binoculars and zoom in on Sofia.

New Objective• Infiltrate the Yugarian

Information Ministry.

When the conversation is over andyou receive a new objective, climbdown the ladder and head across the area.

When he walks away, head towardthe car. Crouch down and hide in theshadows to the right of the car.

Wait for the guard to come towardyou. When he turns around, followand grab him. Then take him straightahead into the alcove and knock himout where the other guard to your leftcannot see the body.

TIPIf the other guard seesyou, he activates thealarm and then comesafter you. Take him out,even if you have to use atranq dart, then deactivatethe alarm.

Climb the ladder to the balcony on theright side of the area.

Continue down the hallway. Stopbefore you get to the intersection andpeek around to the right. Cross to the door straight down the hall andenter the dark room.

Once inside the room, you see Berkutand another person enter and talkabout dealing with Sofia.

When they leave, enter Berkut’s officeand access his computer. Lutherneeds more information.

Then move in and knock him out.

Now open the door and take out thecamera in the hallway.

Return for the guard’s body and pick itup. Carry it out into the hallway andhide it in one of the shadowy alcoves.

Move right up to the next door andactivate the sonic imager. Wait untilyou see a guard walk away from you.

With the camera down, head throughthe door on your right, across fromthe camera. This room is empty, butmove quietly, because the next roomis not.

When his back is turned, hit the guardwith a tranq dart. Hide the body in ashadowy alcove.

Now move forward to the green dooron the right. Use the sonic imager tolocate the guard inside. When heturns away, enter the room and takehim down before he hits the alarm.

Move over to the large vault door andhack the security console on the wall.

Enter the vault and then stop. Activateyour night vision goggles to see alaser tripwire grid all over.

When he is closest to you, with hisback turned, and the guard in thelarger room straight ahead has movedoff to the left, sneak up and grab theclosest guard.

Move him behind the corner andknock him out in one of the shadowyalcoves.

If you enter the barracks roomsthrough the doors on the left side ofthe corridor, you find a health pack inaddition to the one between the twogreen doors.

This next guard can be kind of trickyto get. Use distraction darts to lurehim toward you—but not to where hecan see you.

When the guard comes back andpasses to the right, head through thedoor again and sneak up behind theguard. Grab him for now.

Head toward the corridor with thecamera, but wait around the corner.Watch the guards at the other end.When they are all looking away, crossto the other side and knock out theguard so his body falls into a shadowyalcove.

Now make your way across the corri-dor without being seen and hide in theshadowy alcoves on the left side.Slowly make your way forward fromalcove to alcove until you get close tothis patrolling guard.

New Objective• Access the ministry

mainframe and transmit registry info to Luther.

You need to move further into the ministry. Stand by the door to the sideof the computer and use the sonicimager to see what is on the otherside. Look for a guard who walks tothe right, and then heads back arounda corner to the left.

When the guard heads left, movethrough the door and forward. Get thedart gun ready and then disable thecamera in the corridor to the left.Quickly return to Berkut’s office anduse the sonic imager to watch thepatrolling guard.

Tip:You should have a WASPavailable. If so, open thedoor from Berkut’soffice, then hide by thefile cabinet. Send aWASP through the doorand down the corridortowards the objective.You can use the WASP toscout out the oppositionand observe the patrolsof the guards. However,don’t stun any of theguards. The camera willsee the body and soundan alarm.

Backtrack through the ministry, dealing with any guards you findalong the way.

Continue all the way to the doorsthrough which you entered the building. As you move to the doors,the level ends.

The Cathedral

Briefing

Ethan has to protect Sofia—but hecan’t get to her.

This mission requires you to domost of your actions from a dis-tance. You cannot get directly toSofia, so you must use the WASP, aswell as your newly acquired sniperpistol. The key to saving Sofia isaccuracy—both in shooting and inflying the WASP. If you rush, youare likely to make mistakes. But ifyou take too long, the thugs getSofia. It takes a fine balance tokeep her safe.

When the room is clear again, lowerEthan to the computer. Then swingback and forth to get to the terminaland press Use to access it.

New Objective• Exit the Information

Ministry back through the entrance.

Turn and face away from the computerand rise up a bit. Begin swinging backand forth. Press Jump at the end of aswing so Ethan lands past the lasertripwires. If he misses and sets off thealarm, rush over to the alarm controlby the vault door and shut it off. Thenuse the security console to open thevault so you can exit.

As you exit the room leading to thevault, take out a weapon—the IP 45 oryour tranq dart gun. Take out the sol-dier with the metal detector in thenext room.

Drop down at the wall and then usethe laser cutter on another controlbox to shut down the laser grid overthe computer terminal.

Climb up on the computer servers andmake your way to the terminal. Youcannot access it like this.

Instead, fire the Micro Cord up at thehook on the ceiling and rise.

Quickly press Aim to rotate to a horizontal position and then rise allthe way to the top. Berkut and hissubordinate enter the room and talk.Just keep hanging until they leave.

Climbing up and over the boxes is theonly way to advance.

Continue along the boxes to a control box.

Use the laser cutter to disable someof the laser grid.

The laser grid on the floor near youhas been deactivated, but the com-puter terminal is still surrounded bylaser tripwires.

Use the Micro Cord to get up to one ofthe pipes above the laser grid andshimmy across to the opposite wall.

Sofia hides behind some crates to theright side of the area. Scan the areain 2x zoom until you see a thug.

Then go to 8x zoom and take him outwith a head shot.

Quickly launch a fourth WASP and follow Sofia. Another thug comes inbehind her. Take him out before helays a finger on Sofia.

Sofia has reached the area in front ofyou. This is time to use the sniper pistol.Look to your left and you find moreammo for the sniper pistol. Don’t pickit up until you take out at least two setsof thugs. That will allow you to maxi-mize your ammo for the next phase.

