Term 1 Week 2
6th February 2020
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Kicking off 2020!
The first full week back at school has been a very busy one! This
week Wiradjuri language lessons started up again for the year and
we welcome back Aunty Esther, who will be teaching language
with Mrs Galea (Kindergarten, Stage 1 and Stage 2) and Mr Murray
(Stage 3) on Thursdays. This year each class will have a 30-minute
Wiradjuri language lesson each fortnight and everyone is excited to
begin a new year of learning. Mrs Wright is in the process of
organising our 2020 Band Program, Mr Vogel’s science and
technology classes are underway, Mrs Oborn and Miss Storr’s library
lessons are in motion and Mr Garlick’s PE classes have been full
steam ahead! We are certainly back into the swing of things and it
is wonderful to see our classrooms full of happy, respectful students
who are highly engaged and ‘on task’ with their learning!
Kindergarten’s First Day!
On Monday we welcomed 49 brand new Kindergarten children for
their very first day at “big school”! A huge thank you to all our
Kinder parents for ensuring their children were prepared and
excited about beginning school! Mrs White, Miss Hamer and Mrs
McFarland have reported on a very settled start to the year and
are enjoying getting to know their new students. If you haven’t
checked out ‘Kindergarten’s First Day’ photos on Facebook yet, be
sure to take a look!
Parent Information Night
Tonight we will be holding a Parent Information Evening at the
school. This is a wonderful opportunity for all parents to come along
and meet their child’s teachers and find out some general
information about how classes are organised, homework
expectations, upcoming events and general school routines. The
timetable for this evening is as follows;
4:30-5:15pm – Kindergarten – please meet in the Infants
Open Space (Infants building)
5:30-6:00pm – Stage One – please meet in the Infants Open

On Wednesday, a large group of CPS staff
travelled to Forbes High School to participate in
the Next Gen Leadership Program running
across the Cowra Network this year. Miss Noble,
Mrs Montgomery and Miss Noal have been
identified as future aspiring school leaders and
will engage in a 12-month professional learning
program to build their skills in this area. Also
involved in this program are Mrs Johnson, Mrs
Oborn, Mr Murray and myself, who will be
taking on a mentoring role to aspiring young
leaders from other schools. This is a wonderful
opportunity for all staff involved and we look
forward to networking with our colleagues
throughout the Cowra area.
School Swimming Carnival
Preparations are well underway for our
school Swimming Carnival which will be held
next Thursday 13th February at the Cowra
Aquatic Centre. Please note that this event is
for ALL Primary students and those Year 2
swimmers who are turning 8 this year. Mr
Garlick has been working hard to get
everything ready to go for what is sure to be an
exciting and fun-filled day at the pool!
Permission notes have been sent home and
students are getting into the spirit with House
war cries being heard across the school.
Parents are encouraged to come along and
be part of the day…I wonder who will take out
the Teachers vs Parents relay this year?
Assemblies
In 2020, assemblies will take place every
fortnight starting tomorrow, Friday 7th February.
Assemblies will be held on Fridays with Primary
from 12:10pm-1:00pm and Infants from 2:25pm-
3:10pm. As per last year, at the end of each
term we will hold a special Whole School
Assembly. For updates and reminders, please
check our school Facebook page or website.
Hope to see you there.
Have a great week…

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PRIVACY AND CUSTODY ISSUES
At CSP we feel that that privacy/permission to publish photographs and access
to photos for separated families is an important issue and one that we wish to
address correctly.
Could you please notify us when providing data, if there are any students that
have restrictions in place preventing their photos being ordered by specific
parents.
We don’t need to know all details - just the name of the student and what
restrictions are in place for example: Tom Smith 4G - Dad (Tim Smith) is not to
order photos.
We receive emails or phone calls from parents requesting ‘lost’ shoot keys, if
we are made aware of a restriction we can prevent this information from being
given out.
Similarly, if students do not have permission for photographs to be published,
then they cannot appear in the group photo – which goes home as part of the
photo package. We need to remove them, or list as absent or just delete from
the group.
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Regards
Cliff and Kay Dykes
