30TH HYERES FESTIVAL: THE 10 FINALISTS JOIN YOU AT PREMIERE VISION PARIS

Eager to support textile creativity and young design talent in particular, Première Vision has demonstrated its support to the famous Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography since 2011. In 2013, the world’s premier fabric show re-confirmed its commitment to the festival by sponsoring the Hyères Grand Jury Prize - accompanied by a 15,000 € grant - which has since been renamed the Première Vision Grand Jury Prize.

This past 28th January, the jury of the 30th Hyères Festival met in Paris to select the 10 shortlisted finalists for the competition, who will be presenting their collections from 23 to 27 April at the Villa Noailles. Given this special anniversary date, a special jury has been convened. Virginie Viard, Creative Studio Director of CHANEL, is the President of the fashion jury for this 30th edition, and Karl Lagerfeld is the Artistic Director.

Première Vision was present for the announcing of the finalists, and was thus able to learn more about these 10 young design talents, from 6 countries. Because, importantly, Première Vision’s involvement in this event is not limited to merely sponsoring the Grand Prize.

Next 10, 11 and 12 February, well ahead of the next edition of the Festival, the 10 young designers will be welcomed to Première Vision Paris. They will be meeting

with a selection of exhibitors from Première Vision Fabrics (wovens and flatbed knits), Première Vision Accessories (accessories and components for fashion and design), Première Vision Yarns (yarns and fibres) and Première Vision Manufacturing (manufacturing).

This is a momentous opportunity for these young fashion designers who, working directly with exhibitors who have demonstrated their interest, can take advantage of this privileged access to products and services - yarns, fabrics, accessories and manufacturing - from leading international fashion companies in order to create their collections.

As part of its support, Première Vision Paris will also welcome, as it does each season, former Festival winners, who, for the two years following their win, are given free access to all the Paris shows thanks to their free badges. They may attend the Première Vision Paris fashion seminars, and, should they wish, benefit from the expertise of the Première Vision fashion teams who remain at their disposal to offer assistance and advice at the shows and afterwards.

PREMIÈRE VISION, PATRON OF THE « DÉBOUTONNER LA MODE » EXHIBIT AT THE MUSEE DES ARTS DECORATIFS

Beyond the shows it organises around the world, beyond the offer and services it presents to international fashion industry players, Première Vision has long sought to highlight creativity through specific actions and events directly linked to creativity: partnering with the Hyères Festival of Young Fashion Designers, organising the PV Awards, partnering with Texprint®, the textile design competition...

Eager to highlight creative heritage as well, Première Vision quite naturally chose to sponsor an exhibition it has a particular affinity with: the exhibition «Déboutonner la mode» at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris. The exhibition, which opens 10 February at the same time as Première Vision Paris*, runs through 19 July 2015.

Tracing the history of fashion buttons, those functional but decorative accessories, the exhibit has a particular resonance at Première Vision Accessories (ex Modamont), the international show of accessories and components for fashion and design. The museum exhibition examines the creative synergy between the different industries now gathered together at the Première Vision Paris: yarns, fabrics, leathers and fur, textile designs, accessories and garment manufacturing.

AN EXCEPTIONAL EXHIBITION OF OVER 3,000 PIECES

The exhibition “Déboutonner la mode» provides an opportunity to unveil a unique collection of over 3,000 buttons, shown alongside a selection of more than 100 garments and accessories for men and women chosen from some of the most iconic designers, including Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Patrick Kelly. An extraordinary collection in terms of its variety, richness and eclecticism, acquired in 2012 and brought together by Loïc Allio at the Musée des Arts décoratifs.

Dating from the 18th to the 20th century, these pieces, even though small in size, are true works of art for the preciousness of their materials and fabrication techniques. Made by craftsmen from various disciplines - passementiers, embroiderers, goldsmiths, glass-makers, potters or paruriers - buttons crystallize the memory and evolution of various know-hows. They have also attracted the interest of many artists: painters, sculptors and famous jewellery designers, who created unique designs for couture houses, signing their names to their creations like individual miniature works of art.

