And Studio Hinge’s Pravir Sethi wanted to show exactly that. So, along with a team comprising his “co- conspirators” Tripti Sahni, Jaymin Tanna, Shanaya Dastur and Starlyn D’Souza, he chose the best thing next to thin air to showcase the gradual disappearance of the frame: wax. “There were two concepts at work. One was to take something that wasn’t precious and make it look like a precious material—like a devaluation of the traditional frame,” Sethi explains. And the other was to “subvert the relationship between the frame and the framed.” And as it melts out of existence, the frame reasserts its individuality, with the “frame itself producing the art”.
