    CHAPTER I

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

    1.1 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

o The scope of the internship includes the entire functioning of the organization which

encompasses the nature of the business it is involved.

o The companys current scenario, the departmental segregation created for the

    implementation of plans and procedures.

o The textile industry has got a wider dispersal in the state.

o The data at the level of primary textile units, a responsibilities sample of textile fabric

manufacturers with operational textile units and also without looms located in major

manufacturing centers like Coimbatore, alem, !rode, Tirupur, "adurai and Chennai.

    1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

o The objective of the study is to gain wide knowledge about the activities of the

    organization.

o #nd to gain practical knowledge and inherited experience about manufacturing sector

    and other functional departments.

o To know the various facilities provided to employees.

o To have an idea about the various departmental issues and functions.

o To analyses the functioning and interrelations of various departments.

o $ow the textile products are produced and what are the processes involved in it.

o To know the steps involved in production process and the packaging processes of

    textile.

o To know the various activities taking place in $uman %esource, "arketing, &roduction

    and 'inance departments.

    INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

    2.1 ALUMINIUM

#luminium is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic

number(). *t is a silvery white, soft, ductile metal. #luminium is the third most abundant

element, and the most abundant metalin the !arth+s crust. *t makes up about - by weight of

the !arth+s solid surface. #luminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimensare

rare and limited to extreme reducingenvironments. *nstead, it is found combined in over /0

different minerals. The chief oreof aluminium isbauxite.

#luminium is remarkable for the metal+s low density and for its ability to resist

corrosiondue to the phenomenon ofpassivation. tructural components made from aluminium

and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of

transportationand structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminium, at least on a

weight basis, are the oxides and sulfates.

1espite its prevalence in the environment, no known form of life uses aluminium salts

metabolically. *n keeping with its pervasiveness, aluminium is well tolerated by plants and

animals. 2wing to their prevalence, potential beneficial 3or otherwise4 biological roles of

aluminium compounds are of continuing interest.

#luminium forms strong chemical bondswith oxygen. Compared to most other metals,

it is difficult to extract from ore, such asbauxite, due to the high reactivity of aluminium and

the high melting point of most of its ores. 'or example, direct reduction with carbon, as is used

to produce iron, is not chemically possible because aluminium is a stronger reducing agent than

carbon. *ndirect carbothermic reduction can be carried out using carbon and #l2), which forms

an intermediate #l5C)and this can further yield aluminium metal at a temperature of (6007

    000 8C.

    2.2 HISTORY

#ncient 9reeks and %omans used aluminium salts as dyeing mordants and as

astringents for dressing wounds: alumis still used as a styptic. *n (/;(, 9uyton de "orveau