Start by launching a WASP. Fly it tothe left and over these gates. It is atight fit, but you can make it withpractice.

Take a left at the first corner, thenanother left after the alleyway. Lookfor this green rubbish bin and headtoward it.

Alternatively, use the IP 45 pistol atcloser range.

Just don’t take too long! Sofia can’thold on for much longer.

Find the beam hanging from the craneabove. Take out your Micro Cord andgrapple up toward the beam.

Ethan swings and grabs hold of Sofiabefore she falls, saving her life.

It appears that Sofia finally trusts you!

You must stop those thugs from gettingto Sofia or the mission ends in failure. Even just hitting them when they arenext to Sofia gets them to turn on you.

As Sofia continues to try to escape,she falls off the side of the scaffoldingand holds on to the edge precariously.

You must get to the grassy areabelow. Turn right and head for thestairs leading down.

When you get to the stairs, threethugs are headed your way. Takethem out with the sniper pistol at long range.

Again, thugs come after Sofia. Thefirst appears in a doorway on a levelabove her. Drop him.

More than one at a time comes at her,so shoot quickly but accurately. Go forthe body shot if you have to. Thatoften stops the thug, who then beginsshooting at you. This gives you time tohit him once or twice more to take himdown—and keep him away from Sofia.

Sofia climbs to a higher level. Keep aneye on her.

Watch out for more thugs to comeafter her from various levels of thescaffolding around the cathedral.

After you dispatch three thugs, Sofiamoves to the left side of the area to hide.

Take out three more thugs. Watch forthugs approaching from your directionas well as from behind Sofia.

After three more thugs go down, Sofiamoves forward and to your right. Threemore thugs come out for you to take out.

When the area is clear, Sofia runs upthe stairs toward you. She thinks your athug and runs away. Your access to heris blocked again, but she is still in danger.

Get ready to snipe.

Now exit through the door and crossthe hallway to another door. Open itand enter the next room. A guard withhis back to you starts walking away.

Follow him around, and then grab him.Along the way, pick up ammo for theIP 45 from a table.

Take the guard into the first room,face him toward a gap between atable and some crates, and knock him out.

Head for the other door and open it,but don’t exit just yet.

Luther tells you about a trapdoor onthe roof that can allow you to enterthe prison building. Climb the crates inthe corner to the roof.

Move across the roof of the garage,climb onto the prison roof, and findthe trapdoor. Drop through it into theroom below.

On your minimap, you see a cameraaround a corner on the right side ofthe room. Use the EWG to disable it.

Hack the computer console to accessthe security cameras. Use the RemoteCamera Viewer gadget to check outthe rooms ahead of you. In one view,Jasmine and Spelvin talk to a guard.

Once he is down, hide the body, eitherin the garage or by the crates alongthe far wall.

Now take photos of the crates by thegarage as well as those by the far wall.

Head around to the corner of the yardon the side of the garage.

Here you find the fourth set of cratesyou need to photograph for Luther.

New Objective• Hack the prison computers

and place forgedcredentials for Jasmine and Spelvin.

Next, deal with that security camera.From the shadows of the garage, disable it with the EWG.

At a distance, watch the guard whopatrols the yard. When he walks tothe left along the back wall, sneak upbehind the guard standing next to thetruck with his back to you. Grab him.

Pull the guard into the shadows of thegarage and knock him out.

Now deal with the second guard. Youcan try sneaking up behind him, oryou can use one of your tranq darts toknock him out from a distance.

The PrisonerIntake Area

Briefing

Berkut leads Jasmine and Spelvinthrough the prisoner intake area. Nowyou have to get through.

This level is rather small. You faceonly four guards total, two at atime. The timing can be tough,however. The first two you can takeout silently, one at a time. Theother two are tougher. You have tothink on your feet. If you’re quick,you can get through this level evenif the second two guards set off the alarm.

Initial Objective• Navigate through prisoner

processing and enter the communications tower.

Ethan begins up against a pillar. Twoguards are in this room. One stays inthe same spot facing the center of theroom; the other patrols around.

Access the computer terminal on theright side to insert credentials forJasmine and Spelvin.

New Objective• Follow Jasmine and Spelvin

deeper into the prison.

Berkut shows up and leads Jasmineand Spelvin into the prison interior.Follow them.

Exit through the door you used toenter this area, then turn left and head through the now-open double doors.

Wait outside the door for the guard toenter the room closest to you.

When his back is turned, sneakbehind him and grab him.

Lead him over to this computer consoleand knock him out.

With the guard taken care of,advance into the next room. Staycrouched down so the guard inthe lobby can’t see you through the windows.

Just to your right is a security camera. Use the EWG to disable it.

Now cross the lobby area to the dooron the other side.

You need to hack the security consoleon the wall to unlock the door.

Inside, along the right wall, is a security camera. When the guard inthese rooms is not looking, disable the camera.

Switch to a tranq dart and wait for theguard on the right to come out to look.Shoot him, and then sidestep to theleft before he can shoot you.

Get ready to shoot another tranq dartat the guard in the control room, whocomes out to investigate.

If you want to save a dart for later,use the IP 45 to eliminate the second guard.

TIPIf the first guard gets offa shot at you before thetranq dart knocks himout, the guard in the control room goes for thealarm. Don’t worry. Takehim out by shootingthrough the gate with theweapon of your choice,then cut through the gateto reach the alarm controland shut it down. Or runback out and into the firstroom to shut off thealarm there.

Lead the guard back into the shadowsand then knock him out.

The room is now clear. Head to thelocked gate.

Rather than drag a guard over here tounlock the gate with his palm, use thelaser cutter to cut right through thegate’s lock.

