If anyone thirsts, let him come to me; let him drink who believes in me

the most hard-hearted are thirsty for Jesus’ living water, whether or not they recognize it.

Once the Samaritan woman drank of Jesus’ living water, she couldn’t help but bring that water to others. Likewise, it’s up to us to give God’s thirsty people a drink of Jesus’ living water.

The Samaritan woman teaches us that when we drink fully of the water Jesus offers, we will start evangelizing. We’ll be so

filled with living water that we won’t be able to help it.

If we’re not evangeliz-ing, it’s likely a symptom that we’re getting spir-itually dehydrated. Jesus says: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me; let him drink who believes in Me. Scripture has it: ‘From within him rivers of living water shall flow’ “ (Jn 7:37-38).

Come to Jesus; drink deeply; tell the world about Him.

Bywa niejednokrotnie tak, że niewola zdaje się łatwiejsza i bardziej przy-jazna przez to, że jest os-wojona. Dzieje się tak dlat-ego, że tak w istocie było? Nie, wyzwania wolności i nowość wyzwań często zdają się ciężarem nie do uniesienia. Izraelici wędrujący pod wodzą Mojżesza z Egiptu do Ziemi Obiecanej musieli zmagać się z wyzwaniami, które były dla nich totalną nowością. W ich kontekście wspomnienie niewoli egipskiej stawało się czasem wręcz ideal-izowane. Jeszcze nie tu, w Refidim, ale później, na pustyni, będą wspominać Egipt jako miejsce pełne misek z jedzeniem. Kom-pletna wspomnieniowa fa-tamorgana, nieprawdziwa, ale chwytliwa, bo wolność na pustyni okazała się bolesnym ciężarem. Ciekawa rzecz, że bunt pod Refidim, spowo-dowany brakiem wody, miał miejsce krótko po wyjściu z Egiptu. Izraelici jeszcze nie doszli do Syn-aju, jeszcze nie otrzymali tablic z Dziesięciorgiem Przykazań, jeszcze się nie ukonstytuowali jako społeczność, a już mieli dość tego nowe-go położenia. Obóz w Refidim stał się mie-jscem spektakularnego cudu. Mojżesz uderzył w skałę ta samą laską, którą wyciągnął nad Morzem Czerwonym, by się rozstąpiło. Miejsce sporu o wodę i jej cu-downe wyprowadzenie ze skały zostało nazwane Massa i Meriba. Po he-brajsku pierwsza nazwa znaczy „kuszenie”, a dru-ga „kłótnia”. To miejsce kłótni na wieki trafiło do Biblii jako znak braku za-ufania człowieka do Boga. „Niech nie twardnieją wasze serca jak w Meriba, jak na pustyni w dniu Mas-sa, gdzie mnie kusili wasi ojcowie, doświadczali Mnie, choć widzieli moje dzieła”. Cud wody ze

skały, pokazał, że Bóg jest pośród nich. Choć nadal jakoś tęsknili za swoiście oswojoną krainą niewoli, mozolnie szli ku Ziemi Obiecanej, ucząc się trudnej wolności, która kosztuje i która stawia coraz to nowe wyzwania. Woda jest także tematem rozmowy Jezusa z kobietą samarytańską. Żyd prosi o wodę Samarytankę. Już zostały przekroczone nie-przekraczalne kulturowe granice, wyznaczone przez semickie narody. Prośba zamienia się w rozmowę. Jezus w odpow-iedzi wypowiada znami-enne słowa: „Każdy, kto pije tę wodę, znów będzie pragnął. Kto zaś będzie pił wodę, którą Ja mu dam, nie będzie pragnął na wieki…”. Któż z nas po takiej odpowiedzi nie wypowiedziałby tych samych słów co Samar-ytanka: „Daj mi tej wody, abym już nie pragnęła i nie przychodziła tu czerpać”. W jakimś sensie w prag-nieniu owej kobiety zawi-era się i nasze pragnienie Boga, On jest dla nas wypełnieniem wszystkich oczekiwań. Woda żywa to przecież sam Chrys-tus. Woda – symbol chr-ztu, obmycia, odrodzenia. Woda – symbol życia, w Chrystusie, na wieczność. Takie osobiste spotkanie, zabarwione mistyką, musi mieć miejsce i w naszym życiu. Bez osobistego spotkania Boga Żywego nasze chrześcijaństwo będzie tylko pustym zw-yczajem, martwą tradycją. A jeżeli fundamentem mojej wiary jest osobiste przyjęcie Chrystusa, to codzienność, nawet gdyby była najbardziej banalna, nigdy nie będzie zła ani smutna, bo przeżywana z Chrystusem zyskuje nowy sens. Chrystus jest znakiem nadziei i jako taki ukazał się Samarytance

Rekolekcje Wielkopostne

W tym roku nasze re-kolekcje wielkopostne w języku polskim odbędą się od 3 – 5 kwietnia. Wszystkie spotkania będą o godz. 7pm. Re-kolekcje wygłosi Ks. Łukasz Kachnowicz – student historii kościoła na Katolickim Uniwer-sytecie Lubelskim w Lu-blinie. Bardzo proszę o zaplanowanie sobie tych trzech wieczorów by można było uczestniczyć w tym ważnym przygo-towaniu do Świąt Wiel-kiej Nocy. Rekolekcje zakończymy spowiedzią przedświąteczną w ostat-nim dniu rekolekcji.

