This project has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation under grant agreement No. 745695
THE ROLE OF STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT IN BIOECONOMY INNOVATION• COLLABORATIVE INNOVATION PROJECTS ARE OFTEN HIGHLY INTERDISCIPLINARY AND COMPLEX
PROJECTS WITH FAIRLY UNCERTAIN OUTCOMES
• PARTICULARLY FOR LOW TRL PROJECTS, THERE IS NOT ALWAYS A CLEAR IDEA OF THE
REQUIREMENTS OF END-USERS FOR A NEW TECHNOLOGY.
• FOR HIGH TRL PROJECTS, THE EXPECTATIONS AND NEEDS OF STAKEHOLDERS IN SOCIETY NEED TO
BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNTS IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT CLIENT DEMANDS ARE MET AND SOCIETAL
CONCERNS ARE ADDRESSED

THE ROLE OF STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT IN BIOECONOMY INNOVATION
ROLE STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS IN EU PROJECTS• THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS WOULD BE TO GATHER STAKEHOLDER INFORMATION,
WHICH COULD BE USED TO MOBILIZE THESE STAKEHOLDERS TO SUPPORT A PROJECT’S EXPLOITATION
OBJECTIVES.
• THE SECONDARY OBJECTIVE OF THE STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO DEFINING USEFUL
EXPLOITATION ACTIONS IN THE SECOND HALF OF A PROJECT WHICH COULD STRENGTHEN:
• either common exploitation actions which benefit the entire consortium (e.g. interesting investors in new
technology)
• individual exploitation action which benefit one or several of the consortium partners (e.g. a new client)

STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS APPROACHES
• THE WHO ANALYSIS: WHO IS INVOLVED IN A CERTAIN TOPIC?
• THE WHAT ANALYSIS: WHAT ARE THEY DOING?
• INTERACTIVE ANALYSIS: WHAT IS THE POSITION OF STAKEHOLDERS TOWARDS A BIOBASED
INNOVATION?

STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS APPROACHES: INTERACTIVE STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS
VARIABLES TO BE MEASURED IN SURVEY FOR ROBOX
• Ability to contribute
• Knowledge about biocatalysis
• Interest in biocatalysis
• Attitude towards biocatalysis
• Criteria to evaluate biocatalytic processes
• Network

EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS
• VALUEMAG: WHO ANALYSIS
• INDUSTRIAL CLIENTS: WHAT ANALYSIS
• ROBOX: INTERACTIVE ANALYSIS
BIOECONFIN 2017
VALUEMAG
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF VALUEMAG IS TO• DEVELOP AN ADVANCED MAGNETIC
HARVESTING METHOD FOR MICRO-ALGAE CULTIVATION.
• THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS TECHNOLOGY IN SEVERAL FIELDS SUCH AS THE USE OF MICRO-ALGAE FOR FOOD, COSMETIC AND NUTRACEUTICAL PRODUCTS.

ROBOX• ROBOX AIMS TO WIDEN THE INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION OF ENZYMATIC BIO-
OXIDATION PROCESSES TO NEW AND ALSO LARGER VOLUME AND LOWER PRICE MARKETS
• ROBOX FOCUSES ON BIO-TRANSFORMATIONS OF FOUR TYPES OF ROBUST OXIDATIVE ENZYMES:• p450 monooxygenases (p450s)• baeyer-villiger monooxygenase (bvmos)• alcohol dehydrogenase (adh)• alcohol oxidase (aox)
• ROBOX WILL DEMONSTRATE IN TOTAL 11 BIOCATALYTIC OXIDATION REACTIONS FOR TARGET PRODUCTS IN PHARMA, NUTRITION, FINE & SPECIALTY CHEMICALS AND MATERIALS IN ORDER TO PREPARE THEM FOR SCALE UP TO COMMERCIAL-SCALE