A SAVOIR-FAIRE ON DISPLAY AT PREMIÈRE VISION ACCESSORIES

From the beginning, button design and creation, so rich in creative traditional savoir-faire, has been an historic, and still very important, industry for the international show of accessories and components for fashion and design. It is also a business focused on innovation, developing even today new and exciting collections, both aesthetically and creatively as well as from a technical and practical viewpoint.

At its February edition, Première Vision Accessories is dedicating a special area to provide a link to the «Déboutonner la mode» exhibition, to draw parallels between the history of buttons presented at the Musée des Arts décoratifs and the future developments proposed at the show. This custom-designed area will welcome a selection of exceptional vintage and innovative pieces from the archives and current collections of show exhibitors.

â Join us in the special-event area in Hall 4, near aisle H, to explore this selection of buttons. And discover all the news and very latest developments from our specialised exhibitors at their stands.

THE WORLD’S PREMIER FABRIC SHOW

comON CREATIVITY SHARING : STRUCTURES, VOLUMES, ARTICULATIONS

When the Como industry calls on young designers from Italian high schools and design schools to focus on innovation, the result can only be spectacular.

The comON Creativity Sharing project is just that. Born from the passion of a group of entrepreneurs from the Como textile region - the regional leader in the production of silk fabrics for the most prestigious markets - comON brings together, each year, the top talent from the best design schools, putting the creativity and ideas of young students together with the realities of Italian textile industry production.

This initiative is sponsored by EXPO 2015 and supported by local authorities, the Como Chamber of Commerce and some 70 companies - industry, schools, universities and cultural institutions.

Clothing, hats, one of a kind pieces ... In a display playing on structure and volumes, Première Vision Fabrics presents a selection of the best projects proposed by the students to coincide with the latest edition of the operation. The exhibition STRUCTURES, VOLUMES, ARTICULATIONS can be discovered in Hall 5, aisle 5B, near the passageway with Première Vision Accessories.

INNOVATE TOGETHER CHALLENGE #4 – LEATHER HYBRIDIZATIONS

Since 2011, the ‘Innovate Together’ Challenge organised by the Compagnons du Devoir guild with the support of the J.M. WESTON Foundation has been bringing together young people training in the sectors of expertise, creation and management around a shared project.

Organised in partnership with ENSCI (the Ecole National Supérieure de Création Industrielle - Industrial Design School) and the IFM (l’Institut Français de la Mode - French Fashion Institute) this educational project includes around twenty participants and seven complementary professions.• Bootmakers and shoemakers / Compagnons du Devoir guild• Upholsterers / Compagnons du Devoir guild• Saddlers and leather goods makers / Compagnons du Devoir guild• Product designers / ENSCI• Textile designers / ENSCI• Design managers / IFM

For this fourth edition of the Innovate Together Challenge, organised in partnership with CTC and Première Vision Leather, the three teams undertaking the adventure have explored the theme of “leather hybridizations”. This has resulted in the development of three projects that will be exhibited at the entrance to the show:

Projet Gaÿa - winner of the Prix de l’Excellence 2014: This rocking chair covered by an animal hide made from strips of leather and multi-coloured fabrics brings the animal origins of leather to life. Formed into strips then combined with multicolour textiles, they cover a rocking chair with an exotic and opulent coat, like a 21st Century Barbarian throne.• Mélanie Gabillon/ Upholsterer - Compagnons du Devoir• Aurélie Billaux/ Saddler - Compagnons du Devoir• Natacha Poutoux/ Product design - ENSCI• Aurelia Zarotti/ Product design - ENSCI• Laura Villey/ Textile design - ENSCI• Thibault Feltz/ Design management - IFM• Kenji Ishii/ Design management - IFM

Projet Apellis : This minaudière bag is made up of a double shell in cellular leather inspired by honeycomb and makes the most of the characteristic stiffness created by vegetable tanning. It has taken on a structural role and joined forces with parchment to create a unique design.• Marie Dionnet / Design management - IFM• Renaud Van Kote / Design management - IFM• Yoran MATHIAS / Leather goods maker - Compagnons du Devoir• Audrey LEFEVRE / Upholsterer - Compagnons du Devoir• Eve George / Product design - ENSCI• Nolwenn Le Scao / Textile design - ENSCI

THE WORLD’S LEADING LEATHER AND FUR SHOW

IFM X PREMIÈRE VISION LEATHER

Since 2001, PREMIÈRE VISION LEATHER has been supporting the designers of the “Design Postgraduate Program” from the French Fashion Institute, IFM.

During this postgraduate program, which is entirely professionally-based, these young and newly-qualified designers each develop two leather accessories collections (bags, gloves, belts and small leathergoods) including a collection for one of the programme’s partner labels, or a collection of clothing as well as a collection of shoes. Each collection is based on a strong creative proposition, an in-depth understanding of the technical constraints and the materials, involves the preparation of a collection plan, pre-prototypes and technical datasheets, and is supervised by a business during the production of the final prototypes.

Year on year, the partnership with PREMIÈRE VISION LEATHER pursues its objective of facilitating contact between these young designers from around the world and players from the leather sector, to enable a meeting between expertise and innovation.

For its forthcoming edition, PREMIÈRE VISION LEATHER is offering 20 designers from the class of 2014 the opportunity of presenting extracts of their bag, clothing and footwear collections, produced by manufacturers and prestigious French and international luxury houses, with the materials provided, often at no cost, by a number of tanneries, the majority of which are also present at the show.

THE WORLD’S LEADING LEATHER AND FUR SHOW

THE NEW AREA, SOUNDBOX : PROPAGATING THE WAVES EMITTED BY THE CREATIVE ATMOSPHERE

Echoing the theme of “Transcontinental Modernity” that has been chosen to illustrate the spring summer 16 season on the Trends Gallery, Première Vision Leather dedicates the new Sound Box area to this incontrovertible fact: the major exhibitions and events of the moment underline the urgent need to bring modernity to the fore. Or how can we reinvent the future, bring worlds together, disarm this world under pressure, materialise the invisible, bring ideas to life, absorb modernity?

The walls of the Sound Box will be ringing with the questions asked of various interlocutors, stylists, sociologists, creators, artists and designers from around the world such as Olivier Saillard, Philippe Trétiack et François Bernard and their answers, formulated in words, sounds, music and/or images.

Sound Box is a new, experimental space at Première Vision Leather, designed to propagate the waves emitted by the creative atmosphere. Concepts, trends and ideas produce vibrations. These are diffused, they radiate far from their source and bounce back amplified, loaded with elements, substances, odours and sounds gathered along their way. One idea invades another, one artistic expression imprints on another, one season imbibes another, one talent contaminates another.

Philippe Trétiack Planner – Special correspondent for Elle - WriterHow to illustrate a dematerialised universe with something that is durable and solid?

Olivier Saillard Director of the Galliera Museum“From a very personal point of view, I think that what is modern is not that far removed from what we are used to calling ‘classic’.”

François Bernard Croisements agency – Observatory of Maison & ObjetsI’m nostalgic for modernity. It’s the Greece of Pericles, the 17th Century, the 1930s, it’s a collective project based on a desire to head, en masse, towards the future.

THE SHOW FOR TEXTILE DESIGNS AND CREATION

To coincide with the launch of Premiere Vision Paris’s new brand strategy, the international show of patterns and textile designs draws inspiration from the Première Vision Manifesto for an especially creative and imaginative operation.

For its February edition, even while the black and white design of the Manifesto are featured throughout the common spaces at Villepinte, Première Vision Designs has called on 11 design schools exhibiting this season, asking them for something special: illustrate the manifesto.

It’s safe to bet that the colour and fantasy of these young student-designers’ motifs will be sure to interpret these words and extracts in an original way!
