The Pride Center is a The Safe Zone symbol means that all are welcome, especially members of the LGBT+ community. The invisibilty of sexual orientation makes it difficult for LGBT+ students and colleagues to know where to safely turn for support and information. The Safe Zone symbol delivers the message, “It’s OK here.Safe Zone is a program designed to foster a welcoming and supportive campus for LGBT+ students, faculty, and staff. Participants complete a training program to increase their knowledge about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender concerns. They serve as an informal resource and provide support to LGBT+ people and help them access campus resources. Look for the Safe Zone symbols throughout campus to help you identify Safe Zone participants. Respect for Individuals in the community Slippery Rock University provides an environment that respects, encourages and promotes the talents and contributions of all. SRU values a community with a shared sense of purpose, where people demonstrate mutual respect and appreciaton. SRU values diversity that honors and includes all persons, regardless of age, creed, disability, ethnic heritage, gender, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status in academic and extracurricular endeavors, in the working environment and in the daily life of the University community. The Pride Center is an environment that encourages empowerment, awareness, and education about lesbian, gay,bisexual and transgender people.

The Pride Center supports and affirms the diverse identities and lives of lesbian,gay, bisexual, transgender and questioningpeople by the cultivation of a safe,welcoming, non-judgementalenvironment.

- Programming about LGBT+- Books- Movies- Documentaries- Television series- Conversation- A safe place to hang out

RockOUT is the student lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally organization atSlippery Rock University. Members ofRockOUT educate the campus and thecommunity on LGBT+ issues. Everyone iswelcome to be apart of the organization-allies included.

An ally is a self-identified straight individualwho supports members of the LGBT+community through friendship and advocacy.All information shared at RockOUT is heldin confidence. Every first time attendee isrequired to sign a Confidentiality Form statingthat they will not share personal informationdisclosed at meetings.

The PASSHE Lesbian, Gay, Bixsexual,Transgender, Queer, Questioning,Intersex, and Allies Consortium existsto ensure and strengthen a visible, safe,equitable, inclusive and welcomingcommunity for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, andgender expressions throughout PASSHE and its constituencies througheducation, advocacy, assessment, community engagement and activism.

The consortium is working toaccomplish its mission by networking and working toward change at the state level. Members will also support activityon the local level by working withindividual universities in the system.
