National PTA adopted a position statementsupporting clear, high standards in 1981.

PTA is the leading voice speaking on behalf ofparents.

PTAs have the ability to be the vehicle of information

as states begin the implementation stage of CCSSI. In July of 2011, Delaware PTA received a $40,000.00

grant from National PTA via the Bill & Melinda GatesFoundation to educate all parents on theimplementation & sustainability of common core

standards in Delaware. Both National and Delaware PTA's role is to serve as

partners with education leaders and demonstratesupport of quality education for all children.

Core members of the CCSS Committeeattended a 3 day training in September.

We worked on a multi-phase plan of action tostrategically reach out to parents in all 3counties.

On September 27, we had our 1st meetingwith DDOE partners at the table to assist us

in understanding the critical details of theimplementation and alignment timeline.

National PTA President Betsy Landers joined us for theday.

We gave a Common Core training & gave parent guidesto all convention delegates!

We hosted a panel discussion about Common Core StateStandards & implementation by our Delaware Superstarsin Education:
