Ministry Focus
Carlos was appointed by Missions Door in 2014 serving as a missionary in Guatemala. In
2004, Carlos felt God calling him to ministry and left his career as an accountant to plant
churches in Guatemala City. In 2008, Carlos and Lily, along with their three children, moved to
Llano Largo to plant a church where Carlos currently pastors. They have since planted two
more churches in Guatemala and continue seeking opportunities to plant churches in areas
needing a place for worship and community.
In addition to church planting and pastoring, Carlos is the regional supervisor for five churches
in the northern region of Guatemala City. Carlos also continues to study and teach seminary
classes at SETCA, Seminario Teológico Comisión a las Americas.
Lily has been involved in ministry throughout her life. She serves as the Sunday School
Director at their church and leads conferences for women, children and youth. She is
passionate about family ministry, specifically families struggling to feed their children or who
have been torn apart from domestic violence, and she hopes to develop a church-based
program to serve these specific needs.
Faith Story Carlos was born into a Christian family and accepted Christ in 1983 while attending Vacation
Bible School at his father’s church. While working at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala,
God touched his heart to leave his job and begin ministry full-time. He has been doing ministry
in Guatemala ever since.
Lily was also born into a Christian family and accepted Christ at age seven after her Sunday
school teacher helped her understand salvation. She lives for the Lord, serving in ministry with
Carlos.
Family Carlos was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. In 1998 he married Lily, daughter of Missions
Door missionaries Otto and Rosa de la Cruz. They are proud parents to their three children:
Lilian Rachel, Carlos David and Jennifer Abigail.
