Now a fix venue of the Parisian fashion week, the Austrian Fashion Showcase proudly presents the Fall Winter 2013/2014 collec-tions of seven Austrian accessory designers: Andy Wolf Eyewear, Bradaric Ohmae, Gon, Katharina Schmid, Mangelware, Rose Beck Wien and Wubet.Right in the heart of Première Classe, the Austrian Fashion Showcase invites you to witness a vibrating creative scene eager to show their know-how and design visions to the world. Featuring bold ideas, strong aesthetic statements, as well as unique artistic approaches and solid craftsmanship, we aim to excite, enchant and fascinate you with our carefully composed selection. Some of the designers on show have been presenting in Paris, Milan, New York or Tokyo and are already well-established global brands. For them, the Austrian Fashion Showcase at Première Classe is a possibility to find additional markets or to feature new collection lines with a clear focus on accessories. Then there are nationally acknowledged designers, who seek to branch out beyond their borders and develop new sales strategies abroad. Rounding off the presentation, some emerging, award-win-ning talents with fresh takes on design and unbridled commercial ambitions are on display. Our objective is clear: we want you to look, touch, try and buy. We hope you are game and look forward to meeting you there. You can’t miss us.

ANDY WOLF EYEWEAR

www.andy-wolf.at

Founded by Austrian designer Katharina Plattner, Andy Wolf Eye-wear launched its first eyewear collection in 2006, delivering a range of timeless, modern eyewear, complying with the highest aesthetic and functional demands. The brand succeeded in es-tablishing itself within a few years as a permanent fixture in the designer eyewear market, attracting an impressive list of celebrities and international boutiques.

Interested not in mass production but in delivering a line of hand-made, luxury accessories, Andy Wolf Eyewear focuses on exclusiv-ity: only 500 pieces are produced per model. Made in Austria, every frame passes through a manufacturing process of up to 3 weeks, during which every single production step is done by hand.

The brand’s highly individual approach of eyewear is all about craftsmanship and love of the product.

«One can love nearly everything. Different people, strange places, every kind of music – at least nearly every kind – memories buried deep within.» In the case of Andy Wolf’s new collection – all of the above combined.

Sandra Schmidt

DESIGNER SANDRA SCHMIDT

Founded in 2007 by Sandra Schmidt, Austrian label Mangelware offers high-quality women’s wear and accessories that play with tra-ditions whilst accentuating the uniqueness of each individual.

Mangelware’s design has a subtle graphical expression focusing on details such as pleats, smocked fabric and the combination of different woven and knit materials that discreetly and intelligently accentuate the body.

The accessory line of the Fall Winter 2013/2014 collection ‚considering circumstances‘ includes hats, scarves, gloves, wristlets and bags with knitwear and wooden details. All the pieces are produced in Austria and Germany using local fabrics and yarns.

Gon is a fashion label created by Christina Steiner, a graduate of Raf Simons and Veronique Branquinho at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

Dressing, housing, playing and collecting are the most important terms in the label’s philosophy. The creative approach greatly relies on information and impressions gained by collecting and research-ing a wide variety of topics such as nature, culture and history. In this fashion a virtual cabinet of curiosities or wonder-room, known from the European Renaissance, is created. Consisting of all kinds of things, from patterns and shapes to more abstract entities such as emotions and concepts, this room constantly grows and changes un-til various aspects evolve to an elaborated idea or concept, which is then taken and finally adapted in a fashion context.

The Fall Winter 2013/2014 collection ‚figment‘ is inspired by Rich-ard Artschwager’s furniture. Artschwager’s two- and three-dimension-al sculptures deal with imitation, illusion, functionality and artificiality. The different natures of the materials to be imitated are reduced to their visual character and further replaced by various kinds of leather.

Katharina Schmid

Vienna-based goldsmith and jewellery designer Katharina Schmid creates individual pieces and small series combining the subtlety of purist shapes and charming details with high-quality craftsmanship.

‚Forget me knots‘ are meant to be personal reminders of a precious person or event in one’s life: delicate wires of silver or gold knot together elegantly around fingers and wrists.

Made of pure wires of silver and gold, the bracelets and rings of the ‚Pure‘ line convey a feeling of understated luxury with their minimal-ism and simplicity.

In contrast with the ‚Pure‘ and ‚Forget me knots‘ collections, the pen-dants ‚The Greatest‘ send out an ambiguous and ironic message. The boxing glove made out of colourful aluminium or shining silver reflects self-confidence and is named after boxing idol Muhammad Ali who once said: «Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.»

Arnold Haas

DESIGNER ARNOLD HAAS

Arnold Haas, the Austrian designer behind the label Wubet, creates scarves, throws, shawls and knitwear of impeccable quality and craftsmanship.

The Fall Winter 2013/2014 collection ‚Coloured Shadows‘ highlights just this je ne sais quoi of a globetrotter with an acute eye and a passion for the handmade, the exquisite and the authentic, always with a modern touch and sense of colour that can only be explained as very Wubet.

The exclusive pieces in ultra luxurious hand-woven alpaca are avail-able in vivid stripes and solids in a range of burnt orange, dayroom yellow, new white, skylight, smoked trout and railings.

The textiles made by Wubet are the result of a strictly manual pro-cess performed on antique looms. The production is entirely made in Peru, the quantity is limited and each component is worked by hand.

Tanja Bradaric

Croatian Tanja Bradaric and Japanese Taro Ohmae are the design-ers behind the label Bradaric Ohmae.

Their work seeks to translate the turbulence of the present day into a raw creative energy, which expresses the potential for a bright future. From the starting point of stereotypical representations, Bradaric Ohmae experiment with technique, material, texture and pattern to create an innovative hybrid style. Playing with the idea that something wholly unique can mutate from cliché, their designs embody and explore their own ethnic and cultural origins. What emerges is a vibrant impulse of colour, playful detail and originally crafted pieces.

The Bradaric Ohmae classic bag line is inspired by the long history of Viennese caning furniture – think Thonet and the classical bistro chair – which is still present in the everyday life of Vienna‘s coffee houses.

The simple and clean shapes are made out of Wiener Geflecht (netting) and featured in beige, black, silver and white in order to remain close to the original chair design and the Viennese coffee house spirit.