This next part is tricky. You cannot seethem, but at the end of the hall is oneguard on the right, facing left. A secondguard is in the control room to the left.Fire a distraction dart to the right ofthe door.

When Ethan gets right behind him,press Attack to take the guard outwith a single, silent blow.

Now move up behind the standingguard and grab him.

Crouch down and move forward pastthe stationary guard while the otherguard is on the other side of the room,walking away from you.

Cross to the shadowy area to the rightof the standing guard and wait for thepatrolling guard to come back.

The patrolling guard walks towardwhere Ethan started off. Followbehind him.

Across the room is an automated turret. Stay next to the wall and itdoes not activate. Activate your nightvision and you see that a laser gridcovers the tower’s dirt floor.

Face the wall and jump up to grabonto a ledge running around the sideof the tower. Shimmy along this ledgeto your left until you get to anotherplatform, then drop down.

Along the wall is a yellow controlpanel with black wires. Move next toit and use the laser cutter to shut itdown. This clears the ground floor ofthe laser grid. Also, pick up someammo for the IP 45 pistol here.

Take out the turret or it kills you asyou move across the floor of thetower. One way is to push the explosive barrel next to the turret.

Ethan begins the mission near the topof the tower. Everything looks okay,but don’t move.

Activate your night vision to see lasertripwires up ahead. Crouch down andmove through the doorway, stayingunder the first laser.

Walk out onto the ledge around theinside of the tower and continue left.

Take the ladder down to the nextlevel. Then move on this ledge toanother ladder and take it all the waydown to the ground level. While goingdown the second ladder, you need totime it so as to avoid the moving lasergrids. Use the ladder slide techniqueto quickly descend the ladder andavoid the lasers.

TheCommunicationsTower

Briefing

You have to get through several types of laser tripwire grids while inthe tower.

This level is very involved and challenging. It has no guards orsecurity cameras, but lots of lasertripwire grids and automated gunturrets. At least you can knock outguards. Luckily, there are severalcheckpoints, so if you make a mis-take you don’t have to go back toofar in the mission to try again.

When dealing with laser tripwires,patience and timing are your besttactics. Switch back and forthbetween regular and night visionviews. The night vision allows youto see the lasers; regular viewallows you to see details and everything else. Don’t forget to useyour binoculars in scanning mode.This illuminates control panels andtells you what they do. If you everget stuck, start looking for thesetypes of devices for solutions.

Initial Objective• Hack the communications

array housed at the top of this tower.

Use the laser cutter to get through thelocked gate.

Pick up the health pack along theback wall.

Push this blue button near a monitorshowing the double doors. Thisunlocks these doors.

Walk over to the doors and open themto complete the level.

Climb onto the crates and movetoward the center of the tower on thehighest crate.

TIPTo destroy a couple of turrets before they activate, take out yourpistol while standing ontop of the highest crate.Locate the two turrets onthe level above and fire atthe barrels next to them.The barrel next to the leftturret is easy to see. Thebarrel next to the rightturret is lying down to theleft of the turret. Fire acouple times in this generalarea and you hit it.

Jump up to grab hold of the ledge andthen shimmy to the left, past a coupleof turrets.

When you get to a point in front of acontrol panel, push up to climb ontothe platform. Hide behind a pillar asthe turrets begin to fire. You can shutdown the turrets for 30 seconds byactivating a diagnostic sequence withthe panel on the pillar. Then hack alaser control panel to your left to shutoff a laser near a pipe.

While watching out for a set of movinglasers, make your way around theledge to a control panel on a pillar.Hacking this disables that moving setof lasers.

Above is a hook. Use the Micro Cordto grapple up to it.\

Have Ethan flip so he is lying horizontal,and then rotate so he is facing theplatform containing several crates.Rock back and forth, then releaseonce Ethan is over the platform.

Move to the center of the room andclimb onto the crates stacked there.

Take out the Micro Cord and aim at apipe. Fire to send Ethan shooting up tothe pipe.

Raise Ethan’s legs to avoid a sweepinglaser as he crawls along the pipe to aledge on the side of the tower.

Activate your night vision and noticethe laser grid to your right. On theother side is a control panel.

Hug the wall to get through the gap inthe laser grid.

Now hack the control on the wall toshut down the rest of this grid.

Then step back and shoot at the barrel with your pistol to take out the turret.

Another way is to jump up on theledge and shimmy over to the turret.

Drop behind the turret and use thelaser cutter to slice through thepower panel, thus disabling the turret.You face more turrets later, so look forone of these ways to take them out.

Now move across the floor to the wallopposite the turret to locate a controlpanel. Hack this to shut down a lasergrid that sweeps back and forthabove you.

NOTETurrets can be temporarilydisabled. Locate a turretcontrol panel and activatethe diagnostic for theturret. This will shutdown the turret for 30seconds—giving you timeto get past it or to disable it permanently.

TIPTo completely disable theturrets, take this detour.Move back along the ledgepast the pipe. Drop to theledge below. A turret willstart to power up. Hidebehind a pillar while itfires. While it is coolingdown, shoot the explosivebarrel next to it. Movealong the ledge until youlocate a turret controlpanel. Hack it to shutdown all turrets in thetower. Use the Micro Cord tograpple back up to the pipeand shimmy to the ledgeabove where you began thedetour. You can now skipall the following stepsdealing with taking care ofturrets. Now you just have to worry about thelaser grids.

While you’re here, press the elevatorcontrol panel to lower the mainte-nance elevator. This allows you toaccess the top of the tower.

Head back across the pipes and hackthe control panel on the wall to deac-tivate more laser grids. Turn left andhead along the platform until you seea hook overhead. Use the Micro Cordto grapple to the top.

Flip Ethan so he is horizontal and thenrock back and forth until you canaccess the large control panel on thewall. This shuts down the remainderof the laser grids.

Lower yourself back down to the platform. Then walk back out to themiddle of the wooden boards.

Pull up your legs and crawl along thepipe to the other side of the tower.

Drop from the pipe through anothergap in the laser grid.

A turret starts firing so take coverbehind the nearest pillar.

During the cooldown, run across tothe next pillar and activate the diagnostic for the turret.

Quickly, but carefully, make your wayacross the wooden boards to the turretpower supply. Disable it with yourlaser cutter to deactivate the turret.

During its cooldown, run to the nextpillar on the left. There you find adiagnostic control. Hack it to shutdown the turret temporarily.

Then hug the wall and move along thenarrow ledge to the turret and disablethe power supply with your laser cutter.

Hug the wall again and return to thewider platform. Continue along andclimb the ladder to the next level up.

At the top of the ladder, activate yournight vision again and look up. Yousee a small gap in the laser grid rightbelow a pipe. Use the Micro Cord tograpple your way up to the pipe.

Go back to the pillar and run the diag-nostic again. During this break in theturrets’ firing, run along the platformto the power supply and disable itwith the laser cutter. Then run back tothe diagnostic control before the timerruns out.

Run the diagnostic again and thenquickly jump up onto the pipe andshimmy across to the second turret.

Disable the power supply of this turretand then grab some nearby ammo foryour pistol.

Shimmy back across the pipe andthen turn left on the ledge. Drop to theledge below. Quickly hide behind apillar while a turret fires away.

Luther opens a way out of the towerfor you. Locate the hook near theopening in the roof and grapple up toit with the Micro Cord.

Ethan rises up and out of the tower,ready for the next level.

SolitaryConfinement

Briefing

Ethan slides down from the top of thetower to the rooftop overlooking theprison yard.

Compared to the last level, this oneis fairly straightforward. You facefour guards and four security cameras. Did we mention the automated gun turret? As always, a methodical approach gets youthrough without a scratch. Observethe guards’ patrols, note the location of the cameras, and dealwith each in turn. Also look forsome health packs and pistolammo. You never know when youmight need them.

here comes up from the bottom andpasses almost all the way to the trapdoor. You need to raise Ethaneach time it comes up. Then follow itdown and start rocking to access thecontrols. You can usually do onepanel per cycle before having to riseup and avoid the lasers.

The third trapdoor has three controlpanels. This time, the laser grid consistsof two parallel lasers. Ethan can stayhorizontal and at the level of the con-trols, but he must rotate to fit betweenthe rising lasers. Once all the controlsare hacked, rise up through the trap-door and swing over to the floor.

New Objective• Rig the ICE WORM

computer with explosives to detonate while leaving Sansara.

Climb the steps back up to the com-munications array and press Use toplace the explosives.

New Objective• Exit the tower.

Climb back down and move to one ofthe maintenance terminals, on theright side by itself. Hack it to open thetrapdoor. Then use the Micro Cord tograpple the hook above the trapdoorand lower yourself.

Flip horizontal and then get down tothe level of the consoles you need tohack. On this side, laser grids comefrom the top and bottom, sandwichingEthan. As long as he is at the level ofthe consoles, he’s fine. Rock him backand forth and then press Use when heis close to each console. Once bothhave been hacked, the laser grids disappear.

Rise up from the trapdoor. Rock backand forth and, when Ethan is over thefloor, release so he does not fall backdown through the trapdoor.

Repeat the process with the nexttrapdoor. This time Ethan must accessfour control panels. The laser grid

Leave the body where it lies and headback into the shack to grab a healthpack. Take up a position next to the doorso you can also see out the window.

When the guard patrolling this areawalks past from left to right and thenaway, move out the door.

Have your EWG ready and disable the camera through the fence and toyour left.

Continue forward to where the walk-way divides in two. Take up a positionhugging the wall with the corner toyour right.

When the guard heads back your wayand reaches the corner, swing outand take him down with a single strike.

Now use the EWG to disable the camera in the middle of the yard toyour left. You can hit it while remainingcrouched down on the rooftop.

Use the RCV gadget to view the feedfrom the camera you just disabled.Watch for the guard closest to thecamera to walk to the left, away from you.

This is your chance to climb down theladder into the guard shack.

Move over to the gate and hug thewall. As soon as the guard returns,swing around to take him out. Beready to follow up with hand-to-handattacks if you miss with the first strike.

Get a tranq dart ready and watch theguard who patrols the rooftop directlyahead of you. Wait for him to walk tothe left, back to the right, and thenaway from you. While he is walkingaway, fire the tranq dart and thenquickly sidestep to the left so he cannotsee you. Shoot at the right time or thebody may fall to the ground below. Ifother guards see it, they raise an alarm.

Pick up the guard’s body and carry itto the security panel on the gate. Usehis palm to unlock the gate.

While the turret cools down again,run right past it to the power supplyand disable it with the laser cutter.

With this area clear, walk over to thesecurity panel and hack it to open the gate.

Move forward to the wall and peekaround it. You see a security cameracovering this walkway.

As the camera pans away from you,step around the corner and disable itwith a dart.

Then head around the other way topick up some pistol ammo.

Make your way to the other guardshack at the opposite end of the area.

Continue on through the gate, butmake sure you are crouched down.

An automated gun turret covers thisarea. Hide behind the low wall by thedoor while it fires.

During its brief cooldown, run to yourright to take cover behind another low wall.

Once inside the room, move to the leftof the door and activate your nightvision. Clearing this room is easy,because the guards come to you.

The first guard comes down to thestairs to the right. Get in and take himout quietly and then carry the bodyaway from the stairs.

Carry the body back down the cellblock and then into the supply room.Dump him in the shadows.

Now head over to the circuit boxacross from the supply room. Hackthe controls to shut off all the lights.Then return to the supply room to wait.

Another guard comes over to the circuit box to see what is wrong.

Sneak up behind and grab this guard.He is the one who can get you intothe data center.

Lead the guard back through the cellblock. Don’t sneak past the prisonersthis time; no one is around to hear them.

You must now get past two prisoners;one is on the right and the other is onthe left. Wait for the prisoner on theright to walk away, then peek aroundthe corner to the left. When neitherprisoner is looking, continue past them.

Stay along the left side of the cellblock. You eventually approach thesecurity camera at the end of theblock. Disable it with a dart.

A guard is around the corner to theleft. Fire a distraction dart near thealarm control panel on the wall. Theguard moves toward the wall.

Quickly move in and take out theguard. You do not need this one to beconscious. Just make sure he neverreaches the alarm control.

Ethan must neutralize the neurodioxinsbeing created in this secret lab.

This mission requires you toaccomplish several tasks. In additionto stealth and hand-to-hand combat,you also have to be handy withyour pistol to get through this levelalive. First, get the kit left behindby Spelvin and Jasmine. Then use aWASP to locate and neutralizeBerkut. Then, while disguised asBerkut, Ethan infiltrates the biolaband renders the neurodioxinsharmless. Finally, he plants explosives and gets Dr. Ivanescuout of the area.

Initial Objective• Obtain the kit planted by

your IMF team.

Ethan continues up the stairs from thecell block to the area where the bio-lab is located.

With your new objective, head out ofthe data center. Press the button bythe door to open it.

Continue through the cell block to theend where the first guard was standing.A control panel is on the left wall,across from the alarm controls. Pressit and then quickly turn around.

The wall opens to reveal a secretentrance. A single guard is standingthere. Rush him and take him out witha hand-to-hand combo attack.

Lead him out of the booth and then onto the door to the right. Use his palmto unlock it.

Then take him back to the securitybooth and knock him out in a corner.Pick up the pistol ammo and healthpack while you are in here.

Enter the first lab and continuethrough the door into the second.

In the second lab, a guard tells you heis patrolling. Follow him out the doorinto the first lab and then out into thepassageway leading toward the security booth.

Once the WASP self-destructs aftertaking out Berkut, regain control ofEthan, who is now in his Berkut disguise.

Head across the courtyard to the doorleading into the biolab. In disguise,Ethan can move past any guards orscientists without being identified.The guards sound an alarm only if hedoes something suspicious.

At the security booth, the guardbuzzes you into the next area.

The biolab requires a palm print to getthrough the security lock, so get theguard in the security booth. Aftermoving through the now-unlockeddoor, go through the door to your leftand grab the guard.

To the left of the door you see anotheropen vent. Fly through it.

Now follow the hallway around untilyou see a third open vent and enterthe duct.

You emerge in a control room whereyou see Berkut talking to Algo.

Fly behind Berkut and, when in range,fire the taser charge to take him out.

Continue all the way around until youreach this kit, waiting in a corner.

Berkut using the WASP gadget.

While hiding in the shadows, take outa WASP and activate it. Send it flyingalong the wall on the right. Past theboarded-up window, you see an open vent.

Carefully pilot the WASP into the ventand follow the ventilation shaft around.

The WASP eventually emerges in oneof the laboratories. Fly it across to theother side of the room.

The situation gets hairy quickly now.The alarm has sounded and guardsare headed your way. Ethan is nolonger in disguise, so be ready tofight. The first guard comes out of thedoor on the right from the securitybooth. If you act quickly, you can takehim out with a hand-to-hand attack.Enter the security booth and pick uppistol ammo and a health pack. Youdefinitely need both.

Be ready to shoot the next two orthree guards who come in to get you.

Make your way through the labs,planting explosives on each of thevats. You usually run into two or threeguards in each room. Try to take themout from the doorway, using the wallsfor cover. Then rush in, plant theexplosives, and get ready for moreguards. Plan on two guards showingup for each time you plant an explosive.

Watch their patrols and wait until oneis walking away while you are behindthe other. Use the single strike to takeout one and then run and neutralizethe other guard before he has a chanceto see the body and react. Then takecare of both vats in this room.

In the third lab, lure the scientist awayfrom the security booth window.While hiding around the corner, fire adistraction dart at the wall behind thescientist.

When he moves toward the wall, takehim out and leave the body by thedoor. Wait for the guard in the boothto look away and then inject the neu-tralizer into the last vat.

New Objective• Rescue Dr. Ivanescu.

Head back through the security boothto the room where Dr. Ivanescu iswaiting.

Using this device is considered suspi-cious, and you have to get throughthese labs later, so clear out eachone. In the first lab are a guard and ascientist. Get behind the guard. Whenthe scientist is not looking, take outthe guard with a single strike. Then goafter the scientist. Do not let anyonesound an alarm.

You have to repeat the following stepsfive times—once for each vat of neu-rodioxin. First, fill up the chemical gunat the blue neutralizer vat.

Then inject the neutralizer into theneurodioxin vats. You need to reloadthe gun with neutralizer each time.In the second room are two guards.

Once he is out of the lab, grab himand take him into the security booth toknock him out.

Return to the second lab and continuethrough a third lab and another security booth.

In the last room, Dr. Ivanescu tells youhow to neutralize the neurodioxin.

Head back to the first lab and pick upthe chemical gun on a table near awindow. You need this to take care ofthe neurodioxin.

Watch for a door along the rightside—the same one you used to enterthis area. Guards keep coming out ofthis door. Take them out as they exit.Continue taking out guards from thisdoor and the rooftops until it is all clear.

New Objective• Meet Dr. Ivanescu at thetop of the stairs.

Make your way up the stairs acrossfrom the biolab door. There you find adoor secured with a palm reader panel.

Wait for Dr. Ivanescu to come andunlock it for you, completing the level.

