The Royal Swedish Opera invites you to apply for the position of

Principal Harp in Kungliga Hovkapellet. All applications must be

completed through a video recording of the orchestral excerpts listed

below. Those who are successfully selected from the video application

will be invited to an (live) audition at the Royal Swedish Opera House

on 13 December 2021.

CRITERIA VIDEO RECORDNING

Below are the criteria needed in order to submit the obligatory video

audition recording for the Royal Swedish Opera, Kungliga Hovkapellet.

Candidates who do not follow these criteria will be rejected.

• Please submit the video as a streamable link (using YouTube or

Google Drive, for example). We do not accept videos sent as

downloadable links, such as Sprend or WeTransfer.

• The video should show your whole body.

• The microphone should not be placed further than 5 meters away

from your instrument.

• All the pieces should be performed in one take, following the exact

order in the repertoire list.

• The video recording can not be edited or cut.

• The sound of the video recording can not be processed, i.e. no use

of reverb, EQ, compressor or other sound effects are allowed.

• You should make your video recording in a room with a

normal/neutral acoustic. Do not record in a church or other

equivalent over acoustic room.

• Your instrument should be tuned in A=442kHz

The pre-selection will be blind, meaning the jury will only hear the

sound of the applicants, in a random order, without knowing their

names. The visuals are only needed and accessible by management to

confirm the identity and integrity of the recordings.

2. Wagner: from Tristan & Isolde, act 2.

3. Stravinsky: from Agon. Gailliarde

4. Mascagni: from Cavalleria Rusticana. Siciliana

5. Tchaikovsky: from Swan Lake. No. 13 V. Pas d’action. Odette et le Prince.

MANDATORY REPERTOIRE FOR INVITED TO LIVE AUDITION:

1. Ravel: Introduction et Allegro.

2. Hindemith: Sonata for Harp. Movement 1.

3. Tchaikovsky: from The Nutcracker. Waltz of the Flowers. Cadence.

Orchestral excerpts and chamber music for the live audition will be
