Ruff Weapons II

Following the previous document on this theme here are some more examples

of weapons that can be use and manufactured at home or easily acquired.

Sling

Zhua

Is a strange claw-shaped weapon used by the Ancient Chinese that

was attached to a long pole or rope. The weapon seems strange,

but it was very useful for removing enemy shields and could cause

devastating damage to an opponent's head.

Tessen

Is a Japanese war fan often used by the samurai during feudal Japan.

While these fans were typically used for signaling, they could be used

for combat in emergencies. These folding fans might not look tough,

but the outer edges were made of sharpened iron plates. Some

warriors even used solid iron fans called gunbai that were strong

enough to deflect arrows.

Kanabo

The Samurai were mainly known for using the legendary katana, but

they also used the intimidating kanabo. This massive wooden club

was hard to carry and use in combat, but it could deliver a bone-

breaking impact.

Mere Club

Used by the Mori tribes of New Zealand, this simple-looking, yet solid,

club was built from nephrite jade. Strangely enough, the Mori used

the 12-20 inch club for jabbing and thrusting instead of swinging

downward blows in the way that most other clubs are used.