In the first lab along the wall at right,you find a health pack. Keep yourhealth up during this part of thelevel—you don’t want to die withunused health packs in your inventory.By now you should have plantedexplosives on all five vats.

New Objective• Clear the area of hostiles

for Ivanescu’s extraction.

Continue out of the biolab area and tothe door leading out into the courtyard.Here you have to take out severalenemy guards, including the ones onthe rooftops.

This level is another sniper shooter.From a ledge, you must snipe at allguards going after Jasmine. Lookfor explosive barrels to help takeout the guards with a bang. Try forhead shots, but if guards get closeto Jasmine, hit them wherever youcan. This makes them stop andstart shooting at you, giving youtime to make another shot andtake them down.

After the helicopter lands, keep covering Jasmine as she makes herway to the chopper.

She’s wounded, so Jasmine movesslowly. Stay alert to where the enemies are.

Once Billy takes off with Jasmine, youcan worry about yourself.

The guards at the steps below and toyour left are easy to miss, so lookthere, too.

Keep taking out the guards as theyshow up. Get a hit in on them to startwith, even if you can’t line up a headshot. Any hit usually gets them to stopshooting at Jasmine and start shootingat you. You can take it; Jasmine can’t.

Look for explosive barrels nearguards. One hit takes out the guard.Save these for when you have to dealwith more than one guard at a time.

Jasmine eventually makes it acrossthe courtyard and takes cover by thetruck below and to your right.

Initial Objective• Cover Jasmine’s escape

across the courtyard.

When the level begins, Ethan is in anarea containing supplies and weapons.Pick up the health pack on the wall.

Then pick up a box of ammo for thesniper pistol. There’s a second boxhere if you need more later.

Now run out onto the walkway over-looking the courtyard below.

Select the sniper pistol and aim at thestairway on the right. Take out the firstguard as he runs out the door.

Now help Jasmine get through alocked gate. You can’t get down thereand hack the lock, so take a shot atthe explosive barrels by the fence.

TIPReload after every kill, soyou always have enoughin the clip to take out thenext guard.

When the barrels explode, the gate isno more. Reload frequently.

Guards also appear on the walkwayacross the courtyard from you.

Keep scanning for guards. Watch forthem near the fenced area.

Then turn to your left and pick up themachine pistol on the computer console.

Get the machine pistol ready foraction, then exit the tower through the door.

Take a left and head up the stairstoward the door. As you approach, aguard opens it. Drop him with a burstfrom the machine pistol, then enterthe room.

Pick up another health pack on the wall.

This level continues where the lastlevel left off. Your objective is to tryto save Sofia, but you need to concentrate on survival. You haveaccess to a new weapon in thislevel—the FAAR-7 machine pistol.This allows you to put out a lot offirepower and take out your ene-mies quickly. But your foes also arearmed with automatic weapons,and take you out just as quickly ifyou’re not careful. Pick up as manyhealth packs as you can.

Initial Objective• Pursue Algo, if at all

possible, to save Sofia.

As the chopper flies away, turn toyour right and face the doorway. Aguard opens the door and comes for you.

Rather than pull out a weapon, runtoward the guard and take him outwith a hand-to-hand attack.

Enter the small room where the guardcame from and head down the ladderto the next level.

Billy flies in. He doesn’t have time toland, so use the Micro Cord to grappleup to the helicopter.

Once Ethan makes it to the chopper,the level is complete.

NOTEIf you cannot get to Billy’schopper on the first try,he has to leave, and youhave to clear the courtyardagain. If you need moreammo and another healthpack, head to the toweracross from the one inwhich you started thelevel. When Billy comes inagain, try to grapple thehelicopter with the MicroCord. If you fail, you haveonly one more chance,after facing another waveof guards. If you can’t getto the chopper on thethird attempt, the missionends in failure.

By now it is obvious that Sofia andAlgo are long gone. You need to getout. From the back of the kitchen,cover the door and take out aboutthree guards who come after you.

Make your break and exit the kitchen.

Head back through the gate to themain courtyard.

Stand along the wall to the right of thedoorway and shoot guards as theyenter. Keep an eye on your ammo. Youdon’t want to run out while a guard isin the room shooting at you.

After you take out at least four or fiveguards, exit the room, take a left, andmake your way through the gate youblasted open in the last mission.

Enter the kitchen, where you findmore ammo and another health pack.

New Objective• Clear the courtyard of

enemies for Billy and snag a ride on his helicopter with the Micro Cord.

Stock up on ammo. You’ll need it. Nowget out of this room before a couple ofguards spawn behind you.

TIPTry to move as quickly aspossible between rooms.It is safer to engage theguards from a corner of aroom, where you can take them on one at atime, than to risk beingsurrounded outside.

As you exit the room, head to the left,taking out the guard in front of you.Continue to the room on the left, runninginside before other guards show up.

In the second room, you find moreammo and another health pack.Reload your machine pistol and bringyour health back up to the maximum.

the plane for optimal jetpack approach.

The plane is early and Ethan is toohigh. Dive to lose altitude as quicklyas possible.

Stay in the checkpoints as you dive.As you get to the end of this stage,line Ethan up with the directional indicator.

TIPIt’s required only that you line up with the sec-ond directional indicator,but do your best to passthrough this checkpoint. Ifyou do, it’s a save point.If you fail the third andfinal stage, you can restartthe level here rather thanat the beginning of thefirst stage.

Ethan is now near the same altitudeas the plane, but behind it. Time toengage the jetpack.

To slow down, press Fire to flare. Youhave 5 minutes to complete this level,so don’t flare too much.

Use the left thumbstick to maneuverforward and back, and strafe left and right.

If the checkpoints get too far in frontof you, dive toward them and, whilestill pushing the thumbstick forward,flare. This causes Ethan to glidetoward the checkpoints.

Eventually you come across thisdirectional checkpoint. Luther warnsyou it is coming up before it is visible.Try to pass through it, and make sure Ethan is facing in the directionindicated.

until Algo’s plane comes into view.

• Board Algo’s plane. Engage your jetpack and fly into the back of Algo’s plane.

Ethan begins in a freefall. This firststage is easy and gives you a chanceto learn how to control Ethan.

You must dive down after anotherplane in mid-flight.

This level is unlike any other in thegame. You must freefall through aseries of checkpoints so that Ethanends up in position to board Algo’splane as it flies by. Luther has programmed the points and letsyou know when you are getting off course.

Try to pass through as many check-points as possible, but you’re usually fine as long as you stayclose. Don’t worry if you misssome. Two checkpoints indicate adirection. Make sure Ethan pointsin the correct direction as he nearsthese points, which set him up forthe next stage of the level.

You’re in pursuit of Algo’s

flying headquarters.The

plane likely represents the

last spot where Algo can

store the ICE WORM virus

and information on his illegal

weapons research.You must prevent his escape to Yugaria,

where he could go underground to restart his operations.

You’re to drop into position behind the plane and activate

your jetpack. It is not safe to deviate much from the flight path

shown on your avionics goggles.

After boarding the plane, find Sofia and get her out alive. As

for Algo and his flying fortress...both are worth bringing down.

TIPIf you need to move forwardto get back into thecheckpoints, tip Ethan forward so he is at a 45degree angle. At this anglehe has the best controland forward momentum.

Ethan has made it to the plane—butthat is just the beginning.

Aboard Algo’sPlane

Briefing

You have to get to Sofia and save her,then deal with Algo.

This level is tough. You use a mixture of shooting as well asstealth. The level comprises threesections—the cargo bay, the security system, and the forwardarea of the airplane. Ethan has toclear out the cargo bay and plantexplosives. Then he has to getthrough the security system. Finally, Ethan must fight his wayup to the bridge of the airplane and rescue Sofia.

diagonally to the other side. Fly upagain and diagonally down. If Ethantakes more than two hits, he is killedand the level is a failure.

As you get closer, Luther tells you tocut your jetpack. Don’t worry aboutwhich button to press. It happensautomatically. Just line Ethan up withthe new checkpoints and follow themto the plane.

Stay in the checkpoints. You don’thave to worry about rockets at thispoint; none are being fired.

The checkpoints lead you to the rearramp of the plane.

Fly toward the plane. You need atleast a minute of time remaining tohave a chance at this stage of thelevel. If you can get through the firststages in around 3 minutes, you have2 minutes, which is ample time.

Algo does not make boarding hisplane easy.

He has a rocket launcher and ordershis troops to shoot you down.

You must dodge these rockets whileyou continue flying toward Algo’splane. Instead of waiting for a rocketto get close and then dodging it, jinkup and down and left and right. Agood pattern is to get to one side of the screen, fly up, then down

After you neutralize all guards, headacross the fuselage of the plane topick up some ammo and a health pack.

Return to the computer terminal andaccess the controls for the cameras.This lets you see what the cameras inthe next area can see—and thuswhat you are up against.

Now move over to the panel next tothe door and press the button.

Ethan disguises his voice and foolsAlgo into thinking Ethan is dead. Thisshuts off the alarm and keeps anymore guards from coming down to get you.

Open the door and you see a guardwith his back to you. This area istough. You need timing and stealth tomake it work.

Then shimmy to the platform at the tail.

Plant the third and final explosive.

More guards enter the cargo bay. Usethe pistol rifle to take them out.

New Objective• Exit the cargo area. Luther

follows up with more information.

Now jump up onto the pipe andshimmy all the way to the end beforedropping. You take a bit of damage, soheal yourself before continuing.

Plant a second explosive, then headback down the ladder. Three moreguards await you, so take up positionin a forward corner again.

Use the sniper pistol again to clearout the cargo bay, then head down aladder to the main level.

Now head toward the rear of theplane. As you approach the ramp,look up to locate a pipe.

Use the Micro Cord to grapple up tothe pipe.

In this maintenance access area,plant an explosive by moving to anindicated spot on the wall and pressingUse. One down, two to go.

As you head down the ladder to thewalkway on the second level, threeguards rush into the cargo bay. Takeup a position in the corner toward thefront and bring out your sniper pistol.

If you stay crouched down, theguards can’t do much damage to you.Pick them off one at a time to clearthe area.

When the cargo bay is clear again,move across to the other side of theaircraft and climb a ladder to theother wing root.

Move to the other side of the areaand disable the camera with a dart.

Now pick up a guard and carry him tothe panel by the camera you just dis-abled. Use his palm to get through thelocked door.

Locate the cable that provides powerto the security system and slicethrough it with the laser cutter.

This alerts Algo to your presence, butit cannot be helped.

When all the guards in this area areeliminated, head for the locked dooron the forward right side. Hackthrough the lock and enter a smallpassageway.

Use the sonic imager on the next doorto watch a guard walking back and forth.

As the guard heads away from you tothe left, open the door and take himout silently.

Don’t go for the switch yet. Activateyour night vision, and you see that alaser grid protects it. Touching thisgrid sets off an alarm.

Now re-enter the small room andpress the switch on the wall to turnoff the lights. Ethan can hide unseenin the dark room.

Use the distraction darts to lure theguards toward you. Fire them at thefloor. It takes a few to lure the guardsto your darkened room.

Hug the wall on the right side of thedoorway, then take out the first guardas he approaches.

The second guard is usually closebehind. Use a hand-to-hand attack toneutralize him.

New Objectives• Deactivate the main

security system.• Search for Algo and Sofia

in the forward part of the airplane.

Start off by disabling the cameraacross the room.

Then move to the left behind the cornerand activate your RCV. Focus on thecamera that has not been disabled.Wait until the guard walking towardthe camera is almost there, thendeactivate the RCV.

This is your chance to sneak upbehind the closest guard and grab him.

Lead him back into the cargo bay andtake him out.

As Algo fires at you, Sofia hits Algoand knocks him out of the plane—buthe pulls her out, too. The problem:She does not have a parachute!

Jumping after Sofia

You must save Sofia.

This is another freefall level, butEthan has no jetpack or even aparachute. No problem—he cantake one from a guard who hasalready parachuted from the plane.Once you have a parachute, goafter Sofia. You have only 2 min-utes and 30 seconds to catch Sofia,or it is too late.

Exit the control room and make yourway to the now-unlocked door, openit, and enter.

You find a ladder to the third level.Climb it.

Advance through another controlroom, then head through the door tothe cockpit.

Algo grabs Sofia and holds herhostage.

Cross the office to the door leadingtoward the rear of the plane.

As you take out guards, continuedown a hallway, then through a dooron the right.

Take a right in the corridor and headaround to a door with an electroniclock. Pick it.

Enter a control room and clear it ofguards. On the wall is a health pack,which you probably need.

Run back to the room with the securitysystem, then hack the panel now thatthe laser grid is down. Guards areheaded your way, so get ready.

Have your machine pistol drawn asyou exit the security room. You needto engage and take out all the guardsAlgo sends after you. If needed, theside supply room contains moreammo as well as a health pack.

Fight your way up the stairs to thesecond level.

TIPOnce the alarm sounds,guards will keep comingtowards you, however, theywill stop spawning onceyou get to the controlroom on the second levelof the airplane

This is the last level of the gameand a real finale. Sofia heads intothe building and safety, so don’tworry about her. Your only objec-tive is to get Simon Algo. His typeusually doesn’t give up easily; heputs up a big fight. If you areexpecting a fair duel, mano a mano,you don’t know your villains. Hethrows his guards at you and has atrick up his sleeve—or should I sayon his sleeve.

Initial Objective• Defeat Simon Algo and

bring him to justice.

Ethan starts off behind an AC unit.This provides him some cover fromthe fire of Algo’s guards.

Staying behind cover, move to the leftso you can start engaging the guardswith the machine pistol.

Once you have stayed with her for 3seconds, the objective is complete.

Ethan grabs hold of Sofia and deployshis parachute.

Together, they descend safely after Algo.

The SurmaBuilding

Briefing

Ethan prepares to cover Sofia as sheheads for the building.

In a midair scuffle, Ethan succeeds intaking the enemy’s parachute...

...and putting it on himself.

Now dive for Sofia. Keep an eye onthe timer in the lower left corner to seehow much time you have remaining.

As you approach Sofia, flare to slowdown so you don’t dive past her.

Line up with the directional indicator.A ring appears, showing yourprogress. Stay in position for 3 sec-onds to catch Sofia. Flare to keepfrom falling past her.

You don’t have a lot of time, so divetoward the square on your display.That is the enemy whose parachuteyou need. The quicker you get to him,the more time you have to rescue Sofia.

Algo and his men don’t make thiseasy. They fire rockets up at you.Three hits and you’re a goner.

To avoid these rockets, spin around asyou dive so Ethan corkscrews as hedescends. This is often enough toavoid most, if not all, rockets.

As you near the enemy, flare a bit toslow down and put Ethan on top ofthe guy.

Look up and locate a pipe above you.Use the Micro Cord to grapple up tothis pipe.

Shimmy across the pipe to a platformwith a single door. Drop down and enter.

In this small room you find ammo forthe machine pistol as well as a healthpack. You need both, so pick them up.

Exit the room and Algo taunts you.

He also activates his secret weapon—a stealth suit. This makes him nearlyinvisible. You can see him when thelightning flashes and when he isshooting.

This time you also have to watch outfor guards on the upper walkway toyour right.

When it is all clear again, advanceforward past a walkway leading to adoor on the left all the way to a ladder.

Climb down the ladder into the pit area.

Watch for enemies near the railingwho try to take potshots at you.Eliminate them.

Move away from the ladder towardthe building and on to the right side.

Algo starts shooting at you again.Take cover behind the AC machineryand return fire.

Algo also has some guards shootingat you. For now, concentrate on Algo.If you have good cover, the guardscan’t hit you.

If you keep up the fire, eventually Algotakes enough hits to cause his stealthsuit to malfunction. He runs awaythrough a door.

Before you can go after him, you musttake out his guards. Use the sniperpistol for some head shots to clear thewalkways.

Head down the walkway to your right.

Then run down the stairs to therooftop.

Crouch down and take cover behindthis AC ductwork as Algo shoots at you.

Return fire with your machine pistol.Aim for Algo’s muzzle flashes and hithim as much as you can.

After he takes hits, Algo runs away.Head across this bridge to the left ofyou, then on to the right.

The large gears administer his finaljustice.

Having saved Sofia and defeatedAlgo, Ethan deserves a little rest—until the next mission, of course.

Keep firing at Algo as much as youcan. Watch your health meter andregularly use the health packs.

Once you have caused enough damageto Algo, his stealth suit short-circuitsand he falls off the walkway.

You find yourself in a room filled withgears. Move around along the walk-way and take a right.

Algo is on the walkway, one levelabove you. Strafe left and right toengage him with machine pistol fire.

Enter a stairwell behind you to go upa level and to pick up health packs onthe side walls.

Cross over another bridge, then ontoa walkway to the door through whichAlgo fled.

Watch out for more guards whoappear while you are moving. Takethem out.

As you go through a small passage-way leading to a large room, pick up ahealth pack and some ammo.
