Debbie will secretly collect the votes. No one will know the winners and how you voted except Debbie. She'll an-nounce the winners at the Awards Ban-quet on November 4. The list of previous year's winners is below. Note, previous winners are not eligible to win again. Suggested criteria for the each award:

Hole-in-One Club Perhaps a couple of months behind, but bet-ter late than never…Bob Haefele made his fourth hole-in-one back on June 23! He achieved this feat at Lake Valley in Camden-ton, Mo., on the 181 yd.

hole #13, with a #2 recovery wood. Bob is now spelled AMAZING!

In the Spotlight! Susie South may be a golf novice, but she is de-termined to conquer the sport. She said, "I'm work-ing on my golf game. I bought clubs, have lessons

scheduled, have hit several buckets of balls, and now can consistently hit the ball. They mostly slide across the grass at this point, but I'm sure it's only a matter of a little time and practice before that hole-in-one happens." When she is not working on her golf game, she is playing pickleball. She has been playing for four years and hopes to recruit some of the golfer members. She wondered, "What do you guys do all win-ter anyhow?" Susie grew up in Shawnee, lived in At-lanta for a short time, and has lived in Lenexa for the last 28 years. She's a reg-istered nurse and works from home for a pharmaceutical company talking to pa-tients about one very expensive medica-

tion. She loves her job but admitted think-ing a lot about retirement at this point. "Pickleball and golf priorities, you know..." All three of Susie's adult daughters have recently moved back within blocks from her. She loves all the shopping and happy hours together. She is also very excited that she will welcome her first grandchild in November. In recent years, Susie met several members of our group. Dave Bowen, in particular, shared a lot of information. She noted, "I can't say he recruited me be-cause I thinking my joining came as a surprise to him. Too late now, Dave..."

Sacramento ASGA Invites You

to the Carson City Golf Weekend

October 6-8 — Carson City, Nevada Every year the Sacramento Chapter of the American

Singles Golf Association hosts a weekend golf outing and invites all ASGA members from across the country to come out and enjoy some great golf with us.

After a successful trip to Monterey last year, we are once again headed to the high country in Carson City for this year’s outing. This is a location that most of the members of our western chapters of ASGA can get to easily. Carson City is home of “The Devine Nine”, and is located 30 min-utes south of the Reno-Tahoe Airport. This year it is the

New Leaders to Be Elected in Each Chapter It’s an annual thing. Each chapter, whether you know it or not, is led by people, a/k/a volunteers, who take their time and make life nice for you. Each chapter is required to, per your bylaws (www.SinglesGolf.com/bylaws), elect a new chapter president each year and committee chair positions (golf, social, member-ship and communications). Other positions are appointed, e.g. secretary and treasurer. After everything’s in place, your chapter should look like this “organizational chart”:

www.SinglesGolf.com/OrganizationalChart

These people comprise your Board of Directors who is ulti-mately responsible for making sure things run right to assure

The 2018 New Year Cele-belation

As the stock market climbs, people become more desirous to spend some of that money. Especially as they get older. The travel industry has become the beneficiary of the wealth and as a result, cost of hotel rooms nationwide continue to increase. Years ago, we began to see this hit us more so around New Years. There’s a limited number of hotels in Florida and millions flocking south to enjoy some warm weather. Our old pattern for the New Year’s event was December 29-January 1 of each year. For the past several years, we’ve managed to shave hundreds of dollars off event fees by coming in on a January 1, 2 or 3 at a time when hotels need business as everyone returns home. Our 2018 event will be announced soon. Yes, Florida. Yes, a day or so after the first. So continue to monitor your email and when put together, we think you’ll be happy at what we’ve prepared for you.

The 2018 Seine River Cruise Paris, France — September 9 — 18, 2018

We’ve selected Tauck as our river cruise company of choice. Tauck, a 92-year-old company that started provid-

ing tours to parts of America and Canada many people had never seen, has helped ASGA plan this trip with a promise our members will thoroughly enjoy from private tours of small and historic French towns along the Seine River to the beauty of the MS Swiss Sapphire ship itself, the professionalism of the

Tauck staff, to the highly acclaimed food that will be pre-pared for us each evening.

Having taken this itinerary as a site visit in October of last year, I can personally attest to the great “first class” value. ASGA has “special pricing.” We never pay what the public pays for our multi-chapter events, whether on the mainland or overseas. (We’re not allowed to actually tell you price difference, but if you go to the website and click on the COST tab, you’ll see for yourself.) Our itinerary is to visit the historic monuments in Rouen, the English Channel villages of Etretat and Honfleur, Jumieges Ab-bey, one of the great Benedictines of France, Chateau Gaillard, Claude Monet’s home and a lot more. At our halfway point on the cruise, we’ll visit the D-Day beaches of Normandy. Head to www.SinglesGolf.com/RiverCruise or review the video at www.SinglesGolf.com/RiverCruiseVideo.

more fun, fellowship and fairways. Your chapter’s bylaws require you to 1) set-up a Nomination’s Committee to seek individuals to serve in the various commit-tees, 2) have an election in October for a new chapter president and 3) have an election in November for the four (4) committee heads (golf, social, membership and communications). All new officers take office on January 1. If you’re interested in serving on the Board of your chapter, please don’t hesitate to speak up and become part of the deci-sion-making process. Contact your current leaders. As always, your service to your chapter is much appreciated. Terms are for one year only but it can be a life changing event in your life. Become a leader or support your newly elected chapter leaders. A job description for each position can be located at the following links:

It’s been said many times that the Number One job of a chap-ter president is to delegate to each of the four committee chairs. If a president “does it all,” next year, then there’s a good chance no one will want to serve in that position the following year. Now is the time to start thinking about next year!
