Material of adapter: PE (Polyethylene)This plastic material is resistant to water, many alkalies, acids andsalt solutions. It is only limited chemical resistant to oils, organicsolvents and fuels. In contact with some of these substances (depending on concentration and density) PE tends to swell.

Overview of different pump tube materials and their applications

Stainless steel = SS- pump tubes, max. temperature accor-ding to ex certificate, outside ex areas 90 or 120 °Care suitable for highly flammable media up to temperature class4 and for use in ex zone 0.*)

With SS pump tubes principally all neutral and flammable thinfluid media like solvents, organic and diluted anorganic acidsand alkalies will be pumped.

Examples of media: acetone, alcohol, ammonia, gasoline, flam-mable solvents, pyroxylin varnishes, perchlor ethylene, trichlore-thylene, toluol, caustic potash solution, sodium hydroxide, phos-phoric acid up to 60 %, sulphuric acid up to 7,5 and from 96 %.

Further on suitable for fruit juices, milk, edible oils and all otherat Alu pump tubes mentioned media.

Polypropylene = PP pump tubes up to 50 °Care suitable for aggressive and heavily flammable media, espe-cially for alkalies, acids and neutral media.

Examples of media: caustic potash, sodium hydroxide, formicacid, ammonia, boric acid, chromic acid up to 10%, acetic acid,hydrofluoric acid up to 70%, fruit acids, lactic acid, phosphoricacid, hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid up to 80%.

Further on suitable for fertilizer solutions, photo developer solu-tions, copper chloride and distilled water.

Polyvinylidenfluorid = PVDF pump tubes up to 90 °Care suitable for aggressive and heavily flammable media, espe-cially for high concentrated alkalies, acids and neutral media.

Examples of media: bromhydric acid, chromic acid, cloric acid,hydrofluoric acid, sodium hypochlorite, nitric acid up to 75%and sulphuric acid.

Further on all media - except caustic soda - that are mentionedat PP pump tubes can be pumped.

Aluminium = Alu pump tubes up to 90 °C are suitable for neutral and heavily flammable media.

Examples of media: diesel, heating oil, hydraulic oil, bore emul-sions, liquid soaps, liquid wax, water and non flammable sol-vents.

*Ex- protection only in combination with ex certified electric or pneumatic motors.

Examples of mediaDepending on selected pump tube material and existing envi-ronment (non explosive or hazardous area) following media canbe pumped:

Hydrochloric acid, caustic soda, sulphuric acid, formic acid,amonium chloride, photo developer solution, caustic potash,fixing baths, acetic acid, phosphoric acid, fruit acids, nitricacid, hydrofluoric acid, bleaching lye, lactic acid, boric acid,chromic acid, oils, soap solutions and many other liquids.
