1. Rendez-vous en France heads for Marseille and the Provence region
Rendez-vous en France, the top international BtoB trade show for tourism
in France, is holding its 14th edition in Marseille, in the Provence region.
The event organiser Atout France, has invited 950 prescribers from 73
countries, to whom French incoming tourism professions will be able to
present their offering.
The aim is to give opinion leaders a grasp of the great variety of the
French tourism offering so that they can add new products and
destinations to their programme.
In 2019, Atout France is organising its flagship trade show in partnership
with the Comité régional de tourisme Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur,
Provence Tourisme and the Office Métropolitain de Tourisme et des
Congrès de Marseille.
Over two days, a succession of 20-minute business meetings will be held
at the Parc Chanot exhibition centre in Marseille. 25, 696 meetings have
been scheduled between exhibitors and international tour operators.
For Atout France, the decision to hold Rendez-vous en France 2019 in the
Provence, Alpes and Côte d'Azur regions was also motivated by a desire
to show international opinion leaders what these three destinations have
to offer. They have an extremely rich and varied range of attractions,
which buyers will see for themselves during the 26 familiarisation trips
organised in Provence, Alpes and Côte d'Azur.
In all, 60 familiarisation trips are being organised throughout France so
that 560 buyers can experience the French tourism offering first-hand.
The Rendez-vous en France trade show is organised by Atout France in partnership with Air France, SNCF,
Les Entreprises du voyage, the Comité Régional de Tourisme Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Comité
Régional du Tourisme Côte d’Azur France, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Comité Régional
du Tourisme de Paris Région, the Comité Régional de Tourisme des Hauts-de-France, the Agence du

INTERNATIONAL PRESS
Atout France has also invited 35 journalists working for the international
trade press to accompany buyers to the trade show. An opportunity to
provide maximum visibility to French destinations' products and new
features.
Partners
Air France and SNCF/Rail Europe are the trade show's partner carriers.
Nearly three out of every four tour operators and international journalists
attending Atout France are transported within France, to Paris and
regional destinations, thanks to the active participation of the carriers Air
France and SNCF/Rail Europe, which have once again renewed their
commitment to Atout France by supplying tickets.

3. French destinations have adopted Rendez-vous en France
Every year, Atout France and the regional tourism bodies join forces to
help international delegations discover the diversity and richness of
France's cultural heritage and natural assets by doing familiarisation trips.
These are short trips in small groups held just prior to the Rendez-vous en
France trade show. They are an ideal opportunity for the visitors to meet
the regional partners, and a perfect complement to the business
meetings held during the trade show.
The different trips are designed to showcase the diversity of the French
offering: Michelin-starred restaurants and country inns, renowned resorts
and sites, accommodation and hospitality facilities, and events of all
kinds make this a convivial but professional operation.
The tour operators register for one of the themed programmes,
depending on their centre of interest.
In 2019, the destinations in the trade show's 13 partner regions received
560 prescribers on 60 familiarisation trips (compared with 42 in 2018). In
short, 60% of the tour operators attending the trade show are expected
to do a familiarisation trip.
The Provence, Alpes and Côte d'Azur regions alone are running 26
programmes.

3.4 - Atout France Atout France, the France Tourism Development Agency
The initial observations for 2018 seem to indicate excellent results for international tourism; a
record could even be reached with 90 million visitors welcomed in France. Results that are in line
with the objectives set by the Government.
At the inter-ministerial meeting on tourism on January 2018, the Prime Minister reiterated the
government's objectives (100 million visitors to France in 2020 and revenue of €50 billion) and
confirmed Atout France's role in its missions:
- Renew the offering and maintain its quality, through engineering and the funding for major
tourism projects in the French regions;
- Encourage the development and promotion of destination brands (and their businesses)
on international markets.
PROVIDE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FOR RENEWING THE OFFERING AND MAINTAINING ITS QUALITY
Atout France guides and supports the French regions with their development strategy and helps
set up investment projects in order to boost the tourism offering and raise its quality.
At the inter-ministerial meeting on tourism on January 2018, the Agency was appointed to act at
the primary contact for project managers in the French regions. From this point on, the Agency will
guide and support them with implementing around 10 major projects per year, with support from
the Caisse des Dépôts and the future Agence nationale des territoires.
In addition to this assistance, every year Atout France publishes around 10 studies for industry
professionals. These studies are designed to expand their knowledge of the markets and market
sectors, and hone their development strategies (e.g. How to cater for tourists from India; Air
connections to France; Dashboard of tourism investments). Atout France also runs training courses,
including online courses (MOOC on receiving visitors to France).
The Agency is also tasked with maintaining the quality of the offering through a number of
schemes: rating system for tourist accommodation, luxury hotel distinction awarded to 24
outstanding establishments, tour operator registration, promotion of quality labels (e.g. "Vignobles
& Découvertes" pour wine tourism).
ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF DESTINATIONS AND BUSINESSES ON INTERNATIONAL
MARKETS
Through its 32 offices around the world and close collaboration with the diplomatic network, the
Agency has an in-depth knowledge of the various tourism markets and the distribution
stakeholders.
It leverages this expertise to offer its 1,300 professional partners tools for understanding the
demand (current situation for each country and sector, or market research) and undertaking
marketing and promotional initiatives focused on destination brands.
Over 2,800 promotional operations are held each year around the world, targeting both
professionals (international tour operators, the press and influencers) and the general public.
At the centre of this system is an effective website, France.fr, which encourages online users from
all over the world (in 14 languages and 28 versions) to come and discover, or rediscover, the art of
fine living in the French destinations.
