POWER IN THE VEHICLE
IMPORTANT: Utility requires a “Factory” (vehicle manufacturer or professionally installed) 12VDC, ground and 12 VDC ignition sense. Most “Police” package or public safety vehicles (fire truck/ambulances) have breakouts for these items. Some professional installers will install breakouts on equipment trays or other areas of the vehicles that can be used as long as they fulfill the requirement as listed. If these breakouts do not exist Utility HIGHLY recommends the installer acquire 12 VDC main power and ground directly from the battery. This often requires pulling wire from the trunk to the battery when no breakouts are available. Utility also requires the all three (power, ground, and ignition) connections be fused (5 A) and HIGHLY recommends using a waterproof inline mini blade fuse holder with appropriate waterproof butt splices and ring terminals as required (use of weatherproof/waterproof fuse holders, butt splices, and ring terminals is listed as a requirement for proper wiring in all (Ford, Chrysler, GM, etc.) manufacturing wiring guidelines).
Is there any power timer or conditioner used in the vehicle? (charge guard)
Yes No
Are there any other power conditioners/timers/cutoffs installed in the vehicle (besides the dock)?
Yes No
If “Yes”, please provide a description of what they are and what function they perform. Does the vehicle use “Shore” or “Shoreline” power (AC power to the battery to keep it charged)?
Yes No
Is there an equipment tray in the vehicle? Yes No
Can we use the tray in the vehicle? Yes No
If UA is installing equipment and an issue arises with current wiring, can we contact the original installer if the end user did not do the installation?
Yes No