nictwa w nabożeństwach Drogi Krzyżowej, które są odprawiane w każdy piątek o godz. 7pm. Po każdej Drodze Krzyżowej wystawienie Najświętszego Sakra-mentu i chwila prywat-nej adoracji zakończona b ł o g o s ł a w i e ń s t w e m Eucharystycznym. W ramach naszego przygo-towania do Świąt Wielkiej Nocy będziemy również śpiewać Gorzkie Żale bezpośrednio po Mszach św. niedzielnych i w ra-mach tego nabożeństwa wysłuchamy rozważań pasyjnych. W czasie Wielkiego Postu Msze św. będą już bez kazania. Przypominam i zachęcam do powstrzymywania się od potraw mięsnych w każdy piątek Wielkiego Postu. W Wielki Piątek natomiast obowiązuje nas post zarówno jakościowy jak i ilościowy. Przeżyjmy ten święty czas w ścisłej łączności z Chrystusem cierpiącym i zróbmy do-bre postanowienia na ten święty czas. Niech on st-anie się dla nas upragnio-nym czasem zwycięstwa nad samym sobą, czasem zbawienia i czasem wyz-wolenia z najgroźniejszej, bo własnej woli. Jak mówi św. Leon Wielki: „nie na samym ograniczeniu pokarmów polega istota naszych postów. Na nic się zda głodzenie ciała, jeżeli duch nie wyrzeknie się wszelkiej nieprawości i niepohamowany język nie zaprzestanie oszcz-erstw”.

Nasza Schola Dziecięca zaprasza wszystkie te dzieci, które chciałyby wielbić Pana Boga swoim śpiewem i być częścią tej grupy dziecięcej. Dlatego serdeczne zaproszenie do rodziców by zachęcali swoje pociechy do udziału w naszej liturgii i do tego by ta grupa mogła się również stawać coraz lic-zniejsza. Bolesny ciężar wolności i żywa wiara

Uroczystość Zwiastowania Pańskiego

Uroczystość Zwias-towania Pańskiego przy-pada 25 marca i dzień ten ustanowiono – Dniem Świętości Życia. Powst-anie tej uroczystości łączy się z refleksją nad historią zbawienia w czasach chrześcijańskich. Wiele mówiącym fak-tem obchodzenia tej uroczystości może być zbudowana w IV wieku w Nazarecie bazylika Zwiastowania. Święto posiadało różne nazwy. Najstarsza z nich jest określeniem związanym z homilią Abrahama z Efezu – Euaggelismos. Liturgia bizantyjska zachowuje tę nazwę do dnia dzisiejszego. Powstaje pytanie dlac-zego uroczystość ta jest obchodzona 25 marca? Odpowiedź na to pytanie wynika z ustalenia daty uroczystości Bożego Narodzenia. Skoro uroczystość Narodzenia Pańskiego obchodzimy 25 grudnia to z „oblic-zenia biologicznego – 9 miesięcy” wynika, że Zwiastowanie Pańskie ma być obchodzone 25 marca. W tej uroczystości uwydatnia się rola Mar-yi, Jej przyjęcie z wielką wiarą Słowa Bożego i noszenie z miłością Je-zusa w niepokalanym łonie. Zwiastowanie Pańskie spełnia też obi-etnice dane narodowi wybranemu – Izraelowi. Uroczystość Zwiastow-ania Pańskiego łączy się w Polsce z obchodem Dnia Świętości Życia. W dniu w którym obchod-zimy pamiątkę zwias-towania przez Posłańca Bożego Maryi Pannie, że zostanie Matką Syna Bożego, bronić chcemy każdego poczętego życia pod sercem każdej z matek na całym świecie. „Życie ludzkie jest święte i nie naruszalne w każdej chwili swego istnienia, także w fa-zie początkowej, która

poprzedza narodziny. Człowiek już w łonie matki należy do Boga, bo Ten który wszystko przenika i zna, tworzy go i kształtuje swoimi rękoma, widzi go, gdy jest jeszcze małym, bezkształtnym embri-onem i potrafi w nim dostrzec dorosłego człowieka, którym stanie się w przyszłości i które-go dni już są policzone, a powołanie już zapisane w księdze żywota”( św. Jan Paweł II Evangelium Vitae).

It is well known how strong were the words used by the Fa-thers of the Church to describe the proper attitude of persons who possess anything towards persons in need. To quote Saint Ambrose:“You are not making a gift of your possessions to the poor person. You are handing over to him what is his. For what has been given in common for the use of all, you have arrogated to yourself. The world is given to all, and not only to the rich.”

EAST AFRICA FOOD CRISIS APPEAL

We’ve launched an ur-gent appeal to help get food and water to thou-sands of people being affected by famine and hunger in East Africa.

The United Nations has warned that over 20 million people could face starvation in the worst humanitarian crisis since its creation in 1945.

Working as part of the global Caritas network of Catholic international aid charities, we’re al-ready working with local organisations in South Sudan to get emergency food supplies and water to those in need.

Next Sunday there will be a special collection in support of the work of the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund

other countries affected by severe food shortages such as Ethiopia where we’re helping cattle herd-ers to access clean water, both for people and their livestock, access animal feed and veterinary ser-vices and maintain an income.

But the situation will get worse in the Spring and Summer months and many lives will be lost unless food aid going to the region is massively increased:

This is an appalling catastrophe which is un-folding before our eyes. In South Sudan alone over a million people face the very real possi-bility of starvation in the weeks and months ahead. Several other countries and their people face a similar fate.

The simple truth is, unless we increase the emergency food aid to the region now, many in-nocent men, women and children will die.

SCIAF is working as

part of the global Cari-tas network of Catholic international aid chari-ties and with other local organisations to get food and water to thousands of people in South Sudan and surrounding coun-tries, but the scale of the crisis means much more is needed.
